I played ADD when I was a kid, and 4e works great now for me in my late 20s. I did not play for a long period of time, then one of my friends heard the Penny Arcade and PvP podcasts of them playing 4e and got interested. The only reason I was able to get a group together, at an age where people are getting married, having kids and buying houses is the easy learning curve and the easy adaptability of 4e. I long for a 3.5 game (leaning PathFinder actually) and hope to talk them into switching.
That being said 4e is not an MMO or as dumbed down as some people make it (not this thread but in general). Multiclassing is a fail, but the hybrid is a decent attempt at fixing it. There are alot of classes with the PHB2 and 3 that are really multiclassing of the original PHB1 classes.
It in no ways kills the role playing. You can do anything role playing wise in 4e that you could in 3.5 and ADD, but the underlying mechanic is more generic. Less skills ect leads to alot of 1d20+perception rolls...
Ok that was my on topic part, figure I could ask a question. Attempting to build my DDO Barb into a 4e build for a powergroup. I drop my int and wis down to 8 and dont get any points to spend on other stats? Thats how it works in the wizard builder, but is that a bug?
