TLDR: hey pls allow us to place the magical d20 inside the dice bag again now that it's harmless, would be nice to have that inventory space back and i'm one of those guys that keep twigs and coal in alts just in case

I have asked for this before but been told that it would never happen.

but if it cannot be made bankable, or put inside the dice bag again, can it be turned into a functional item that does a /roll 1d20 in party chat if you double click on it?

All of the bard songs now list appropriate durations, PDK feat now lists appropriate duration, Chactar Luridae will hopefully keep their name this go around, cleric thing - divine cleansing? - now lists appropriate duration, I've deleted warlocks, and some other stuff that's totally insanely cool but can't show you guys until u36!

Why did you delete both warlocks AND stuff that's "totally insanely cool"? Is it one of those yin/yang balancing activities?
This is because of people being obnoxious on the forums!?! I, um, thought that's what we were supposed to do. I'm sorry. Can we have "totally insanely cool" things again? Please.

Also if you delete warlocks - Who's going to Phwoosh, Phwoosh, Phwoosh all the mobs I've mass held or missile venomed? Every party needs a leaf blower or 5 Phwooshing.

Guess I could get used to melee doing dps... more of Whack, whack, phwam, plang, ting for each Phwoosh though. Except for Mr. Stevens from catering... that tray. Amazing.

The devs were honest with why the stone of change thing is not going to be fixed in the near term. I love that honesty. I'm pretty sure almost any dev understands how databases work. I'm pretty they understand the enormity of the mess that the original stone of change "coding" is. They said it wasn't a normal database. And that the conversion would be nasty and complex.

So no +1 by Steelstar was needed?

At the end of the day, SSG has to decide where to put their resources. Having a DBA, and one who is good, i.e. expensive spend 6 months fixing some spaghetti code from 8+ years ago for a feature that really has no useful function anymore and no one really uses (and there are not a lot of people who are working on crunching dragonshards). Or use that same money/resource to get out new content that the majority of the players are going to benefit from.

Have you not been reading all the dev posts on this thread where Lynnabel is explaining how she is addressing the issues? She posted dozens of times on here explaining everything in clear language. Yet you grasp on to ONE response of dozens and whine about how Devs aren't addressing things.

When you have the "Actually" guy point out super-obvious things about databases to Devs, I don't think the Devs are really going to give that guy too much credence. Essentially the "Actually" guy is insulting the devs by saying "I don't think you guys have any idea what you are doing so let me explain something super-obvious to you about databases and what a DBA is... why didn't you think of this already?"

I'll file the above under "obvious". Steelstar could have easily made an appropriate response but chose not to.

Defending 12 year old code doesn't explain why they destroyed stealth play to prevent casual players from picking off mobs one at a time. "Realism" is a faux argument, because someone will need to explain to me how AoE spells only hit enemies. Having broken stealth, with the current set of devs, I am waiting to here how/when they are going to address what they broke without passing the buck as 12 year old problems they didn't create. I don't appreciate casual players now blaming everything under the sun (past lives, etc), now that they took yet another one of their tools (picking off with ranged, one at a time) away.

Notice the lack of admission that there is even a stealth/agro issue, and the attempt by Lynnabel to say there is not an issue?

Lastly, listing negatives towards devs as a positive "being part of the team" is a way to justify behavior that could have been avoided in the first place (at least in these 2 cases), by not posting a +1, and by not telling people that actually know how to play stealth that Lynnabel's four lives somehow let her understand the complexities of the agro system, in direct contrast to (20+ players) that have 1000x the combined experience with the stealth system.

Will devs learn from critical feedback, or ignore it and tell themselves they were correct all along?

All I can say is the purpose of the forums is to provide that critical feedback, and it's their game to succeed or fail with.

I would prefer, if Lynnabel tells us devs are too busy to read or respond to the thread, any additional dev responses are well thought out and informative, relevant to furthering discussion, and not of the +1 nature.

Dunno if this bug should be here, but in lvl 15 quest in Eveningstar "Escape Plan" the spell "Evard's Black Tentacles" is not working all the time.
It spend the SP, got timer and do the graphic but nothing happens to de mob (only work like... 1/20). Probly something with the graphic on the quest... near water nothing happens... on land... sometimes work. (and sorry for my bad english). (and is not a character build issue)

oh and the whole "Hey you stop touching your twists!" dealio is rough but necessary, it's part of the "hey stop touching EDs in heroics, I mean it!!!" system. Sorry! I'll see if I can get it to, uh, stop yelling.

I don't even mind it yelling multiple times once. But to have it spam every time you zone is unbearable.

In the third Artie tree, Harper Agent, there is a tier 4 enhancement called Magic of Austerity which functions just like eschew materials. However, it does not work on the level 2 artie spell lucky cape, it does work on elemental weapons and lightning sphere, both of which normally require the same component.

Yeah, if you click it during heroics at all, it will yell at you every time you zome until you hit epics and talk to the fatespinner. It's beyond obnoxious; I've accidentally clicked it a couple times (once at lvl 4....ugh).

SSG: I hope you are taking note of this. As people who program and do technical things for your jobs, I'm sure none of this EVER occurred to you. This person has solved all your problems if only you do what he says. It's as easy as that. Forget about 12+ years of coding in DDO that you inherited. just hire a DBA and BAM! DDO is all good. I don't know why you guys didn't think of this. Genius!

I appreciate the sarcasm, and Steelstar's reply is also funny, if not for the reasons he might think. But despite my not being intimate with the platform the devs are working with, they have themselves described exactly what I laid out as the core issue. The players didn't invent the term "spaghetti code," I believe that was a dev quote. And no matter how *ahem* funny it might be to try to laugh off a post that pokes at a wound, the wound exists.

