It can be challenging to figure out how effective various damage types are based on the very large variety of icons that show up above your head and the monsters' heads ("what spell did that monster cast?", etc.). It also takes a while to find what you're looking for if you scroll through the combat log after a fight because there are many many lines for each fight.
This would be a lot easier and get players more accustomed to different damage types if the combat chat panel made use of color. Example:
(Combat) Reanimated Turkey hits you for 20 points of Tryptophan damage.
Where the color of the damage type matches the color of the icon as displayed over your head. With this, one could get better prepared for the next fight.
Putting the icons themselves in the combat log would be even better, but I don't imagine the game is set up for that.
