Default Solo Build: What is the best end-game solo character?

I'm trying to think of what the best end-game solo build would be.

Mod 4/5 the best solo character is definitely a WF sorc/wizard, however with the inflated hit-point monsters of mod 6 you would almost need melee power.

Maybe a WF sorc/paladin build would be the best solo-er?

What is your opinion? : End-gmae, what build currently has the best high level quest soloing ability?

Sorcs can still do the job. It's still my best soloer.

Warforged Rogue 2/Wizard 14 (soon to be Wizard 18). Evasion, Trapsmith, Stealth, Self healing, Nuking ect. Yes the inflated HPs are an issue but for most quests a WF Wizard with 2 rogue levels is STILL the best solo character.

    Ranger 14/Monk 1/Rogue 1

At least it's my best solo build by far. But I think it's a playstyle thing more than anything. I know casters that can solo a lot, but my caster needed an escort in the shroud.

(Ok, not really. But his quest soloability was about nill since he had no self healing. )

The Warforged Sorcerer still does quite well at soloing quest content, even with some of the inflated HP monsters we now face. You just have to sometimes have some prior knowledge to know when you absolutely need to cast stuff so you can make it through some quests without using resources (like Enter the Kobold).

Granted, there are cases where the hard-to-touch melee (Enter the Kobold being an example right now) and the Blade Barrier Cleric (Doomsphere battles and Red-Named Devil battles) outperform the Warforged arcane, but it is still potent.

Personally i say go cleric.. if you solo alot that means your strapped on time i'm assuming like i am..

cleric solo's awesome, and when you do have time, grouping is super easy to find, i get tells left and right "wanna run this.. wanna run that" *shrugs* maybe i'm over analysing

I have the above mentioned builds and all can solo well, but for me it's my evasion battle cleric 2monk/14cleric elf with rapier enhancements, PA and 36 wisdom.

    Pretty much the complete package:

    self healing

    great buffs

    2 wops

decent rapier melee output; not great but enough to get the job done on high reflex save bosses

    instant kill single target

    mass cc

mass AoE damage via blade barrier

    mass charm

    evasion for traps and spells

    yeah, I have a cleric, I have a monk-ranger, and I have a sorc - and I still feel there's a better possibility for end-game solo-ing out there, I just need to find it

the best charater(in my opinion), is a monk 9,pally6,cleric 5. you have amzing stances plus you have cleric spells AND Lay on hands, it is very powerful to get you through anything, and good enough that it can get you out of things, and you can do turn undead. I dont really care if you dont take my advice, im a lvl 12 monk, 3 pally still working on my mastermind plan.

    You covered that quite well.

The most effective Clerics and FvS I have seen do not use weapons at all. They are strictly Casters.

    Good writeup.

And the soloist build I currently play:
    http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=215261

No doubt that group play is faster than solo, but I solo'ed most of his leveling, and there aren't many (any?) normal non-raid quests he can't handle as well.

One caveat worth noting about solo-oriented builds: they tend to be baggage in raids. All your soloability doesn't amount to squat when you can fit at least some pigeon hole for raid purposes.

I agree with your point. I can solo just about any quest with my Monk, and I have found ways for her to find pigeon holes for raid purposes. Such as using healing fists and healing burst to help the clerics - is especially useful if there is a little lag between heals (did this with 4 monks and one cleric in the final fight in the shroud raid kept the party alive between heals and we finished); or using my many monk finishing moves to buff the party such as stun immunity and aligning the heavens. Sometimes skills such as abundant leap are what is sought after by a raid group. Being able to resurrect others and remove curses (restoring the balance) have also been very useful in raids.

Some of the things that help me solo have also been an asset in raids - healing amp, improved evasion, and high resistances. The one thing all these have in common is that they help me keep or restore my hit points. Not being a one hit wonder also helps I do have over 400 hit points unbuffed.

I had to find my pigeon hole in order to be useful in raids or naturally raid groups would want to find someone who was. The one thing that can cause a raid to wipe faster than any other is characters/players that cannot get out of solo mode and help the team.

Meldolen clearly agrees that (thread) Necromancer is the best build.