The patch-on-patch-on-spaghetti code does concern me. If you look at WoW, which is just as old as DDO, they don't have half the lag/bug/performance issues DDO has. They keep up with the vast majority of the bugs and such. I personally don't like WoW, but for many people, given a choice between a buggy game and a smoother game, they'll choose the one that is less frustrating to play. That's not to say WoW doesn't have bugs; but they prioritize fixes higher.

They also have more resources, but DDO might have more resources too if the priorities were different. Content is important, but at some point the performance issues will overwhelm content. Content is useless if you can't play it. DoJ is a good example - it lags so badly I've either wiped or near-wiped probably 3/4 of the time. Consequently, we don't run it much. And players that love the game and put money into it have left over increasingly serious performance issues, which reduces resources.

I'm pointing this out because the issue of priorities has come up several times in this thread, and I'm becoming more and more concerned that leaving the more complicated bugs alone because "content is the priority" may actually kill the game. You can't retain players or attract and hold new players if performance issues keep increasing in severity and frequency.

Hi:

I understand this is the place to mention items needing correction, especially the ones that have been around for a long time.

1) When completing the quest "Maze of Madness" in Gianthold, the end-reward NPC "Eebilsteenk, Blackheart Grunt" does not show a checkmark over his head indicating an end-reward is available and thus can not be located with the map.

2) When using the teleporter NPC, "Eldovar Fleetleaf, Mountain Guide", at the entrance of Storm Horns, and paying with Astral Shards, the quest "A Break in the Ice" is listed as "A Breach in the Ice". Need to replace "Breach" with "Break".

Will add more later, if they are not already listed on this thread.

Thanks for your help.

It's worth looking at what happened recently in OW with Kaplan. It's easy as developers to get frustrated with players who don't understand or don't appreciate what goes on and lash out. What's important to remember is that we wouldn't be here if we weren't passionate about the game as well. Every time a developer makes a snide comment or ignores someone because of some petty whatever, it's very unprofessional and leaves a sour taste in many peoples mouths.

We can all appreciate the idiocy of "Well just fix the DB!" We all got a chuckle of it sure. But now that person is soured on the game and the dev team. Steel opted to (indirectly) mock the poster instead of reaching out to him and saying, "We're trying but it's insanely complex and we have to balance putting out short term content that in turn allows us to work on fixing long term issues. We're aware of the problems and as soon as we have a good solution you know we'll implement it." As much as I agree with Steel, it's also unprofessional and I can see how it would irk some people.

It's a small dev team with very close knit ties to the community and they aren't exactly a corporate environment so I don't exactly expect the same level of professionalism out of them that I do out of a company like Blizzard. On the other hand they're still game developers so they should be looking at a rant as a passionate person giving feedback. Instead of seeing 'yet another idiot who doesn't understand how complex the issue is' they should see 'a customer is really, really upset by this and has made it clear this is high on his list of what he dislikes about the game.'

A good example at DDO is Torc. I blasted the **** out of RtSO and pointed out how it was one giant pile of garbage. His response? "Thanks for the feedback, here are my thoughts on your points, thanks for playing DDO, I'm always looking to improve the game!" That made me supremely happy and I went out and bought the pack anyways because I was glad they hired someone like him back on.

On the other hand I post about how I think Lynn might not be understanding why we don't like the current stealth mechanics because she possibly didn't play one during the 'golden' era of stealth play. Instead of a "I understand you guys don't like the current iteration, we're reviewing it, can you tell me more about what you don't like?" I got attitude. It's kind of soured me on the process and I've decided to stop buying stuff in the store for awhile on my accounts and lost the energy to keep hyping the game on the various gaming forums I visit.

I absolutely love the work Steel does and his quests/content have been some of my favorite (with a handful of exceptions obviously). But pointing out someones lack of understanding in such a manner is what we the passionate forumites are for. I would gladly spend all day pointing out all the things about people like Chai that have already gotten me infractions. However, I would never want Cordo to call him out in such a manner.

Like I said, I would really recommend reading what happened with OW and Kaplan.

tl;dr version:

Forum poster gets aggravated and makes a post saying, "Does blizzard even play their own game?" Kaplan responds by saying that he has won 800 more games than the poster. All of OW community goes "Oh snap!"

That should be the end of it right? Forum poster smacked down? Hurray for the good guys?

Well, turns out forum poster was just a passionate player who was frustrated. Kaplan ended up reaching out to him, apologized for his post, they had some dialog about what had upset the guy, now they are besties.

Now let's turn our heads back to DDO. Steel put the guy back in his place. Hurray for the good guys! Who cares if some random idiot who thinks databases are easy is now hurt and upset that a developer called him out, right? Screw that guy. Right?

Not really the point. Had DDO kept up with fixes instead of workarounds and patches, it probably wouldn't be such a mess of code right now. If nearly equal priority was given to keeping up with fixes instead of just pushing out content content content (which invariably adds more bugs on top of spaghetti code patches), it would be in better shape. I'm not asking for a whole QA campus. I'm just bothered that the more complex fix requests always seem to get a response of "sorry, too much time, content is king."

Comtent is worthless if performance sucks.

Well, turns out forum poster was just a passionate player who was frustrated. Kaplan ended up reaching out to him, apologized for his post, they had some dialog about what had upset the guy, now they are besties. The rude poster (their own words) initiated the appology circle by combing through OW support and found someone to relay their appology to Kaplan, who then replied. Had said rude poster not initiated the apologetic follow-up, that story seems quite likely to have ended with the Dev's comment.

I especially like this closing from the rude poster: "So moral of the story, appreciates the devs. Don't be rude like I was because they truly care about their players. I've learned from my mistakes..."

