Default Gamebreaking PVP griefing: Permanently breaking items via Mordenkainen's Disjunction

When you get Mordenkainen's Disjunctioned, the base durability of all your items is reduced. You can test this in PVP: get disjunctioned and look at your items (something that was 70/70 pre-disjunction will say 10/10 after).

In most cases these items will return to normal. However, if an unbound item already has ~30% or more permanent damage from a moderate to low base durability (say 40 or under remaining), when disjunctioned it will become flagged as broken beyond repair. Once disjunction wears off the item will appear as normal, but will NOT EVER be repairable at any vendor any longer.

My chaosguards were 36/37 when disjunction hit me in the abbot (on normal). They became red/broken beyond repair while under the effects of disjunction. After disjunction wore off, they appeared normal but can no longer be repaired at a NPC. As I already experienced with a bloodstone (see here http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=200886), if I continue to wear this item it will hit 1/37 durability but then become full red 0/0 broken beyond repair when that last point goes.

This spell can be used in PVP to destroy your opponents gear. Be aware.

PS. This is unofficially confirmed (i.e. confirmed by a player, not by a dev) in-game as an existing bug as of sept 26 2009 (i.e. even after patch 1).

Furthermore, Turbine in-game support will not fix or replace items destroyed by this bug. They will tell you to submit a bug report and close your in-game help ticket.

This is open season for griefers.

If you decide to PVP or run the abbot raid while this remains unfixed, take the following precautions to ensure 100% item safety:
    Don't wear any unbound items
Don't wear any items with permanent damage
Don't wear any items with below 45 max durability

Previous post edited for clarity. The thread linked in the OP also has screenshots, showing an item with damage that does not appear in the repair list at a potion vendor or tavern.

Another HUGE Abott falure! Someday this quest may be worth running. See you in two years...

Almost everyone in my channels refuses to run Abott till this is fixed. Go figure

    /sigh

    We knew this would happen.

    It's happening.

    Did the Dev Team listen?

    No.

    Just as predicted.

I've noticed my rad rapier being broken in quests quite easily as if the durability has been reduced. I'll have to check if this is the case because I have been running abbott.

My condolences on that loss, and thanks for the warning. I'll let my guild know.
