    COLLECTED DDO INFORMATION
    .
    .
    .
    Module 8
    .
    .
    Risia
    • NEW: Arriving October 7th, and then go live with the Module later this year.

    • Release Notes for Risia will be available, something previously never done.
    .
    .
    The New Player Experience (NPE)
    .
    Character Generation

    • Players will no longer need to “unlock” character slots – all players will start the game with 10 character slots provided.

    • Players will still need to use the Favor system in order to have access to the Drow race and the 32 point character build choices to use with their 10 slots.

    • Any player with more characters than 10 from server merges, character transfers, etc. will need to delete down to the 10th slot in order to make a new character if they so desire. If you have more than 10 characters, we will not remove these excess characters, but you won't be able to create a new character, as you've already consumed 10 slots with the excess characters.

    • Using Premium Services, players are able to transfer characters onto a server even if they have 10 characters already - the transferred characters will be added to the total number of characters. However, if a player transfers a character from another server using our Premium Service feature to a server on which the player has less than 10 characters, it will consume one of their 10 provided character slots.

    • The new character creator breaks the process up into discreet steps, explaining to the player just what types of play experiences they can expect from the class.

    • "Paths" (builds) explain what statistics and feats to select and offers pre-sets and recommends next steps based on what kind of experience the player would like to have.
      • This process is optional.
      • May be used in part or as a whole means of leveling-up decision making.
      • Paths are single classed only as of Mod 8.
    .
    .
    Starter Experience

    • You do not fight the dragon in Korthos. You watch your NPC buddies chase it off, to be faced later in your career.

    .
    .
    Harbor Renovations

    Redesign
    • The New Harbor will be redesigned as a level 2 area. Some level 1 quests will, however, remain.

    • The Wavecrest area and section by the low road are now closed to traffic.

    • Refurbishing of several major hubs of foot traffic, and an overall improvement in the quality of docks and streets.

    • The pier now features solid earth-work docks.

    • Decaying decks have been replaced or repaired, more access stairs to the water have been added, and the Leaky Dinghy’s levitation spells were renewed.

    • Some repairs have been made to the walkway leading up the Harbor’s cliff face, including the addition of boardwalks along the cliff top.

    • The Founder’s Commemorative Fountain has been relocated to the revamped Harbormaster’s Plaza.

    • New construction has opened up the view all the way from the Plaza to Philosopher’s Row.

    • New additions to the Row include a grand reopening of the Hammer and Chain, as well as a branch of the House Kundarak Bank.

    Quests
    • The New Harbor will be redesigned as a level 2 area. Some level 1 quests will, however, remain.

    • Old Sullly's Grog quest replaced with a quest involving an in-tavern battle.

    • The Jorn family has relocated their family crypt to the base of the Harbor Cliff.

    • Relocated business and residences onto the new cliff-top, including Miller Tarrigan and "Eyegouger" McGeorge.

    • Some kobolds have been evicted from the Aspirant’s Corner sewers, including Scrag. He is now located in the Warehouse District.

    Content
    • There are some new monsters, as well as the sahuagin, which will emerge as a primary monster in Mod 8.

    • New players will be able to get an additional three-to-five hours out of the expansion if they rush through. The higher-level content is still in development, but Turbine is expecting between five-to-ten hours altogether.

    • Additional Crafting recipes will arrive, but they're still working on the complicated major system. The full crafting system will not be included with Mod 9 either.
      • Module 8 will feature a new series of Eldritch recipes used in the creation of Dragontouched Armor.

    • Return of the Reaver, who is amassing an army of undead dragons to continue the fight.
      • You'll be taken to him and allow you to understand what he's doing and help him, or circumvent his intentions to better aid the people that are suffering.

    .
    .
    Hirelings
    • AI Companions that can fill out party roles if there aren't enough humans playing.

    • They don't "level". There is literally a selection of hirelings for every level up to 16. You just pick the one that is appropriate to your level/group at the time. Every time you contract the same hireling, it's going to behave in a similar way every time. They don't evolve.

    • They will have a subset of the same classes, spells, feats, etc available to you.

    • They will have character levels, enhancements, and equipment.