Now let's turn our heads back to DDO. Steel put the guy back in his place. Hurray for the good guys! Who cares if some random idiot who thinks databases are easy is now hurt and upset that a developer called him out, right? Screw that guy. Right? Now turning our heads back to DDO, I wonder how many of our rude posters go to any effort (let alone the efforts of the OW rude poster) to make amends for their Dev-targeted bull shenanigans? So maybe not "screw that guy," but more "dude, ya had it coming." Fling enough **** and eventually it comes back on ya - or at least it should. If you're going to tell someone how to do their job, at least do some diligence to be in the ballpark of correct.

It's a curious cycle for sure.

"How do we pay our bills while we fix these old bugs?"

"No worries, we'll use the money from the content to fix the bugs!"

It's great to see you smashing through some of these small fixes. It improves the quality of the game experience overall, for sure!

Here's another one : In Grim and Barett, the two trap boxes in Grim's little corridor don't actually toggle to a "disarmed" control box graphic - they remain in the "newly discovered" graphic even after they've been disarmed.

They're looking into it. DDO has some really weird licensing restrictions to the point where I believe they're not allowed to even touch certain things or I imagine by now they would have moved to the cinematic to a new NPC right next to the quest giver by now.

The best we can probably hope for is the cinematic remembering your sound settings so you can at least mute it.

In the interim all you can really do is mash the enter key and it should skip the scene before it plays. Not useful for first timer players ambushed by it but much like 90% of the nuances of DDO once you know...

No need to smash the enter key.

Just hit the [end] key once on your keyboard. It ends the video right there and return to the world screen with the NPC right in front of you showing the rewards list.

I understand the aggro was fixed to stop allowing the ranged players to pick off monsters one at a time, but the new system where whoever damages or influences any monster in the combat area gets ALL monster aggro (mostly ranged or caster) and allows the melees and then other casters to take pot shots at the other 15 monsters attracted to their hearts content with almost no chance or pulling back aggro is definitely even less realistic. I can understand that the guy that got an arrow in his face may be barbarian raged and not thinking straight, but the other 15 buddies are coming for a fight and would not run past 5 characters (lets say three melees and two other casters with no interest), even as they take passing potshots is definitely nothing similar to a game reality, and I personally would say even less realistic than a ranger at the far end of visual distance, being able to pick off monsters having trouble locating the culprit. I know I often have had trouble finding monsters hitting me with missiles in the game, why not them (even to the point of being killed or nearly killed- especially in elite content)?

Hi Lynnabel,

Again, apologies if this was covered already, but the Ironskin Chant on any of the bard hires that have it doesn't work at all. The hire will play the song, but nothing will happen. The DR bonus isn't applied, regardless of whom is targeted.

I think they were broken when DDO moved to the current enhancement systems, and just never fixed. Would be nice if the hire clickie worked.

Thanks much!

In the Threnal Chain, when you go back to speak to the quest givers after the final quests for the east and west excavations, the UI for restarting the quest shows up before you can really continue on the quest chain (IIRC when you are selecting loot). Often, it forces you to repeat the respective side/s before talking to the last quest giver if you bugger up. I don't enjoy that particular chain in general, but that bug makes it abhorrent.

In similar lines, can hirelings just in general get their enhancements looked at? I know in particular several rogues have Showtime, which AFAIK no longer exists.

And also in similar lines, healer hires often have their rez buttons bork. They just become unclickable, and you have to do some arcane mix of summoning and toggling through passive/defensive/active to get them working again. And meanwhile, your buddy's dead, you're in the midst of combat, and you could REALLY use some help, but you can't even focus on fighting because you're trying to get the rez to work again. And oh look, now you're dead too, and the only one left alive is the hir- *DING* ...Nevermind.

And also in similar lines, healer hires often have their rez buttons bork.

I've found that if you put them on aggressive and summon them to you then they will ~sometimes~ cast rez of their own volition. I have not figured out a way to reliably be able to force cast it on a particular target.

Some hires are worse then others at this. I'm looking at you Wyoh.

All righty, here's one to take a look at. Crafting Storage. In general if it goes in a collectable bag it will stack to 500 in the Crafting Storage bank. If it goes in an ingredient bag in general it will stack to 1000 in Crafting Storage. There are exceptions to this, for instance, Lily Petals will only stack to 99, Cannith Marks will only stack to 10. It would be nice if things would stack to the same numbers. Entirely possible to fix! I'll need to confirm if the stack sizes set were intentional. Do you have a list on-hand of the irregular ones?

If the list is "All Oddities" I've got some for you.

Epic Tapestry Shreds (200)

Antique Coin(1K, Presumably all the other Cannith challenge mat's too.)

Mark of House Cannith(10)
Mark of the Yugoloth (10)
Mark of the Silver Flame(10)
+10$ Crafting Success Percentage Boost (100, Favor reward from cannith, Also the RBG block in its description does not show when examined in crafting storage tab, or while in green bag. Does work when in inventory..)

Sweet Whitecap(500)
Ruddy Fungus(500)
Blessed Candle(500)
Skull Fragment(500)

White Ice Games Coin(100)

Copper Festivult coin(100)
Silver Festivult Coints(100)
Gold Festivult Coins(100)

Mindsunder Discs (1)
House Cannith Slayer Area Gizmo's (100, Below by name)
Magefire Cannon Core
Magefire Cannon Parts
Iron Juggernaut Parts
Iron Juggernaut Plating
Iron Defender Claws
Iron Defender Rivets
Quorforged Juggernaut Plating

Medium Ebberon Dragonshard Fragments(100)
TINY Khyber Dragonshard(100)

Not sure if this was mentioned yet in this thread (it's kinda long to go back and check ;)), but the new thread about Optional XP Ransack + your willingness to look into & communicate on things inspired me to bring it up.

