Question: I have a Lesser Heart of Wood. My cleric is currently on the "Font of Healing" path, but I'd like to transform him into a Warpriest of Siberys. Unfortunately I never took my 2nd level as a fighter, and the Lesser Heart of Wood will not enable me to change classes. I am ready to level up to level 15, however. Could I take my 15th level in fighter (instead of my 2nd) and then use the Lesser Heart of Wood to become a Warpriest of Siberys? Does it matter when you take a class in fighter (15th level instead of 2nd level)? Thanks in advance!

The Warpriest of Siberys in the revisited paths is a conceptual remaking of what the paths intended to be. There is no actual "Warpriest of Siberys" prestige enhancement line yet; that is only a guide on how to maybe better fit the concept of a warpriest.

So, yes you can take your 15th level as a fighter if it makes sense for where you're at; you're not going to actually be a "Warpriest of Siberys" until the day they eventually release that PrE (prestige enhancement).

That being said I would suggest sticking with cleric through to level 20, taking the Radiant Servant prestige line as by now, with 14 levels of cleric you should be able to solo content or contribute to a group through the spells you can cast rather than through melee.

(You'll get access to level 8 spells if you go ahead and level as a cleric instead of taking a level of fighter.)

Just a note: I may be back, though I'm not sure yet. If that's the case I will look again into these builds. It will take me a while though to catch up on all the new stuff and figure out what are the consequences for these builds. In the meantime I'd rather not provide any advice as it's likely to be based on outdated information.

    Welcome back indeed!

Your builds and insights into the classes, outdated or not, have been extremely helpful in your absence.

edit: Bah, first post.. your possible return tricked me out of the forum-ninja shadows.

    I'm loving this thread.

Currently I'm working on a Warpriest of Siberys by following tihocan's guide. I'm just wondering, does anyone have any tips on actually playing this specific kind of Cleric? Is it socially accepted to do Melee in dungeons while partying, or is our duty, even as Warpriests, set solely on healing?

Also, I've been using a Longsword + shield along with Power Attack activated, mostly because of the permanent +1 attack bonus for Longsword due to the Sovereign Host enhancement. Would I be better off going with a two-handed weapon like a Greatsword instead?

I haven't gotten into any real offensive spells just yet, either.

tihocan: Good to hear from you. Your builds have been a big help in getting me back into this game. At this point, however, I would suggest waiting for the Enhancement overhaul to drop before revising these, or your hard work will just be trampled.

    Thundaga:
Some groups will expect you to stand in the back and heal, but that is because they are retarded. It is not your job to make up for flaws in their build or play. With experience, you will learn that trying to save reckless or poorly geared players just puts the rest of the group in jeopardy.

In decent groups, you will find healing is a side task, and you should spend most of your time taking down mobs like everyone else. The +1 attack does not make up for the amount of damage you leave behind with sword and shield. Use a Falchion or Greataxe instead. Since you will have decent Wisdom, remember to take advantage of Crowd Control spells like Soundburst, Command, and Cometfall.

Thanks for replying. I did end up switching back to a two-hander. I've been using Soundburst a lot; it's fantastic.

I had someone demanding that I stay behind the group and to stop attacking things, to which I listened, because I don't want any problems (I'm still learning my role as a Warpriest). I tried to explain that I'm built to do melee as well, but I was insulted for not playing a Cleric properly. I didn't really know how to react to that. I'm guessing some people just don't know very much about Clerics? I ignored the insults and just made sure to keep people healed. I made sure to dismiss myself after we were done, though.

sorry that you had to endure some bad people. i have a cleric that i started just as a bank toon. he started as a lv4 veteran. a couple of guild mates were TR-ing and said 'hey, bring your cleric' they carried me thru enough xp to reach lv 6. i dont know how to play a cleric and find the prospect intimidating. so he will likely sit at lv6 and never venture into a pug even though there currently seems to be a healer shortage.
if life gives you lemons, make lemonade.
if life gives you pickles, well you're screwed. because pickleade sucks.

Heh, it's no big deal. I've been playing mmo's since they existed. Been through many bad times concerning people with bad attitudes. I've seen and dealt with much worse. And yeah, Clerics are very intimidating to play. There's too much pressure to be 'on.' If you're having a bit of an off day, you're probably going to get your groups killed a lot. I don't do very well under pressure, especially when people are relying on me. I can't handle that, so I gave up playing a Cleric for now. Decided to give rogue a shot again (been a long time since I played one). Which brings me to my next question...

Is this true? Did something change since 2009ish? I was so sure Haste Boost worked for bows/crossbows, as well. That would be a huge shame if it didn't...

Default Coming back, character build help.

    Hello all,

So i decided to come back to DDO after a lengthy break with my son & brother, when it comes to charcter builds we are all pretty much noobs.

I have been looking at the vast amount of builds on the forums and in an attempt to aquire three builds for us - i thought it may just be prudemt to post here in the hope someone will help us out!

    Basically the three builds i'm after are as follows;

1). A non warforge paladin with the aim to being a tank/dps model.
2). A non warforge cleric focused towards healing first & buffing 2nd.
3). A non warforged wizard or sorc focused towards dps with decent lock opening end game skills.

If anyone can help and post relevant build links here, i would be very grateful!

    Many thanks,
    C.

The impending expansion release may very well render a lot of traditional advice in this regard obsolete.

Paladins I don't know, but from the coming changes Defender of Siberys might be useful. I'm not swearing by that, though.

A casting/healing cleric will still probably be more useful in a trio than a healbot, so 17-18 wisdom, good con, at least and taking Radiant Servant.

Not sure how the rogue/wizard is going to be impacted, but that's usually a high int/con 18 wiz/2 rog archmage...don't know about splashing rogue on a PM as I've never tried it. 1st level rogue then 9th level rogue so that you at least get firewall by level 8 at wiz 7. Insightful reflexes recommended.

The winds of change are building and might sweep away what is currently known, however.

Since you're looking for a "party" build for 3 players, I'd suggest starting a new thread to get more folks to see and respond to your post since this thread is kinda buried and not many players see this.

I didn't catch this earlier, but the Greaters (GSP and GSP) are not Wizard class feats, so Humans can't take it at 20.

These are standard builds - nothing too tricky here - any of Tihocan builds at the top of this thread for those classes will work except for the wizrogue - that is if your going to splash rogue skill on your arcane then i would suggest doing it with a wizzard instead of a sorc - because of the synergy between a wiz stats and a rogues stats - here is some information with build suggestions for a wizrogue that I gathered when I made mine: http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=371694 - as a side note it might work to give the Paladin the trapskills and keep your wiz pure - that way you can either play a pure sorc (for nuking pleasure) or wizard (CC and insta-death) and be a God at end game - up to you - if you go with the paladin trapper here is what I did: http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=369810 - final build at the end of the thread - i ended up dropping 1 point in con and put it into char as suggested to qualify for divine might III - couldn't be happier

there is no point in worrying about the xpac changes because we just dont know if they will have any significant impact on any builds - it might make them more viable just as easily - besides if it is too drastic then you can always visit Fred - buy a heart of wood or other fixes to put ya back on track - just have fun and play like no ones watching...errr - something like that - up the irons

    Good luck

Sorry, did not notice this before.

Cannot figure out a way to get greater spell focus in two schools for humans, then. Instead, take improved mental focus at (20) (more sp) or enlarge spell (greater range). (also, the order might have to be changed somewhat - still working on that).
