My main character from days of old is a level 10 Ranger (8R/2F). While I'm still evaluating the practicality of continuing him on towards 20, or simply starting anew, I have many questions I hope some of you will take time to answer.
1) How is leveling nowadays? How are soloing options now, from 1 to 20? Let me explain.
I am a former powergamer, who now has a wife and son. I will play 2-4 hours a night, probably 5 nights each week until the summer. I have the min/maxer mentality to a large degree, but it doesn't unilaterally decide what I do.
The reason I left Stormreach in 2006 was because back then it was near impossible - even with a guild of reasonable size - to get into a group to actually do ANYTHING. I would sit in Stormreach for upwards of an hour, and then log off in frustration. It was a bit of a shame because I really did enjoy the game itself - when I could actually play it.
Another example: Say I have a small group of 2 or 3 that may be 'unbalanced' in the classic sense? Before, if you didn't have a cleric, you were pretty doomed more often then not.
2) How is the class population right now? Are there too many Rangers? Not enough? I am also starting a new character from scratch although I'm sure hell be a slower leveler (unless I choose to simply scrap my current Ranger main). What classes are needed here on Ghallanda? I'm not against re-making a Ranger again, if I really think the original isn't salvageable. I love the class for its secondary ranged and sneakiness abilities.
Ultimately, my #1 goal here is to be able to actually play the game and advance this time around, otherwise, I suspect my stay here again will be shortlived. The Ranger was my main before, and I truly enjoy the versatility of the class, but if I can't advance either in groups or on my own with intermittent grouping, then it's pretty much an exercise in futility for me.
3) Are there any people in game willing to take some time to show me around a little bit?
4) Where are the regions/places to level now solo or group? I think soloing would probably be preferred in the short-term, as it'll allow me to (one way or the other) re-acquaint myself with my skill sets. I know I have all of my action points to spend, and Heaven knows all the **** I have in my inventory right now. I'm not going to do anything rash though with Potvin until I "figure things out" so to speak!
Thanks for reading!
Oh and TL/DR version: old, old, vet last played 3.5 years ago has returned...HALP!!!