Optionals in VoN3 (and others for other players/characters) are busted for Ransack. Some always pay full XP, most always pay less, but each one always pays the same amount - they never reset regardless of time & reincarnations in between. I don't know if this a quest specific, character specific or some-other specific issue; but it's a nuisance. I'm not sure how to explain it any better than I did in that thread (https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/487450-Optional-XP-Ransack-is-Busted), but I'll happily PM you my info so you can log into my character Juduss to check it out for yourself on an affected character (assuming you don't already experience this issue).

Even if this is outside your area of things to do, it would be nice to hear something more than "Read by QA!" followed by nothing from someone posting with a Yellow Name.

It's about Dimension Door. In pnp, (at least when I was playing), DD was a two way door. In DDO, it simply makes a one way door to the start point. It would be nice if casting DD, would make a portal, from the casting point, to the quest entrance, and, a portal from quest entrance, to casting point.

On one hand, that could be an amazing QoL thing for VoD/Hound raids, Restless Isles, some Sands quests and similar such.

On the other hand, why make botting/piking for chest pulls any easier?

I know it's not likely to happen, but if you're going to reduce the damage in ES blasts, could you please make Eldritxh Wave and especially Eldritch Ball more usable? These are the damage tree abilities and they're entirely outshined by the blast/burst stuff. Make ball more like a fireball so we actually know where it's going to hit, and make wave actually useful when moving.
I'm still going to play my warlock, but I've felt forced into ES just because using ball is ridiculously unsatisfying and half the time it doesn't hit where you want it to. I really love the TS/SE combo. Just make it a purple fireball, please.

Lynnabel, may not be your area to actually fix, but any chance you could comment / confirm / look into / ask around as to what's going on with wraps monks not being able to attack while stealthed ?

Your toon performs the animation, but nothing happens, stealth is not broken, no attack occurs, nothing. Doesn't matter whether it's a breakable object or an enemy monster.

Would just love to find out what's going on with this, even if it can't be fixed immediately (though obviously it'd be wonderful if it could be ......)

Not sure if this was mentioned yet or not (probably not though)...

Arcane Barrier (from Tier 4 of Eldritch Knight) and Thick-Skinned (from the 5th Core of Legendary Dreadnought) both cut incoming damage by 25%. However, they also cut the negative energy healing of Palemasters by 25%. Especially in the former case, this really cripples melee undead wizard builds when under pressure, since Arcane Barrier is a per-requisite for an important T5 ability.

If you would be able to fix this, I and other melee Palemasters out there would be immensely grateful. :D

It's easy as developers to get frustrated with players who don't understand or don't appreciate what goes on and lash out.

We can all appreciate the idiocy of "Well just fix the DB!"

they're still game developers so they should be looking at a rant

It's hard for me to comprehend how you got "lash out" and "rant" out of my post. Maybe you could point to specific words or phrases I used?

And as for "the idiocy of "Well just fix the DB!"" Well, I didn't say that, so I'd really appreciate you not using quotes as if I did.

I wonder how many of our rude posters go to any effort (let alone the efforts of the OW rude poster) to make amends for their Dev-targeted bull shenanigans?

This is also a thing that simply did not happen.

My post that has caused so much consternation was short, so I'll repeat it here for your convenience:

Well actually, it is possible. All it takes is the will and the skill. If SSG does not employ a DBA, then that is a roadblock for doing things right. But when the alternative is lag and band-aids and kludges on top of kludges, things aren't going to actually get better in the long run. In the short run, maybe. But not in the long run. Every band-aid and kludge added is just one more that would need to be removed to do things right, and then "it would take too much time to fix it right" becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy.

I have a lot of experience in a lot of different environments by virtue of having been a contractor for the majority of my professional career. I have seen videos with Steelstar in them and so I have a decent idea of his age. I guarantee that I have worked in and become intimately familiar with the workings of many more professional environments than he has, by at least an order of magnitude, simply by virtue of his age and mine. So I'm pretty sure I have a much greater breadth of understanding of how things work in general than he does. Of course anyone who is actually working in the environment beats me hands down on knowledge of it, and I am not challenging either Lynnabel of Steelstar over that, but I'd be surprised if he didn't have a rather tunnel vision perspective on it. I have seen that many times across the years. In any event, assuming that no one else could possibly have a suggestion for improvement which has any value is the height of hubris.

I cannot count the number of times I was on a contract making money for my employer because some company or another went the route of "It's too hard to do this right," or "It'll take to long to do this right," and so they decided to just throw down a quick kludge that kept things running. Again. And again. And again. The problem with this approach is that after a while of the same practice being employed it becomes almost impossible to "do this right" even with minor issues that could be "done right," because they also have to be laid down on top of all the prior kludges. And in some cases issues simply cannot be resolved due to the presence of those kludges. It just becomes impossible to do certain things because of "spaghetti code." I wonder how many times we've been told that something couldn't be done due to "tech limitations" it actually was due to kludge limitations that were introduced years before?

Oftentimes there is no way to move forward with a needed fix without a complete re-install and then applying those more difficult and more lengthy interim fixes anyway, just done right this time. And that's when the company will hire my company to come in and rescue them. At a much greater cost and with potential disruptions to both customer facing and employee facing systems. And in some cases there was just no practical way to salvage the mess they had made, and instead the solution is to bring in a new product entirely. Which they of course have to purchase. And then data migration can become one of the most challenging parts of the change. So you'll get no argument from me about data migration being a challenge. But that is with a data base with tens or hundreds of thousands of records. Not ~1,000 records. ~1,000 records could be migrated almost by hand from whatever "non-traditional database" they are in to an actual database which would have a huge performance advantage over the obviously lag-inducing method which is in place today.