    • Distinct Personalities: Polite Cleric: "be right there" "anything you say" "you're the boss". Arrogant Sorcerer: "ugh, do I have to?" Some of the casters tend to be a little more mana-burn crazy than others. They will all follow your commands though, but when you order them to be "active" they do what they think is the most helpful. Hirelings of the same level have different personalities, so you may choose one who is all offense, or another more reserved.

    • They can climb ladders and jump. If they get stuck in any way, you can make them teleport to you, so they should never get permanently left behind.

    • They will drop soulstones like normal people and hang around as ghosts like normal people. They'll be able to use rez shrines, and can be raised.

    • NEW: It's possible to dismiss your hireling at any time you want, and even resummon them (though it acts like a one-charge clicky in that you'll need to rest before you can resummon the hireling again once you dismiss them.)

    • A player may only have one hireling active at a time, and total group size (including hirelings) remains 6.

    • Multiple Hirelings may be allowed in future modules should they prove to not be performance-intensive.

    • Currently they're restricted them from raids - they tend to misbehave in them.

    • Current choices are Clerics, Sorcerers and Fighters. There are no Monks, Bards, Rogues or Rangers. Exploring what can be done with them later down the road depending on how players work with them. "Who knows, we may never even need to impliment rogue or bard hirelings, it just depends on how this first batch works out. We're carefully weighing whether or not to include rogue hirelings."

    • Ability to Rez you.

    • Unable to be summoned into "solo" option quests ("cause after all if you're with a hireling, you're not solo"). They are able to go into landscapes as long as the landscape is for 6 people.

    • They work for you and you alone. It's only concerned with your well being. If you want them to heal/buff your party mates, you have to explicitly tell them to do so. If they're using an AOE though, it will affect party members in range.
    .
    .
    Spells

      • Air Stances will partially stack with Enhancement bonuses to attack speed, as well as Tempest or Thief-Acrobat.

    .
    .

*Note: Divine Might cannot be dispelled, and cannot be used while under the effects of a Quell's Intercession ability.

    .
    General

    • Breakable space: Barrels and other flotsam washed up upon the beach can be kicked or knocked over, revealing...well, nothing yet, but what was being demo'd was a beta build. With this in game there are lots of neat things the team can build into the world, and Kate seemed pretty excited over it.

    • From here on out events in the new Live Theater will "spring" on you, but you really won't need any prior instructions. If you see that the Theater doors are open you're welcome to head over, and the event host will tell you everything you need to know during the show. Any really large scale events will definately come with a prior heads up, instructions on how you can get in on the action, and a rough idea of what you can expect to see.

    • Turbine is changing a few details behind the scenes of DDO to deal with spam, which should help with a lot of the spam messages currently being received.

    • The effect animations on weapons are much more random then they currently are on live, and that they play very similar to how you remember them to.

    • NEW: Collectors will now remove collectables from both your inventory, and directly from your collectibles bag.

    Module 9
    .
    .
    Release Date
    .
    .
    Content

    • More arkons, more demons and devils, and a nice balance of celestial and demonic stuff.

    • Concept art for a fortress is in, where as each army fell there, the next army was built on top of it. So there are cliffs with siege engines sticking out of them and crumbling leftover bricks underfoot.

    • There will be lots of high levelly goodness.
    .
    .
    Enhancements
    • (Dwarven) Defender
      • Fighter
      • Like Arcane Archer, the Defender will not be restricted to one race (nor will they be alignment restricted). Dwarves are likely to be able to take it regardless of class, however, if they meet the other prerequisites.
      • D&D 3.5 Description.

    Future

    .
    .
    Content
    • Implementation of a full crafting system is underway. No release date yet, but working hard on it.

    • The ability to deconstruct items will be released with the full crafting system as deconstructing things will generate raw materials for crafting. High level powerful items will be one of the material goals of crafting, but characters will also be able to make all sorts of items that can be used by characters of all levels. To begin with, the crafting system will focus on the making of equippable items like weapons, shields, armor, and accessories. Magic arrows and potions certainly may come later.

    • Subterrane rare encounter Garamol is getting extra special loot added to his room in an upcoming module.

