Would there be a down side to removing all raid flagging?

Already there are raids with no flagging at all. - Tempest spine, Riding the storm out, HoX, Vision of Destruction, Legendary Hox, Legendary Tempest Spine

Others people might miss out on because they TR'd and are no longer flagged for a raid. Many of the flagging quest will still be run for loot or xp or because they are simply fun.

I am sure there is something I am not thinking of so share your thoughts on is this a good idea or bad?

It could make it easier for friends to run raids together if everyone is always flagged for every raid.

ps I think the timer should remain

So having a mix of flagging and nonflagging raids is bad? Take the Titan raid (I do run it every now and then, btw) I will take people to get their sigil pieces to run the raid and walk them thru as a guide. Yes it is one time run for flagging but according to another post they may be changing Abbott to this system. The other ones like Shroud are easily run to get the stones for flagging. There is flavor and a story line to those that would be lost/overshadowed by lets just run this raid without flagging. (This is my opinion and others may disagree with it.)

As a note I did run a Titan raid at level (prereaper and precannith craftfting update) with a 4 man team and managed to finish it on elite. One of the best and most memorable raids I have ever done. (Docsin on Thelanis can confirm)

Not at all. Just wondering if at this stage of the life of the game, Is flagging necessary?

Flagging for most raids is not difficult, other raids more time consuming. I am mostly just thinking out loud. Anytime I TR I have to re-flag most raids, not a big deal. However sometimes I am in the correct level range for a raid to run with friends, but I have not had time to flag for it, so I miss out that run.

So I am wondering what is the down side if SSG removed the need to flag?

Raid flagging is part of the story arc of the pack..
would be dumb to make all this content and not have a reason to run it because you could just skip and run the Raid..

I wouldn't mind a sigil, or other option that allowed you to not have to regrind flagging components once you have completed the initial flagging.
This way you have to at lest run it once in its entirety..

Streamlining some of the arc's wouldn't be a bad solution either..
CITW has a heavy flag path.. 11 quests over and above getting to FR.. so may even need another 4 from the LOD series/beyond the rift..
while..
Legendary Shroud.. 2 quests that can be flagged on heroic...

or even offer some sort of buy option to skip quests like using Astral shards/VIP .. similar to saga completion..
a DDO store flag bypass option.. we already have timer bypasses...

I'm not a fan of lottery flagging like Litany of the Dead sigils and Stealer of Souls gems, but I rather like the concept of completing quests to flag for raids.

I would definitely kill the ADQ1 re-flagging requirement for ADQ2, and I'd add an NPC teleporter guy to Amrath who sends you to the ToD cavern for the price of 3 astral shards.

Raid flagging I liked:
- Vault of Night
- Reaver's Fate
- Shroud
- Lord of Blades (could use a wilderness teleporter dude)
- Master Artificer (ditto)
- Caught in the Web
- Fall of Truth

To the OP, you forgot Chronoscope in your list of raids that have no flagging.

given how dead are raids right now, adding a nuissance as flagging (for those who don't run all quests, or haven't run them yet) just makes the situation more annoying for those forming who can say "ddo it's dead"

so to revitalize old raids or make easier to fill raids, i would remove flagging (which is a pity, all that dev work wasted, but most players don't read just smash, and prolly will run the same quesr for favor, loot or xp) not right after release, but maybe after 2 years or so, it could be even sooner lol, ppl squeeze the raid the first 2-3 months and good luck finding someone online and flagged for what you wanna run

in fact i would remove raid flagging and prerequisites for quests/raids and make everything walkup, so you can whatever you want when you want, without planning on advance (run prequest, grab the quest, whatever)

In the game of hamster wheels where everyone runs through the same flagging 20+ times to the point they don't bother anymore there is literally no point for any flagging.

Just a yes or no?? Well....no!

I think some should be streamlined, Titan is just not run nearly as much as it should be but remove ALL flagging? No way.

I wouldn't remove flagging for new toons. I voted no because of that.

But maybe they could keep flagging for reincarnated players. So if you TR you don't loose flagging. I wouldn't mind that and would vote yes in that case.

But I fear that keeping flagging after TR would potentially cause problems with progressing storylines that reset after TR.

For example, the guy that gives The Shroud raid also progresses the Meridia story line. So they would have to reconfigure that NPC to allow both running the Shroud raid and to progress the storyline. And that would be much work for the developers.

I think a 3rd TR should, as a bonus, remove the need for flagging. You should just be able to open or join any quest or raid included alongside unlocking defualt Elite difficulty. By that point, you've likely already run the flag quests a time or two. And even if you haven't - I feel that you've invested the time and effort in the game to deserve a creature-comfort like that.

I don't think we should just remove all of flagging carte blanche... but as an earnable perk, I think it would be acceptable. And since the TR Wheel has become the design-choice of the game's future and longevity - I think putting in a few more goodies would maybe inspire those like me who hate TRing to get around to actually doing a bit of it. If I could knowingly end the hassle of flagging... well, it would be a nightly lure.

I voted YES, with this caveat in mind.

I think part of the issue for me is that I see the flagging as an integral part of the journey to the raid.

Yes in the past they have streamlined flagging - You don't have to Run VoN 1-4 in Order each time you want to be able to run the raid. You don't have to run the 3 Quests in the Desert each time to open up the DQ raid. Those in my mind are good streamlines.

I liked the idea they are streamlining the Abbot Raid on the sigil with 8 random collectibles system.

But I don't think I could just say "Just remove the flagging all together". At least at this I'm not convinced removing flagging would be better.