The game uses data bases, right?

Steel put the guy back in his place. Hurray for the good guys! Who cares if some random idiot who thinks databases are easy is now hurt and upset that a developer called him out, right? Screw that guy. Right?

Oh, that's what you think happened?

Here's what I saw:

I post a suggestion about doing things right rather than fast, and provide three examples;
Lynnabel says it's not always possible because of "non-traditional data base";
I say then why not use a traditional data base, because that's what they are good at;
Kylstrem decides to white knight with a post that added nothing to the discussion;
Steelstar +1'ed him.

I don't feel put in my place, or hurt, or upset. But if that what you want to think happened then that's fine by me.
What I do feel is mostly resigned. I had hoped that SSG would be a new beginning and that a lot of the issues Turbine had would be left behind. I do not believe that to be the case, and I know I am not alone in this perception based on conversations I have had with the vast majority of the people I run with. The company name changed, but the attitudes and approaches of the people did not. And in the end it is people who make the environment, not names or slogans or promises of great things to come.

Some things that just came up:

When examining players the bio always auto-scrolls up which makes it very annoying to read longer bios. (caused by buffs)
Questreport also auto-scrolls to top when some numbers change (be it a monster killed, a breakable smashed...).
Arcane Pulse: when examining enemies it still shows the symbol of Niac's biting cold.
When finishing the quest "Gladewatch Outpost Defense" you are at stormreach harbour (while the questgiver/starter is located at market).
And a big thing, but maybe very hard to fix: As a caster when targeting a mob and casting, when the monster gets killed (by another player) while still performing the cast it wont proc, but the mana is lost and the spell is on cd. For example Divine Wrath: I'm targeting a mob, casting the spell - and while still casting another player kills the mob. Now nothing will happen but the spell is on cd + mana is gone. It would be better if a) the spell is not cast so no cd, no mana loss or even better b) the spell will go off where the mob was killed or was when i started cast, spell on cd, mana gone. But at least the spell worked. Its not only Divine Wrath, many spells are affected by this.

Thanks for reading.

Thanks for reading.

This one annoys the heck out of me when in a S/R/E zone.
It also auto-scrolls to the bottom when you open it, so if you want to check which optionals were done, you have to scroll up... but then someone kills someothing or breaks a barrel.

Just open it at the top and leave it there until I scroll it myself.

Probably won't happen because too easy to be exploited in some way the devs cannot think of. Makes creating quests that much more complicated in the devs have to then think about "Ok, what happens if we allow someone at the beginning to D-door to this point"

There's a reason D-door scrolls were taken out of the scroll Vendors in the early days. Devs got mad when people UMD'ed them to solve their "yellow" side in the Twilight Forge quest.

As per another thread,
https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/486653-Shield-rush

DC's to shield rush/charge & bash aren't giving the full effects.

After some FUN and interesting runs on both my Dragonborn and Human Pally S&B, there are serious (to me) animation issues that are not allowing these tactics to WAI.

From what Im noticing the Dragonborn is all messed up. Human isn't far behind. The shield rush/charge doesn't stop at point of impact which won't trigger effect.

Not all the time, and it's hard for me to track any accurate # because Im having too much fun playing again. (thanks)

If these small items were fixed to WAI *especially DB* I'd be happy as a clam (not that any of us really know how happy a clam is)

All kidding aside, the charge/rush/stun/bash needs some attention.

In the Dragonborn racial enhancement tree:

You should swap the positions of T1 Hard Scales -> T2 Harder Scales (in the second column of the T1 and T2 tiers) with Draconic Visage | Dragon Breath (in the third column of the T1 and T2 tiers). And then add the arrow from Dragon Breath to Draconic Heritage. This will better show the prerequisite, which all of the other trees manage to do very well.

This is broken for most traps - if they paste some texture 1 inch above the surface, your web trap is on the incorrect plane and affects nothing. The beginning of Tracker's Trap demonstrates this clearly, with 80% of the initial area un-trappable.

1. Candy Canes when broken completely cannot be repaired. They dont show up at all in the repair window. Weird.

They actually CAN be repaired! But it's 'spensive.

The skeleton dude at the end of Phase 3 of Shroud can repair *anything*. Including broken candy canes. But he charges twice as much since he's an expert repairman. (Which leads me to ponder whether the one in Sands from Free Agent Favor can also do them, but I've honestly never even talked to her out of curiosity.)

Here's something else...
If you have 1000 or more items in your crafting storage, you can't see the total capacity. Instead of seeing something like "1282 of 1295", you just see "1282 of". There's plenty of room to display a longer string.

A QUESTGIVER!!!! I shall return.

I have come back! The journey was difficult, as the patron had to be sternly spoken to several times before he "allowed" me to even speak to his friend. A ardous airship jog later, without my lunch, I arrived in the presence of this "great" maytagish repairwoman.

Alas, she did nothing. Acted as if my crumbled candy canes doth not even existing, she did! I would put a pox upon her house if I was not a Paladin.

(executive summary): The quest is complete! You owe me money/reward.

Ooh, somebody's doing homework. I can guess, but... How about

- Shards? The button in your inventory window.
- Whatserface in King's Forest.
- The Efreeti summon thingy anvil clicky thing whatsit.
- Rivetfingers on an Airship. Doesn't take damage, but it probably won't show up there either.

If none of those work, you can have my extra candy canes. :D

You know, I'm considering posting it over there. The guy has worked on DB's folks! He's a contractor who has worked on DB's! He knows all about the DB's! His DB's are so great, let me tell you folks, he has the best DB's. The best.

Snark all you like if it makes you feel better in some way. But we have the facts:

~1000 entries in a "non-traditional database";
Lag caused by this *ahem* huge *ahem* number of recipes;
Databases with ~1000 entries are tiny and have no performance issues;

So regardless of the snark, it is readily apparent they are doing it wrong.

