Sorry. I am on the Orien server, and still experimenting, so I have 3 characters on the go: Fenricus (Human - Fighter/Cleric), Caractacus (Drow - Rogue/Cleric) and Dextrus (Human - Rogue/Fighter/Cleric). Guild is The Lords Of Time.

    Default Brand new.

I could definitely use some mentoring/in game help. I'm not only fairly new to the game, but i'm completely new to the Dungeons and Dragons universe. I've played a ton of MMO's from Asherons call to WoW. Discouragingly enough I've never felt more lost. I'm doing as much reading as i can but the shear amount of study is overwhelming. I've read up on a few builds and made a fighter (Rizsen lvl4) and a Pally (Rizsin lvl2) on Argonnessen (spelling?). I'm still using a free subscription until i get a feel for the game, but I'm really enjoying myself and I'm sure it won't be long until I'm paying monthly.

I'm also looking for a guild filled with patient and mature people to play with. Thx for any help, i hope this thread is still looked at now and again. Go BRUINS!!

I highly recommend moving to Thelanis. I recently made the move to get help from Clay and he has been amazingly helpful in getting my on the right track in DDO. I am not able to give anyone in-depth guidance in the game, but I would certainly be willing to group with anyone learning the ropes along with me.

I just came back to the game after one year and I am so lost I am about to uninstall it and head back to Lotro. :/

I am on Ghallanda with one of my chars that is not level 20 already and while I do have some on Thelanis I would have to start all over that I really don't wish to do.

Where can I get some help relearning my character for 5 updates of missed content (I tried the first day of update 5 and despised it so much that I left)?

Premium account only - Monk class first.

Try sending a PM to the guys listed in the 2nd post of this thread as Ghallanda mentors. Otherwise, I can help you get re-acquainted with the game on Thelanis, as a temporary thing. You don't have to start over or switch completely, just play a little on Thelanis, and go back to your main on Ghallanda whenever you are not catchin up with me or a different mentor.

Thelanis is the best place to be, though, just sayin!

I did several times and there were so many alts my hand started to get tired, lol. No one was on though so I will try again tonight. This new crafting has me intrigued I must say but honestly I do not notice any differences when I solo than I did a year ago but I just know there has to be. I noticed on my Wizard char (lvl 20) he now has 3 pets per tier that came in update 7 so I know there has to be a lot more for all of my chars than just that judging by the release notes (gibberish to me being gone so long).

I don't mean an in game messsage. Try clicking on the name in the list, which brings up their profile page, and send a Private Message.

If no one answers you back, pop on Thelanis to ask me questions in person, or you can PM me questions.

    Default Mentor needed.

    Hi,
I could also use some in game help. I'm not new to the game, but i'm completely mindblown to the new updates over the last 4yrs. I've played alot of DDO a long time ago but I'm getting back ito the game and starting over.
I've got a Pally Lvl 2 (Torileus) in Ghallanda. I'm using a free subscription until i get a feel for the game again.

Also looking for a guild filled with patient and mature people to play with. Thx for any help.

    Burjo.

I did not though I hardly play games anymore and after pounding my head into the wall a few times I realized DDO may not be the game for me anymore.

I guess the instancing of content is what just sent me over the edge in not caring if I come back or not though I am getting a slight urge to play tonight but then I remember my Fists of Fury WF and I just don't have the stomach to solo in agony for a few weeks until I get to 16/17 when the pain resolves itself (self heals will help). I tried one of the new f2p instances and it was actually pretty fun but at the end the boss, and his buddies, tore me up and left me in a pile of wires and metal and that was on solo. Might could do it on casual but the content is lvl 12 and I am 13, if I remember right, so I was very let down with the character and logged off. I haven't returned in over a week.

There are many simple things to do to make battles easier, and a battle that seems tough to you now, will seem simple and easy with even just a few pointers.

Pop on to Thelanis and let me show you. You will enjoy the game more. Success in the game is less about gear and build and more about knowledge and player ability.

It will not take a heavy investment of time to catch a few runs with me, but the increased enjoyment of the game will more than make up for the time you spend on Thelanis.

What changed though? My char was doing so well when I left the game and I come back then go attempt a new instance and had my booty handed to me. I then ran off to the level 11 instance (forgot its name) that used to be extremely hard (it was the one in the harbor where it would wrongly show up as requiring the restless isles) and I tore it up faster than I could have before I left.

    So, I am stumped.

Which name do you play on mostly and I will give you a shout though any character I have on Thelanis is very young and way way under powered/gearless.

I have to ask, have you tried grouping at all? I mean I enjoy soloing as much as the next person, but you seem to have an aversion to getting in a group with others. Any particular reason for that?

I am also a mentor for Ghallanda so if you have specific questions feel free to PM me, though I am on a short break from the game itself so I'm not really available for in-game help.

The game in general has been through several changes that have actually made soloing easier and easier, so I am unsure of what your particular problems are in the content. It could just be the newer content has obstacles you haven't really learned how to overcome yet, but with a little skill and preparation could be made loads easier.

That could be it whereas the older content remained the same.

As far as your grouping question goes I don't do pugs in any game I play. When I left DDO the downward spiral of groups in general at least helped me to leave it. F2P areas were so much worse than those of the VIP areas. I would go do Delera's Tomb, for instance, and people honestly thought I was vip by what I knew and how I acted. I loved it then the F2P crowd started to acquire area after area and the quality of the groups in those areas suffered until I no longer had any area left I could hide in. Guild groups I will play with night and day but that is because the quality is there (f2p or vip) because they are guild mates not some random person who doesn't care either way and you are only in their party because they needed to finish something then you might, or might not, see them ever again. No, thanks to that so I stay away from pugs.

Well, I am having to PUG and it is a 60/40 (40% are great and 60% causes everyone to die so much) but I am now level 9 from level 1 and have a level 18 Arcane crafter.

I spoke to Clay one time for like 5 mins while I was doing Delaras but we never did hook up for whatever mentoring I was going to receive. He was having some real life issues so I waited and waited to hear from him again and nothing came. No pms on here or ingame mail and I declined several guild invites waiting for him so I figure (Clay you could have left me a pm on here as I see you have logged on numerous times but you left me hanging) that I have learned the game to the point I used to know before I left. I took my level 1 reroll (ugh, they killed extend in u9 ) and was able to get him to level 9 now. I can craft and make nice items (probably why i am not lvl 10/11) so I don't think I need your services after all.

    I hope everything went well.

    Thanks again.