    • Post level 20: Kate Paiz says she's not worried at all. Epic levels and prestige classes would fit great in the game, and that's planned for next year, as are Half-Orc (next race planned, expected first half of '09) and Half-Elf races. They want to expand more into the various Planes -- Shavarath will be first, but after that they're planning to head into a few more different ones.
    .
    .
    Classes
    • The Druid (next class planned) class got switched with the level cap in terms of priority -- and they're trying to make sure that the transformation of the character into the avatar was right, not just in terms of how the character plays but in terms of how it interacts with other things in the game world. They're still iterating on that one -- they want to make sure it feels perfect. They are aiming for a nice diversity when thinking about what kind of forms Druids will have access to, but it's still too early to hit on specifics for that class.

    • Paladin:
      • Holy Avenger in the works. Expect that a task or two to prove your worth may be required. The more levels of Paladin you possess, the more abilities on the Holy Avenger will be unlocked. There will likely be a minimum number of Paladin levels (as yet to be determined) to get the quest to recover the item.
    .
    .
    Enhancements
    • Arcane Archer: An additional sub-enhancement is coming that will allow the Arcane Archer to imbue their arrow with a Magic Missile effect, granting additional force damage. More are planned in the future, including things like "Fireball arrow".

    • Prestige enhancements are planned for fighters and paladins. Before that, however, the melee classes (especially fighters) will see an array of tactical feats made available to them.
    .
    .
    General
    • NEW: Quarterstaves currently do not inherently produce glancing blows on their first attack. This is under review, along with a couple of other potential additions to the Two Handed Fighting line.

    • Bane handwraps will be making a return to a loot table near you in an upcoming release.

    • D&D 4th Edition: For the time being (DDO) is still a 3.5 Edition game. Starting to roll out some of the 4th Edition rule set where it makes sense, though. Evaluating the changes and seeing which ones are relevant and impactful. Don't plan on removing the monk and sorcerer, but there are a lot of great things in 4E that they look forward to adapting to their needs over time.
    .
    .
    Bug Fixes
    .
    .
    DeadlyGazrbo
    .
    Thoon

    .
    Eladrin
    • Monk fixes
      • The Monk Fire-Fire-Fire finisher has been renamed "Breath of the Fire Dragon", and no longer caps at 5d4 damage.
      .
      • Due to the increased difficulty of completing an attack chain, the Save DC's for Monk Finishers have been raised from 10 + Half Monk Level + Wisdom Modifier to 10 + Monk Level + Wisdom Modifier.
      .
      • The Monk enhancement "Way of the Tenacious Badger" now functions as expected.
      .
      • The movement speed penalty on Mountain Stance has been reduced.
      .
      • Higher levels of Mountain Stance now grant more Ki when critically hit, and have increased Damage Reduction.
      .
      • Higher levels of Sun Stance now grant more Ki on critical hits.
      .
      • The thrown weapon speed bonus from Ten Thousand Stars has been increased. (Note: The nature of Ten Thousand Stars may change in the future, but it will remain a "more thrown weapons" type of ability.)
      .
      • Updated the description of Healing Ki to "Heals all nearby allies for 1d4 points of positive energy, plus an additional 1d4 every two monk levels."
      .
      • Fixed errors in monk character generation advice.

Holy cow, I can't believe that instead of posting a single topic you created a second topic on the exact same topic.

Holy cow, I can't believe that you are trolling this thread for absolutely no reason.
He had an idea, acted on it. Multiple threads happen ALL THE TIME around here.
    This is good work.

OP - You have the update listed as a patch (not update), with a link that tells me it is an update. It is indeed update 7.0.2

    Well linked topic.

You could probably flesh out a slight bit more of the 7.0.2 based on the info in the QA News section of the QA Lodge... but with release notes out tomorrow... no real reason.

I wonder if the DX10 beta client is still with 7.0.2... though they probably want to wait for a new Module and NPE to push that tech.

Excellent work! Please consider adding it to the DDO Wiki (www.ddowiki.com) as it'll be a great place to permanently house all of that hard work. Fantastic effort!

quite an amazing amount of work. It is much appreciated.

I cannot believe turbine wouold be so bad at informing customers that someone would have to take all that time and work to do it.

You should get a few free months due to their laziness and your hard work.

I'm guessing they moved it when they moved the NPE to Mod 8. I was just hoping we'd get something new than a few fixes with our summer "update".

The presence of this kind of monk info in that post has lead several players to believe this stuff is coming, as opposed to already being here.