They takes steps here and there to reduce lag. Changes to two weapon fighting, for example. That was a completely different implementation of how TWF worked. There are numerous other examples if you care to look for them. It might have been easier to change the TWF system than it would be to put ~1000 recipes into an actual database, but the results for the effort would be the same: A reduction in lag. Which you would think would be enough justification for putting in the effort. Or maybe snarky people just like to live with lag and are happy to bury their heads in the sand and white knight all day long to try to discredit suggestions for removing lag.

The assumption, then, is that it's set up in such a way that a normal database would work. It could be a one-off bespoke piece of code that won't interact with a standard database, and that the work to get it to work with a standard database would be so burdensome that it becomes impractical. The Stone of Change is a very old piece of the game, so it's likely buried very deep within the spaghetti.

Also making assumptions about database size is very risky too. It only invites incorrectness. I would venture to say that this games DB's are not very rational.

Friends page UI; fix the lvl being displayed. Its a pita to see a friend showing as lvl 132 when they are 8.

Dragonborn; Increase run & attack speed. Fix the "electric slide" animation when running and swinging. Reduce the AP for db breath AND give it a clearer path for enhancing. Increase the memory of Flight.

Paladin Holy Sword. please give shields the bonus as well. Why not? They're WAY behind the power curve.

Can we have fury of the wild ED working only with melee weapons? Because you know, if you pull a bow rope too much, you broke the rope, and if you pull the trigger of a crossbow too much, you broke the trigger.

As someone sayed somewhere in the foruns, imagine Hulk coming full of rage and adrenaline and, shooting a bow?

Fury belongs to melee fight, and ONLY if using STR or CON to dmg (and you developers know this is a bug, and have the description changed to keep exploiters happy).

Thank you.

Please crank him up a bit.

Ranged Alacricity from the Rogue Tier 5 Mechanical Reloader seems rather broken - it doesn't show up as buff on the display, equiping an item with ranged alacricity says you get a new buff and not you have multiple effects and from my testing the speed with great crossbow isn't increased by 30%.

Hi Lost_Leader, it is "intentional" that certain items cannot sold in the astral shard exchange with buyout:

This restriction applies to:
Ability and skill tomes
Raid Timer Bypass Hourglasses
Omnispell Dust / Omnispell Stones
Cannith Crafting essences
Hair dyes
Siberys Dragonshards (restriction applies to flawed/imperfect/siberys/exceptional/flawless)
Hearts of Wood

I am not sure if it has been explicitly explained from Turbine/Standing Stone Games when the astral shard exchange was introduced, but we believe that it was meant to prevent in-game astral shard exchange sales from competing with certain ddo store item sales.

A couple of bugs i found while playing today, running some heroics in R3.

· Collectable problem in "Caged Troll" in Phiarlan. The first one, just one person gets it but the rest cant take it.
· In "Grey Moon's Den" the normal scorpions change to a champions after underground. (and a couple more quest that can't remember in this moment)
· Ladder bug: "Prove your Worth", 3bc. In the Agility Trial part. It wasn't funny

Sure, but the devs could put this to rest by simply saying something like "There's no way we can put crafting recipes into a database, the game engine simply does not support that functionality. We're limited to a text file using the ':' character as a field separator." (I use that as an example because that's how I used to make a "non-traditional database" back when I was coding turn based space empire building and warfare games in C. But that was in the days of computing where I'd start a compile and go to bed and hope that it'd be done when I got up the next morning. You learn to double and triple check your code when a few bugs costs you 3 days time.)

But they have not chosen to do that. And lacking that, I'm not going to make any assumptions about a lack of functionality that may not exist. The game can use a database. I think? I'm pretty sure I've seen references to a database from the devs before.

Also making assumptions about database size is very risky too. It only invites incorrectness. I would venture to say that this games DB's are not very rational.

I'm not making any assumptions. Steelstar gave the number of recipes in the Stone of Change, and it was ~1,000. I could go look up his post for the exact number, but that's pointless because a database will not be any more challenged by ~2,000 records than it is by ~1,000 records, and the number he gave was ~1,000 recipes.

What would be that intention? To promote bidding wars, on which some people will just not bid in order to avoid? Or to promote lower sale prices, since there's no way to accept a BO price as the cost of impatience?

we believe that it was meant to prevent in-game astral shard exchange sales from competing with certain ddo store item sales.

I don't see how that makes any sense.

AS spent on an ASAH auction is AS spent. AS can't be spent in the store. And the person who bought the item on the ASAH might turn around and buy AS from the store to build back up their ASAH purchase power. Or someone who wants a store item might buy it for DDOP they earned free for playing the game and collecting favor. This "competition with the store" theory seems to have a lot of layers to it that don't add up to "ASAH items sold in the store are competing with our actual $ income." But maybe I'm missing something.

I guess I just don't see how there's really any difference between being told what you said the devs should tell us and just being told that it's not something that's kept in a traditional database. In the end, both answers amount to, "it's not something we can do right now." Is it just that some people want to be told specifically why it's not something they can do right now? And is that so that some people could turn around and say how it should be/should have been done "properly?"

As best I can figure, it's probably so that if you want it right now, you have to buy it through the DDO Store. Since astral shards can be earned or won by a player instead of bought, it's probably assumed that this would more securely guarantee an income. This is just speculation, though. I don't know a firm answer. But I do think Graskitch's post put it succinctly:

Hey Lynnabel, good work!!

With the outlet to help out with typos I just noticed one that isn't super big but is at the very start when you make a character. When you make your new character and talk to Jeets about skipping the content, the following line comes up in the window:

It will also allow you to group with players who have completed the Korthos Island.

