    Default Haggle Bard - Mississippi Queen

    Mississippee Queen U19

    Link here to the changes I made to Mississippee Queen for the enhancement pass. Feel free to utilize one of the versions below for stat and feat progression, or breeze through our tome here, filled with the who's who in the bard community over the last five years. Then, head over to the enhancements, which really bring out her CC strengths in U19 unlike ever before...

    ~~~ THE ORIGINAL MISSISSIPPEE QUEEN BARD ~~~
    Maybe the most talked about build in DDO that is the LEAST published is the mysterious haggle bard. However, when pushed, many who own a haggle bard will admit to only a 30ish to 40ish haggle skill. Some proper planning can really push the ceiling higher and net some great savings.
    A Human, pure bard is the best bet if you are looking to create a "haggle bot". At level 20, you can get your Haggle skill to 85 without ANY "rare" items. Here's the breakdown:
    Here's the correct updated math for a level 20, Human, MAX CHA Bard.
    STANDING HAGGLE:
    23: Ranks
    13: Charisma of 36 (I ate a +1 CHA tome)
    15: Haggle +15 item
    03: Feat: Skill Focus Haggle
    02: Feat: Negotiator
    04: Enhancement Haggle IV
    02: Luck Item from Head of Good Fortune (Reaver's Fate), Staff of Arcane Power (Zawabi's Revenge), Dream Edge (Mindsunder)
    06: Greensteel CHA skills +6 item
    03: Gem of Haggling (
    Buy from Guild Crystal Vendor in House Kundarak. Tiny (guild level 10) = +1, Small (guild level 25) = +2, Medium (guild level 45) = +3, Large (guild level 70) = +4)
    ----------------------
    +71 Haggle
    SELF BUFFS: (I click these BUFFS in this order, longest buff 1st)
    04: Greater Heroism
    01: Focusing Chant Spell
    05: Enhancement (Human Versatility IV)
    ----------------------
    +81 Haggle
    SITUATIONAL BUFFS:
    01: Essence of Seduction (Yugoloth Potion. Purchase potions from Azdaf the Wary in Amrath, Need 75 Yugoloth Favor)
    02: Fellow Bard Inspire Competence
    02: Monk buff from Monk feat: Walk of the Sun
    03: Potion of Eagle's Skill (
    House Deneith potion, need 1 Ritual Athame)
    ----------------------
    TOTAL: +89 Haggle (My personal max haggle.)
    Pushing it further: (+90 Haggle with a 38 CHA = +3 CHA tome) (+92 with a 41 CHA = Greensteel +3 CHA weapon)
    ** To get the +2 inspire competence, you need another bard to sing to you.
    ** The +3 CHA tome does not drop too often. The Shroud 20th completion rewards might contain this treasured tome.
    ** Haggle +15 items have been known to drop in Shroud chests.
    ** Focusing Chant spell is a level 1 Bard spell.
    I hate reading about builds loaded with +3 and +4 tomes... a lot of those guys dont even have half of the tomes the build calls for. This toon needs ZERO TOMES, however, even a guaranteed +2 CHA tome (1750 favor) and a +13 haggle item (fairly inexpensive at the auction house) gets your haggle into the high 60's. Not too shabby to get a heck of a deal in and around town, heh?....
    Here's my build, about some rich "cajun lady".... a Mississippee Queen....
    *** SPELLSINGER Caster Specced ***
    Study both the original and the upgraded versions. Leave as is or tinker to satisfaction. No preservatives. 100% fat free. Tested on animals and it works like a charm.
    Here's the current day Mississippee Queen. I fit in Spellsinger II rather seamlessly, cutting away some fat along the process. The Cajan Lady finally takes toughness, but leaves in Negotiator and Haggle focus, for a true Queen knows no boundaries accept the ones she purchases at a
    steep discount!
    To convert Mississippi Queen into a convincing melee threat, while maintaining her legendary (and $hiny) cajun quality, simply take these feats instead. With this feat layout you can go Spellsinger, for more spell points, or Warchanter, for better group melee buffs.
    Extend
    Weapon Focus: Slashing
    Power Attack
    Maximize
    Improved Critical: Slashing
    Debuting finally is Mississippee Queen II, a Spellsinger with much stronger melee, improved healing game, while trimming just 5 haggle and the crowd control feats. The newest Misissippee Queen is a trustworthy raid healer, who can contribute to the party DPS. She boosts party healing and casting through song, as well as boosting the party DPS.
    She still maintains some crowd control capacity, including fascinate, OID, and adds some sonic punch as well to her repertoire:
    Thank you for the input. I actually built a warchanter first, and was bored! He couldnt even come close to the DPS of my fighter and he was pretty gimped at healing. I decided I definately wanted to be much stronger at healing. A strong healing bard can be a huge help to a struggling cleric.
    However, I really appreciate your post because you show that a warchanter can actually haggle!! Warchanters play an important role in improving the DPS of the party, and really dont get the credit they deserve by the masses. Nice build.
    I also appreciated the math for the max haggle. I didnt list max though because I wanted to show how achievable it was to get into the high 60s/low70s.
    2 questions. how did u get 19 ranks? Also can you break down the 42 CHA...? thanks
    def gimped and boring compared to a real tank, but much less boring than haggling spellsinger imo.
    We can agree to disagree. See this build is not about front line excitement. I leave the killing to my other toons. This is a build that specializes in offering support in the heat of battle. I can inspire, buff, debuff, dispell, cure, heal, raise, disable the enemy AND get some of the best deals around town! I increase the likelihood we finish a tough quest or raid. When I dont want to just kill crapp, this gal fills a heck of a useful role. Actually several different roles. This is my "Chillll toon"
    Beat me to it! Oh well... here's the compendium description:
    Its hard to find, since it is a general skill check boost, not a haggle only boost.
    Yes indeed. When I first rolled Mississippee, I had to ask around to figure out what this monk buff was. At least 95% (im being very kind here) of the monks I asked had no clue what this "monk buff" even was, including some monks that have been playing from the beginning.
