Wrong, it's adding a feature from PnP D&D that should have been here years ago.

Can I get my alignment change with a free side order of a Lesser Heart of Wood?

Will there a future provision to change alignment and drop/change the alignment restricted class?

I could see new store items.. "Alignment change for Paladins" and "Alignment change for Monks" that converts their levels in that class along with the alignment.

It appears based on the wording to hold those restrictions in place, BUT, since it was never on Lamannia to test (that I saw at least) that is not to say the system has been put to the test yet, especially when you toss in things like LR and GR into the mix.

It's called a TR and it's on sale for 20% off in the DDO store right now. :P

It's not a common feature from pnp at least from my experince of 30+ years and when it did happen there was always a high cost. but yes they should have added some form of it long ago.

My guess is that since the Monk class requires a Lawful alignment, your choices are limited to either LG or LN.

You know what? i posted a big long paragraph about what a bad idea alignment change can be and removed it.

Cheers to alignment. Its obvious the veterans here know what they are talking about and i do not.

Or what about the half hour delays to check a rule because someone found a loophole to do something that is blatantly unfair. So you say "wrong" and i understand that the pnp community playing this mmo wants identical rules from the pnp to be apparent in the mmo. Right now the pnp rules dont recieve updates every few months so maybe....just maybe, some of the rules implemented in the pnp game might not be the best thing for the mmo. I doubt the pnp had balance testing to the degree an mmo recieves.

I dont want to be the naysayer or disagree to go against the grain, i just dont understand what the purpose is for some class types, if every other class can replicate and exceed the strengths of those classess without some kind of backlash. All the pnp for 3.5 is is a dismissal from the ruleset that restricted players from becoming overpowered. All previous editions of dnd pnp had defining rules. 3.5 does not, and all these lack of formal rules incorporated into an mmo leads to these blatant imbalances. The recent nerfs are patches to cover the pnp rules running amuck.
Please play the game for a little longer before jumping to conclusions like that.

Balance testing? in this game? That's a good one!

it better work like pnp where i can change to non lawful at 12 monk and go BARB! and keep all my monk abilities

"A monk who becomes nonlawful cannot gain new levels as a monk but retains all monk abilities."

also.. true neutral monks with greater stability ftw as well

edit: just saw release notes for the store today. FAIL turbines, screw you guys... stick to PnP and quit ruining a classic (and **** good) game

So if I'm reading this right the item works like follows...

If you were a barb splash and want to lose the barb splash for a monk splash you have to LR 3+, then alignment change to lawful whatever, and then LR 3+ again. That seems like Turbine making it convoluted to get more cash in to me.

I have been really excited to see alignment changes come into DDO, but this one thing makes it impractical for a lot of the situations I wanted to use it. The $20-25+ it would cost to change my /1 monk to / 1 barbarian or vice versa (much much less were they other classes) seems like a real shame.

If Turbine offered a heart of lesser reincarnate 1 + an alignment change, it would save the second heart and week of time.

To me it seems like a system limitation, and rather than not provide the item at all, we provided what we could.

In the above case, it might make more sense for the player to re-roll.
