    Thumbs down Demon Queen Raid

On the list of changes not listed in the release notes.

The archers in the court are now RED NAMED and thus have their immunities.

Upon completetion of the quest and the Queen is dead, the archers live on to poon you with arrows.

As we completed a 6 man run, our 2 surviving party members were soon overwhelmed with an onslaught of arrows until dead. Leaving the all of us very disappointed and dismayed. Because in order to retry the raid, we all would have to turn in the 3 items, and run ADQ....

    Thanks for the heads up...

It is in the release notes.
I guess that was a lesson to you: always carry a ranged weapon.

That sucks. I had a similar bad experience...

But it could easily be fixed. It's just a simple flaw in quest design. Had the same thing happenedin say the stormreaver raid, you guys would be fine. You could of simply left 1 guy in and release out , re-enter to clear the remaining mobs and get the reward.

The way the demon queen is set up, especially now with the uber crippling boss type archers is poor.

They should allow you to re-enter the raid after it is complete by putting the portals back in, to fix such problems.

Judging by the new setup on the stormreaver, I imagine future raids will also allow this since the raid chest itself is the most important and being locked out of it for 3 days does indeed suck.

I must have been looking in the wrong place. If was mentioned in the release notes for 4.1 or final release notes, I overlooked it.. my bad.

Still. Not cool to have to face that many red named mobs. I guess that's how we get rewarded for hard work.

what's next? making the air elementals in stormreaver red named, when enough people find ways to beat it easily?

In the stormreaver raid if you die and release after the raid is completed you will NOT be able to get back in.

The quest is marked as finished and you have to go to cydonie to get your reward. This happened to one of my guildies that was up in the rez room, he jumped down to get his chest and got caught by an unlucky fireball, and killing him. We no longer had anyone in the rez to pull the lever and he was forced to recall. Unfortunatly the door was unresponsive and he lost out on his loot.

Try it for your self next time AFTER you loot the chests.

I believe that you can jump down to the lower part in the lava and the effretti's don't spawn. This should give you the ability to heal/rez the rest of the people in the group and then go deal with the archers. I will check this the next time I solo her.

As far as the archers they did not that in the release notes. I am guessing this was to stop the weakening and or cloudkilling tatics that were used before.

To be honest I found her easier after the patch. Maybe it was just the luck of the rolls.

Default Melee party failure looking for advice

If you want to melee her to death what buffs should fighters have besides the following:
    displacement
    true seeing
    gh
    haste

We tried the other night and failed bc we weren't buffing properly I think. Also we were trying to do this without the help of our guild's ranger who we rely heavily upon but we wanted to try another strategy. Oppinions and critiques welcome.

I've found she's pretty easy to melee. Your buffs are okay. Add in some stoneskin, barkskin, and some fortification items. You can probably use blur instead of displacement (seems to work fine for me). If you are having trouble hitting her, bring a bard along.

When you are meleeing her, make sure she comes to you, rather than you going to her. Find a relatively safe spot and wait for her to come to you. Near one of the columns is best ... it seems that some columns are better than others for some reason.

Also, make sure you've got so cold iron weapons -- the Invaders named weapons all do very well to tear through her. But anything with cold iron and holy or pure good will work well.

Fire, acid and elec resist are all very good ideas.

She casts burning blood and chaing lightning so mitigating some of the damage from that is nice. Also SR from a high level cleric is really nice, it helps prevent the ROE from the effrettis.

The named weapons from invaders or gtr evil/chaotic outsider banes work really well on her.

displacement/blur only work for the archers. the queen has true seeing on all times
If you want to know why...

    Default Well

The easiest way is to not get any of the archer aggro for the whole party. It is possible. I do it every time I solo or duo her. PM me if you want to know how. I will not post my strategy for the whole world to see.

If you think hanging out in the lava is a good way to go, this tells us you haven't been inside this dungeon for months.

Sorry, not buying it. Your last post indicates that you may have done dq2 a long time ago. She is still soloable yes, but jumping down into the lava? Stop fooling yourself.
Real rangers don't need to jump off that ledge for any reason. I guess ghey ones might when they get crippled. Personally i prefer women.

I didn't mean into the lava (which is deep lava), I meant in the ledge area that is surrounded by the lava. The effrettis cast Force missles, Fireball and ROE. Which if you have evasion and a decent UMD or a clickie force missles are easy to deal with.

If by a real ranger you mean dex based then if your on lhaazar feel free to group with me anytime, my dwarven Str based ranger will out kill you any day and has much greater versatility than a dex ranger will ever have.

The last time I soloed her was 2 weeks ago. I pulled everything I needed from this raid and have had no reason to do it solo since. Personally I would like to see a crippled pure ranger out run the DQ. I was giving an option for those people who can't out run her the possiblity of not having to start over.

Heres a tip for you, JUMP!!!!!!!!!!! if you run and jump, and dont stand and take it, you wont get hit, even on elite. believe me or not, i have run is since the update, and its really not that much harder, norm or elite. i really hope that a cleric wasnt the one of the two alive, cause if he was, at the end and she was dead, he could have jumped down to prtal and just raised you all. but anyway, better luck next time, and remember if its YOU vs. RANGED, jump around!