    This is what I meant when I said I made this toon partially for my guild. No bard can achieve "max haggle" by himself, it is a team sport. For most guild business, I'll have a bard and monk buff me up.
    The Walk of the Sun makes a monk a bard's best friend!
    You know that theory that says that if the first and last letters of a word are correct.. your mind will fill in the rest... that might explain why I thought he was showing us the build for a Huggle Bard.
    Default Decloaking to post
    Hello,
    I am brand new VIP subscriber (after a brief time F2P) to DDO (but a veteran of D&D 3.5e and 4.0e PnP campaigns), and after seeing how much money could be saved with a character specialized in Haggle, decided to see if there were any build concepts that would actually see some use out on the battlefield. I must say I am very pleasantly surprised to find this build, and even more so that the discussion is so civil.
    I had a few questions about how to play the build, and please realize in advance that my ignorance may cause some confusion.
    1. First, thank you very much for making a build that is so accessible to a new player with scant resources. Assume that I am leveling this toon up with no other source of income. If I advertise myself as a back-up healer/crowd controller, what exactly will a party expect from me? Assume we're talking about low levels here (1-10).
    2. For question (1) above, what consumables should I be carrying with me into a quest in a group situation? Again, assume low levels.
    3. Can I expect to fund my expenses with loot carried out of quests, or will there be some farming involved to guarantee the cashflow needed to supply the required consumables? Low levels again.
    4. Can you suggest key pieces of low-level gear that I can shoot for that would be especially effective to possess?
    If some of these questions can be answered by looking at a particular resource, please let me know. I am not too proud to do some reading.
    Finally, a couple questions about the build itself:
    1. Is there a reason why you chose Spellsinger as opposed to Virtuoso if your aim was to specialize in CC? What if you were to take Virtuoso (for the group CC) and swap out a feat for Heighten Spell?
    2. Can you elaborate on your other skill picks? Specifically, why is Perform not set to maximum? I cannot find any information that indicates how useful Perform is in DDO once you get the 21 ranks needed to perform Mass Suggestion.
    Again, if I had not made it clear, thank you so much for starting and keeping this informative thread alive since January. I'm definitely going to try this build out.
    P.S. I really am brand new to DDO. My early forum Join Date is due to some involvement with LOTRO, so please don't think I'm a troll!
    Ok, I'm going to tackle each question individually:
    This is a supurb toon to roll as your 1st because the 28pt version is so solid. She really can do everything the 32 pt build can do, with the exception of except less DPS output/to-hit. Even THAT can be overcome with a +2 STR tome to equal the 32 pointer. Advertising as a backup healer thru the lower levels is fine. But remember this, most DDO'ers dont have any idea everything you can add to a party. Its a very thankless job. However, you can make clerics and DPS'ers look very very good, and the conscious will recognize!
    Any wands pertinent to healing and curing. You'll want answers for poison, fear, curse, disease, and de-leveling. Blur wands can save you on healing. You also need spell components. As you get richer, you can add scrolls to the mix. As time goes by, you'll be able to use wands/scrolls like water.. its ok, you can afford to!
    Since you are focusing the 1st nine levels on building your feats/enhancements around your healing/spell penetration abilities... you wont be "rich" this early in the game. However, there is just not a whole lot of gear you NEED to buy for her. You always want to find the best devotion/potency/(greater)spell penetration items you can as you level. Your big item is haggle 15. You will need to save for it. Or get lucky and pull it. I found mine as the end reward in the Shroud raid, as did several other bards I know...
    Voice of the Master (+1 luck bonus to haggle & UMD)
    Best devotion/potency/spell penetration/greater spell penetration items (be careful for spell failure)
    Enchantment item (+1 DCs to your will based spells, get this early as possible, I like enchantment bracers, put em on and forget about them)
    Invisibility clicky (you can heal while invisible... huge advantage)
    Remove fear clicky (you cant do squat while feared. and it offers fear immunity for entire party)
    Golden Cartauche (UMD +3)
    Rabbit Gloves (if you want your +1 luck item on your gloves instead of your trinket)
    Spellsinger is > Virtuoso for this build. Spellsingers have more spellpoints. The only current advantage to going Virtuoso is a better Fascinate - but it's silly because a Spell Singer bard can fascinate just fine, and the Enthrall hotkey has to be used separately from Fascinate (and additionally, the Music of the Makers/Dead abilities also have separate hotkeys). And none of these work with the fascinate-based Suggestion/Mass Suggestion abilities. In other words on paper Virtuoso loooks great, in actuality it is completely gimped at what it is supposed to do best.
    Heighten is useless. Almost every spell singer will tell you that there is no noticeable difference with heightened turned on. Your max spell pen capability is > than anything heighten can do for you.
    Perform works just great where it is. No need to go higher. Sad truth is most parties will not allow you to fascinate everything, and worse will have to be constantly reminded NOT to hit them while fascinated. The "fascinate game" takes too long to be used ALL THE TIME. So, I use it situationally.
    Concentration is by far your most important skill in game. I can cast a dancing ball and survive almost any attack. Jump is key, I will jump right over trash mobs and cast irresistible dance on a bad-arse caster/cleric for example... oranged named as well. Balance is vital. If you go down, you are DEAD, as is most of the party relying on your heals
    The max number of ranks you can have in a skill is equal to your level +3
    Bonus = Stat(38) - 10 (28) /2 (14)
    No clue about the third one.
