    Default Ice sword

I have played with several people who have "ice swords." They wack a bad guy with it and the bad guy freezes up and shatters. How does that work, exactly? Is it the result of a critical hit or just the killing blow?

    Thanks.

If you kill a mob with an ice sword (Frost or Icy Burst), hey will die freezing. The ice effect increade the damage of the sword (1d6) but does not make the mob die before his HP equal zero.

No the monster does not die frozen, it's just cool graphics.

And, it actually doesn't have to be the last hit. It just has to be within that last few seconds of the mobs life. Unless there are multiple effects being used (like one w/ acid, one w/ pure good, one w/ frost), in which case it seems to use whichever effect was the latest to hit the mob.