The options following say 'the Korthos Island content'. Just 'the Korthos Island' doesn't sound right, either 'Korthos Island' without the 'the' or 'the Korthos Island content' sounds better.

It's one of the first windows in the game for a new player so pretty important.

3) In the Adventure Compendium for the "Ruins of Gianthold" it shows 64 locations. Heroic has 20 and Epic has 29 so it should show 49. For example if all completed for Heroic and Epic then it should read 49 / 49 and not 49 / 64.

Thanks again.

There are a few display bugs associated with entering a quest on reaper. This should be fairly easy to duplicate. If you last ran a quest on R3, and then the party lead sets the next quest to R1, the others in the group will still see R3 as the level when they go to enter. You have to open up the XP report to see the actual skull level.

I would first like to quote few posts from this thread that have not been answered:

Can you make it so when you cast a cause X damage spell or harm spell without a target it targets the caster if they are in undead form?

This would be a huge help to pale masters if it could be made that way. Having to target yourself to heal is very bothersome.

Just another Pale Master that would be grateful... :D

Here's another one : In Grim and Barett, the two trap boxes in Grim's little corridor don't actually toggle to a "disarmed" control box graphic - they remain in the "newly discovered" graphic even after they've been disarmed.

The same issue can be found in Recovering the Lost Tome quest, the control box for that first trap, on a pillar in the bookshelf room where the librarian takes you.

I think that this may be a model issue. Control boxes that have this bug look different than normal control boxes (I think that they have rounded edges). Maybe this model does not correctly switch to "opened box" stance.

Someone already mentioned Caged Trolls quest pointer problem.

Now for my bugs:

- Sometimes when you cast Necrotic Blast on ground it does not damage enemies. The graphic and the sound shows, it wastes HP, but for some reason the enemies are not touched by it, like it ends up below ground and is blocked by it.

- In Tower of Frost when you disable all security wards, DM first says "You disabled all security wards..." and after that "you disabled one of the wards protecting the Eye of Risia". It always makes me facepalm because it should be the other way round.

- Ice Flensers in Stealer of Souls and In the Demon's Den (possibly also elsewhere) drop Treasure Bags that can't be looted. They stay on the ground and can't be removed.

- Eschew Materials metamegic feat is turned off on log off and needs to be turned on every time. It should always be on just like Pale Master shrouds. If you can have permanent version in Harper Agent tree then it seems less likely to be technically impossible to do. Stalwart defense also turns off and needs to be reactivated.

- Hirelings and pets should be able to attack breakable doors. When you select breakable door, pet/hireling's "use" command in the command bar should switch to attack so they can be ordered to break down doors for low strength characters. If this can't be done they should be given a clickable attack like cleave since hirelings with cleave can break doors using that.

- Mummy Wrappings padded armor has 50% Spell Failure while it should have 5% (just like other padded armor in game and just like Epic version of the same item).

- The Subterrane wilderness is level 16 even though the raids are lavel 18. Both The Subterrane - Central and The Subterrane - East should be level 18 and give full XP up to level 23.

- Description for Finger of Death on wiki page is confusing:
http://ddowiki.com/page/Finger_of_Death
It says that the damage is untyped, and later that it is negative. Not sure if this is also in game, but if it is it should be fixed.

- I would also suggest to take a look at this thread, as some players posted their bugs here:

I will repost my bugs from that thread:

1) In Restless Isles wilderness, DM's text does not have a voiceover. I don't know if that is because it has not been recorded or it doesn't play because of a bug.

2) And the key you buy from ogre mage in ogres camp still has "Drops on leaving adventure" and "Drops on death" flags so you can't take it to quest "Bring Me the Head of Ghola-Fan!" and unlock the left end door to get Ogre Khan's Skull.
This is not a new and unknown issue:
https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/411357

On the other hand, we have lots of obsolete quest items that stay in inventory after leaving quests even though they are completely useless:

http://ddowiki.com/page/Obsolete_quest_items

You should flag these items with "Drops on leaving adventure", and remove the same flag from that Restless Isles key.

3) In "Slavers of the Shrieking Mines" quest, when you kill ogre slavers, wildman slaves disappear very fast, in a few seconds.

Yet in similar quest, "Let Sleeping Dust Lie", when you kill ogre slavers, crimson foot spiders disappear after much longer time so you have to wait for quite a while for them to disappear so that you can destroy breakables (explosive barrels) safely.

It may have been intended as a bigger challenge, but it just makes players wait too long.

4) (this is just an idea) It can be very annoying to hunt down Kaedak rare encounter in Restless Isles. Maybe you could make it so that you can attack and kill that wildman who opens a passage after he takes Horrid Golden Figurine, and that he drops it on death so you can take it again and not have to finish a quest to try hunting Kaedak rare encounter again. Or just make him a 100% spawn.

I would first like to quote few posts from this thread that have not been answered:

If I do not reply to something, it's because I either the game itself can't do something or I do not have time to do something. Telling me again and again doesn't help, sorry. I read every post on this forum, don't worry :)

snipped, stuff about trap boxes opening

Actually, it's just because those boxes are just placed in backwards. I've fixed this for Lost Tome and Creeping Death, I'll take a look at a few others if I have time.

Stalwart defense also turns off and needs to be reactivated.

Impossible to stick the way it is currently built, sadly. :(

Neato, nice catch. Fixed for U36.

You don't need to finish the quest. The Horrid Golden Figurine is a very quick farm. You can pretty much run through the quest straight to it.

Right now high skull reaper is all about everyone getting the most from positive energy unless you have a VERY static group. But the low skull range could use some love for non purely-positive healing builds.

