    Cool Drow TWF Battle Cleric

I want to build a two weapon Drow Battle Cleric. I have came up with tho possible sets of stats

    16 Strength
    16 Dexterity
    12 Constitution
    10 Intellegence
    14 Wisdom
    10 Charisma

This one seems to be the best possible candidate so far, but I really want DPS. So here is another idea,

    18 Strength
    16 Dexterity
    12 Constitution
    10 Intellegence
    8 Wisdom
    10 Charisma.

My question is, can you go that low with your wisdom and still be able to cast ALL of the cleric spells. I know I wont have a ton of spell points but I only need enough to heal myself.

Simple answer is no. To cast a spell you you need 10 + the spell level. So a lvl 1 spell is 11 wisdom. If you want to cast a ninth lvl spell you need a 19 wisdom to cast.

I would go with your first set of stats. Gives you a good base and you can add Items to raise it enough to cast the higher spells. A difference of 2 strength is 1 point to hit and damage. not worth it in my opinion.

    8 +2 Tome +6 Item +3 Cleric Enh = 19

Yes, You can. You could even relace the Tome with a +2 or +3 Wisdom Item you can craft in the shroud.

You can also use Level up points to supplement wisdom.

Be prepared to be ridiculed and shunned in groups. People despise Battle Clerics that refuse to help others. (Including myself) If you dont want to heal people in the group, then play a Paly, Ranger, or even Bard.

you cna count items towards your total, staring wiht 14 will net you around 24 without level ups spent into it.

Please see my response. Cearina's response is misleading, if not incorrect.

I'm not sure it's misleading. As far as I know any spell caster must have a relevant stat of 10 + spell level to cast. As far as I know that holds true for all casters weather they be cleric, mage, bard, etc.

The second part was just my opinion. Correct me if I am wrong.

my main is a battle cleric, healing yourself is a going to earn you a bad rep, learning to fight and heal at the same time is paramount to a good battle-cleric. learn to do this and people might someday love you as much as me.

OK, Fine. Your Wrong. AS I pointed out, you only need your wisdom to be 10+1 at the time of casting the spell. As ong as you have a +2 TOme and a +1 Wisdom item, you can cast L1 Spells at L1. at Level2, you can take Clr Wis I which gets you to Level 2 Spells. at Level 5 you can use a +2 Wisdom Item to cast L3 Spells... So on and so forth....

the opinion part, I agree with, but I still fail to see the point of any cleric that refuses to heal other party members.

You ridicule what you could never play.... Part of the problem with the majority of people in this game, you want a babysitter instead of actually being responsible for yourself. The Cleric is one of the best all around classes in the game, and you want it relegated to babysitting and keeping you alive. People need to go buy some pots and wands and stop being slackers where their own "life" comes into the matter. A true cleric can fight, heal, and take care of things as needed. Several out there are listed as Holy Tactics warriors and get along fine in groups, they pay to play how they like the same as you do. Too many players are gimp players wanting someone else to be responsible for them, its sad really. Ninety percent of melee's think the caster's are there to be their personal haste bot, again... go buy some pots to feed your fix.

I think it's just a point of semantics. He still has to have an 11 at lvl 1 to cast. I did not say he has to have a base of 11 to cast. The point that you made about a + 2 tome and a +1 item is correct. But I was not going to assume he has access to +2 tomes.

So my first statement is correct. Items and tomes or what ever He has to have an 11. If he is new and can only get his hands on a +1 item he will not be able to cast a spell at first level.

P.S. I agree with you on the healing part. I am sure a lot of people do.

    16 Strength
    16 Dexterity
    12 Constitution
    10 Intellegence
    14 Wisdom
    10 Charisma
This is the better stat distribution.
Yes, you will be able to cast al the spells in the game with a starting WIS of 8, and without having to invest level up pooints , but the overall tradeoff is bad.

You are better off wielding dual rapier than dual bastard-swords. You dont need to spend one of your rare feats.
    1d6 + 2 (racial) = effective 1d10 damage.
So a Rapier and a BS have the same damage, but the rapier lands 10% more crits and has up to +2 to hit.

    Rapier >> Bastardsword.
Erzskalde (Warchanter) / Erzmarschall (melee FvS) / Erzsoldat (waiting for TR-time) / Erzschmied (ranged Artificer)

ARe you kidding me? lol, I've rerolled more battle clerics than most people have characters....

I currently run 4 different cleric builds. All setup to Fight as Well as Heal. I Never play a babysitter. I never Expect one to babbysit me when I play my Melee or arcanes.

Next time have a clue about who your talking to before insulting them.

The OP said he only needs spell points to heal himself. That is the "Cleric" People Quickly add to their Do NOT GROUP lists....

THe "Simple answer" would be "Yes, But with Conditions." and as long as He doesnt care about casting any spells until l5, he could still catch up and be able to cast all of his spells just fine.

I do not care what you have or haven't played, it's not your place to tell him that he shouldn't. As I also have capped toons across multiple servers I have seen how people play, and 99% want a babysitter. Perhaps you don't, but IF you've actually played that much then you know for a fact most do. If he uses his SP to mostly heal himself so long as he lists that in his bio and tells it to group leaders then that's on them, not you or anyone else. The symbol in front of the name doesn't mean squat anymore, people have built this that and the other f'ing thing out of all classes. There are lvl 16 rogues out there that can't unlock a door or find a trap let alone disable it, but they can deal some damage thats insane.... However you like to think of the classes throw it all out the window and reboot the brain, because there are going to by hybrid's of anything and everything and who cares, let them. They pay to play same as anyone else. So you get a clue.... I've been getting and building mine since the game started, thanks....

Sorry.. Its not my Place to tell him what he "Cannot" do. It is my place and anyone else's to say and provide whatever opinion and reality we want to within the forum guidelines.

If you dont want other peoples opinions, then dont post your own.

A Cleric Symbol in front of your name does still mean something in this game. My 14/2 ROgue Cleric (Full Rogue Skills BTW) DOes Traps, Melees, and still has the presence of mind to throw a heal to a TEAMATE when needed. I almost always relegate myself to pure healing in Raids like Shroud Pt4-5 and Vod as well. I play the roll thats required by the Group I'm in. Not some self centered imaginary vision of what I want to do.

Even though she has 14 levels of Cleric, I consider her a Rogue Cleric since she was designed to do traps first, melee second and heal/cast third.
