Please lets get to laymans terms guys. Just think of me as simple if it helps but can someone put it simply how effective ranged is with the repeater build in regards to actual dps and how it measures up to melee build dps plus the advantages of being ranged vs melee otherwise.

Wow, nice thread! My husband's main is a repeater rogue, Maricela of Thelanis. I can't say it's a perfect min/max toon (we're still DDO newbies in a sense) but it's definitely the one he enjoys the most.
He hardly ever frequents the forums, but I'm going to show him this thread later for inspiration and ideas for his build. I'm sure he'd love the pointers.

Okay Repeater Gurus...
Any thoughts on what Tier III Mechanic will bring to the table? I'm trying to decide between pure Rogue and multiclass options. And speaking of multiclass options, what do you think of these:
- Rogue 13/Fighter 6/Monk 1
- Mechanic II
- Kensai I (Heavy Repeater)
- Bonus Monk feat
- Rogue 12/Fighter 8
- Mechanic II
- Kensai I (Heavy Repeater)
- Additional Fighter bonus feat
Thanks for the thoughts
Personally, I have found repeaters to be incredibly useful. I first fell in love with repeaters with my mechanic, and then actually took the heavy repeater proficiency for my assassin. The results are phenomenal. It is awesome to be able to SA outside of melee range and do it fast.

Hey Figured I'd throw my hat in the ring..I've been trying to get a repeater build to work since I started playing (Sept 2009...i think) and when they announced the new mechanic upgrades I did a little dance of joy. Oh and I'm on Thelanis Server
Currently I'm running A pure rogue too see how thats feels...its great fun the only problem is in DDO 30ft = barely more than arms length so I'm practically meleeing with my repeater :P) here's the build.
Note: All these build will attempt to obtain a Rad II Repeater (as well as the standard slew of weaponry) and a "Breeze" as a back-up weapon just in case (out of ammo or something)...also until Rogue 6/mech 1 is obtained the builds will take light repeater prof than swap for a diff feat

That alone can prove to be a challenge, and then when you start picking up loot it gets worse. Running Irestone Inlet was.. well, just bad. One ray of enfeeblement and you're helpless. My halfling is starting with 8 base str and I'm actually counting on having a yugo pot running most if not all of the time (bulls aswell, but they're short and tend to run out mid fight).

I decided to go with drow as my race so i could max out int for higher damage the down side to doing so was losing out on some hp(not a huge problem if your avoiding attack by relying on range anyway) and minimal str wich can leave me in trouble if i take some str damage but i'll remedy this eventualy with gear, tomes, and probably a tr of its own to get abit of extra hp or make hitting 19 dex without spending lvl up ability raises so i can take improved precise shot.
Anyway great class to play and if anyone is lookin to get some all repeater rogue runs going on khyber for fun i'd be happy to sign up.
I had a repeater rogue that I turned into a Thief Acrobat when that came out.
Now I've TRed my Tempest into a Mechanic. It's been fun so far and I'm looking forward to using some of the awesome repeaters I've built up over the years. Holy Burst of Greater Evil Outsider Bane here I come!
I just rolled my Repeater (Antikytherah) as a Human for the extra feat, more HPs, healing amp and stat enhancement flexibility. I'm planning a 13Rogue/6Fighter/1 Monk breakdown, but I'm still a little unsure if I'll reroll to WF or Drow...I need to do some more research.
I'd really like a hint as to what Mechanic III will bring to the table and how long we'll have to wait for it.
I was debating on a WF Wiz12/Rouge7/Monk1 or 12/6/2 to have a Highish AC (Gear heavy :P), Self-Healing, Half-way decent DPS, Self/Party Buffing (No buffs past S-Level 6 anyway..cept mass versions) but the Stats are really stretched...Its works best with human you lose the heals from repair spells...something like this I guess.
If Only we had the Shardmind (Basically Crystal WF) they Have +2 Int, +2 Wis/Cha (your choice)....but their 4.0

With TWF, you'll also receive 80% more attacks due to the off-hand.
So I think it's safe to say 'not even close'. It's really not close when you consider you're talking about a Rogue and ranged combat tends to lose out on Sneak Attacks since you can't Sneak Attack beyond point blank range.
That is my repeater Mech, i like playing him a lot. The sneak attack damage is really nice. We will see how it works out. I am using a slightly modified Hellfire build. I went Halfling and plan on going pure rogue.
At Bab 16 repeater with both feats can get 120 shots, GTWF could get 83+83=166 hits. Now with twf nerf you will get 83+66=149.
Yes sure 149>120 but you get more safety. With ranged you can blind mobs usually before they can reach you, so less hits landed on your rogue. Watch how blinded mobs acting....they usually turn around to target and then step forward trying to hit. If you gonna keep running in circles around him then much less chance that you get hit. I am planning on getting cripling trinket so I guess it would lower monster speed to around 25 % ( from blindness and cripling). So ranged rogue it's more about moving around then normal 2fw rogue. Not speaking about that you can hit few mobs in time with improved precise shot.
About str not applying to damage and power attack : on most rogue str not much higher than int...at least not gonna add significant amount of damage...we not barbarians after all. Most damage from rogue comes from sneak attack damage. And getting lower Bab ( 3/4) than most melee toons having power attack all the time may be not best option since damage already significant.
Point blank range not so small as many ppl can think about...it's good distance to move around after you get used to.
Ranged weapon also can benefit from worry less about MIN II...since you can make lighting II repeater and don't care about DR of bosses because you have silver bolts.
Most problems in past I had with elementals...since they have DR cannot overcome. I even decided to multiclass with fighter for extra dmg just because of that. But with changes of INT to extra dmg it may be not necessary.
Fairytales don't teach us that dragons exist, but rather that dragons can be beaten.
Oh and yeah with Improved Precise Shot you can just tear up groups of enemies and don't forget you'll probably have a wicked UMD so you'll have a healthy supply of Divine Power Scrolls
I love how in DDO (and PnP) I can roll a WF 18/2 Wiz/Rog and a WF 12/8 Wiz/Rog and they play completely different.
