Thread: fastest mover

  1. #1

    Default fastest mover

is a Barb 10 with Barbarian Sprint Boost IV using Phiarlan Pendant of Time or Haste (in quest) the fastest possible mover? is there any way to move faster than this? (other than any kind of teleport... for sure )

I think a level 1 cleric, with no haste or striding, with the slow spell cast on him, and AFK, is faster than Blahish.

9 monk, 10 ranger got 15% fast movement and full sprint boost, beats the barb.

12 rogue 8 barb with acrobat 2 and sprint boost 3 also outruns it.

    Dragonmarked Human Barbarian 1 / Ranger 7 / Monk 12.

+25% - Least Dragonmark of Passage
    +15% - Longstrider
+10% - Just for having a level of Barbarian
+45% - Ranger Sprint Boost III
    +20% - Monk Fast Movement (+5% at levels 3,6,9,12)
    +25% - Striding Item
+40% - Haste potion or clicky

+ Abundant step at monk 12.

I don't think you'll find a faster build, of course you'll have to be centered

EDIT: Also, I imagine steering might be an issue...

Pretty sure these do not stack. +40% haste will override the other enhancement bonuses to movement.

Check your breakdown, 4 of the listed items do not stack at all lol, longstrider, dragonmark, striding item are all wasted with a haste, which is yet again wasted by the pendant of time.

But a hint, if you wanna maximize the bonuses you shoulda put in a 30% strider instead

    meh

not to mention taking that level of monk after taking a level of barbarian might be a bit challenging as well

The least you could do, when telling someone they're wrong is to give the correct answer :P

You can't multiclass barbarian and monk due to the alignment restrictions.

Could also be a small issue gaining Monk and Barbarian levels at the same time...Silly alignment rules and all that.

I always thought expeditious retreat stacked with haste... And while I've never had a +25% speed boost item, I have had a +20% and it sure felt like Expeditous retreat was adding more than 5% to it when cast. I've always wanted to, but never have tried to see if Expeditous retreat would stack with Longstrider. Barb/Monk is obviously not working. I'm not defending my brain-fart above by any means I'd erase it, but I figure leaving it up will help me learn to think before posting...

Haste - "causes them to move faster"
Expeditous Retreat -- "increases base run speed"
Longstrider - "increases base run speed"
Striding Item - "enhancement bonus to movement speed"?
Fast Movement (Barb) - "can run 10% faster than normal."
Fast Movement (Monk) - ??? Not listed in the compendium under monk feats.

ya know, the compendium really sucks sometimes

Barb also has the same sprint boost that +50%. what ranger 15% you refer to?

Haste definitely override longstrider, striding item, expeditous retreat in quest, and pendant of time override them all. I guess Barb +10% should stack. My question is if there are other way to stack more speed.

so, u mean, the +x% bonus is on top of strider item?! I don't get it.

I can't find information about Monk movement speed, too. Could anyone point me to the exact feat/enhancement name?

These are all enhancement bonuses and do not stack:
+25% - Least Dragonmark of Passage
    +15% - Longstrider
    +30% - Striding Item
    +40% - Haste
+25-35% - Way of the Acrobat (only the 10% "showtime" boost stacks)

These ones are untyped and thus stack
    +5-30% - Monk Fast Movement (+5% at levels 3,6,9,12,15,18)
    +10% - Showtime Acrobat Boost
    +35/40/45/50% - Sprint Boost I-IV

This is a special bonus that applies differently then every other boost in the game - and increase movement even while flying unlike others:
Barbarian Fast Movement +10% innate rate
Pretty sure barb fast movement also increases your BASE multiplier to 1.1.. So if you get haste, +40%, you get 110x1.4 = 154%, not 150%. This keeps Barbs as the fastest class in the game.

    Fastest Class is pure barb:
    40% Enhancement
    50% Sprint
    1.1 Multiplier
    = +109% speed
    Monk10/Ranger10 is very close:
    40% Enhancement
    50% Sprint
    15% Monk
    = +105% speed

Pure Monk or Pure Rogue Acrobat is not NEARLY as fast as a sprnting Barb.. Tested this ingame many times.. Good course is the prey on the hunter maze.. No monk or rogue could keep up =) Ofcourse once sprint runs out - the monk can pull ahead.

Note: Monk using abundant step over and over CAN keep up with a barb using sprint boost rank II. III or higher will outpace him slightly.. Tho after the cooldown the monk can pull ahead.. But once he runs outa ki - the barb is back.. Kinda leapfrog over each other as the cooldowns/ki runs out.

Interestingly - the fastest class in the game for a longer endurance run will be the Favored Soul. He has no movement speed increase.. But his wings of faith function the same as monks abundant step - without the requirement of punching things on the way.. Only costs 5sp.. So a 3000 SP favored soul could move at a extremely quick rate for a very very long time (if not unlimited with mana pots) , much longer then a monk could abundant step or a barb could sprint boost.

I've personally tested all of this except the Monk fast movement.. I don't have a monk. I hear conflicting reports on it not stacking with haste, or stacking.. I think it's like the wind stance? Partial enhancement, partial insight.. So it partially stacks? Dunno tho, so I just used the numbers given in this thread.

Why is it when a barb is concerned you always pull out shade math?

Monk movement speed isn't affected by wind stance, only melee. This is kinda for another thread, but at tier 4, wind stance will give 25% melee speed, only 10% stacking with haste, the other 15% wasted with haste on. Turbine is sticking to 10%, same bonus for Zeal, fighter capstone, tempest.

All that monk stances can do for run speed is make it decrease in mountain stance.

Monk 15/Ranger 1 boosted... with Pendant of Time.

You'll move so fast it will lag your video card.
