It has come to our attention that there is a phishing mail going around, that looks official.
Turbine would like to take this opportunity to remind our valued customers to NEVER share your password with anyone for any reason, by any means! Turbine will NEVER ask for your password, in person, in-game or in an email. If any person claims to work for Turbine, and asks for your password, do not provide it, as it is unlikely that they are being honest.
This particular email threatens that if you do not reply to the email with various sensitive information, your account will be permanently suspended. Sending such information by email is especially dangerous, because anyone can read and steal email in transit.
The email in question requests the following information:
(Generally it is okay to give your username to Turbine staff, if you're sure you're speaking with staff, as it is required to assist you)
(Again, NEVER give your password, even to someone who claims they are staff)
CD-Key used to activate this account:
(NEVER give your CD key out. This is as dangerous as giving your password or credit card number away)
Any emails that may be linked to this account:
(Probably to try and gain access to your email account)
The date of when you last logged into this account:
(To attempt to convince a real employee that they own the account, should the need arise)
Secret Question and Answer:
(At this time, Turbine does not even use a secret question system. We suspect they would like this information to access your email account if possible.)