How tough is hireling creation to go along with reaper healing decreases? Could you add some more warforged casters (/repairers) at 20, 25? Maybe some undead casters?

Can we have epic hirelings with quicken enabled? Hmm... I probably already asked for this earlier in this thread... or somewhere.

Just one issue with it:

Yet in similar quest, "Let Sleeping Dust Lie", when you kill ogre slavers, crimson foot spiders disappear after much longer time so you have to wait for quite a while for them to disappear so that you can destroy breakables (explosive barrels) safely.

When you kill all of the 'local' ogres, the spiders become NPCs and cannot be harmed. Feel free to blast away with your AOEs if that's how you like to break boxes.

If you kite other ogres into the vicinity of NPC spiders they will fall under their orders and again become hostile until you kill all of those ogres. Whereupon they will again revert to NPC status.

You can harm them by destroying explosive barrels. That's the whole point of my complaint. You have to wait for them to disappear so you can destroy explosive barrels safely. So having them disappear faster would reduce waiting time.

I once had enemy ogre mage cast some AOE spell and he destroyed explosive barrels near spiders which killed them. And it counted and removed one chest in the end. Maybe this could be fixed by making only player made kills count?

There are some rares that have special conditions to appear, like Saate, Wight Priest in Sorrowdusk, or Varney, Ancient Vampire in Eerie Forest. Maybe this one could be treated the same way as having the figurine is also some kind of "special condition" that enables you to reach that area.

I have found another mispelling bug when going through Sands of Menechtarun wiki page (http://ddowiki.com/page/Sands_of_Menechtarun):

Speaking of the Phylactery of Raiyum, now that this raid only needs to be flagged once per life, can we get rid of the silly "exclusive" feature on this (and the other 3). I understand why it was done in the past when you wanted to make sure people would run these flagging quests over and over when this was the "end game" content but it is just silly now.

Also the exclusive setting for the gems needed to get into the Eerie Forest in Reaver's Reach. People are not "making a mint" on selling these.

Not to worry, I'm not deleting these items! There are certain quest items that are meant to be removed when leaving the game, and somehow a few of them never got that flag on them properly. The Guild Airship map is extremely small, which causes the alternate map mode (where you can alter the size of the map) to shrink down to little more than the standard map size any time you enter the ship with the Alternate map active.

Any chance the Guild Airship Map size could be increased to stop this?

It's a minor annoyance but it catches me out regularly...

I don't know if someone mentioned it, but the Blitz icons with stacks on it doesn't properly track stack duration. When using it, it will frequently stay on a stack even though the timer on the icon has reached 0 secs. Also when you have 1 stack left, it claims to have 0 stacks left.

The 3 young women in "The Riddle" have been expressing their sincerest string-table errors before transforming into forest hags and attacking you.

As additional info; the string-table errors occur when you actually walk up to the ladies and talk to them, not just if you stand around and passively watch them.

Couple of extra things:

Tomb of the Shadow Knight: Noticed the last couple of times I did this: you need to purify all 4 altars before killing the boss, but you get the DM text after purifying 3 of them telling you now is the time to strike, then nothing after 4 when the mummy does wake up.

Arcane Archer (elf if it matters): Tier 5 ability Final Strike has a different icon in the hover information to the displayed tree, and it uses this icon with octagonal passive borders when you take it to a hotbar, despite being an active ability.

Black and Blue: the quest-giver has a typo of "Kyhber" somewhere in the text.

A couple of things I have not seen mentioned here so far.

- Cosmetic weapons does often not show up, very often when a character not in your line of sights swaps weapons. When you see that character one of the weapons will not be visible. Also a big problem on my artificer, where I do not see my heavy repeater myself most of the time.

- The traps in Grim and Barret are also turned around, and does not show as open after disabling.

The amusing thing about this is that it was a deliberate design decision:

Update 28 release notes: (http://ddowiki.com/page/Update_28_Release_Notes)

Mirrors of Glamering should no longer be able to be used on any quest-specific items that are destroyed upon quest exit.

So they released an item with the sole purpose of allowing players to purchase them for use in customizing the appearance of their weapons, armor, helm, and goggles, and then deliberately removed some very good looking items from being able to be used with them.

I have a feeling part of the reason might have been to prevent people from glamering the glowing scepter in Rainbow in the Dark, since that would effectively remove the need to have the scepter equipped, and everyone would be able to have one. Also, and probably a lesser reason, people would be able to have a light source in every other quest.

I apologize if this one has been addressed already, I did read every post but did tend to barely skim the long-winded ones.

The Demonweb quests can be taken and done in any order, but if you follow the story flow, an error appears.

If you do Trial By Fury first, then turn it in, Xarathas says: "While you were away we received information about a second arcane Orb...Speak with Ymris. He has a proposition for you."

The first player response is: "I'll go talk to Ymris about retrieving a third Orb."

Obviously this should say second Orb, at least for the sake of consistency.

I may be the only one who uses Eschew Materials, but it needs to be updated. It is supposed to eliminate the requirement for spell components on all spells that use normal materials, but there are several 'newer' spells that it does not work on (not including the 'special' spells, like "Stoneskin"). One specific example is the arti spell "Lucky Cape".

Personally, I'd love to have it work on *all* spells that require spell materials of any kind, including "Stoneskin" (it is a FEAT after all...) , but as long as it gets updated - and stays updated when new spells are added - for the non-special spells requiring materials, that would be awesome.

Obviously, it most likely would not be in the next update, but maybe the update following? Pretty please? With sugar? And strawberries?

This may be WAI, but it sure is annoying:

If you run a Cannith challenge 5 levels above your level, the supply chests you receive from the bosses are 1 level above yours. You cannot open them (at least, not for a while), and they cannot be placed into bank. So I am stuck with an unusable spot in my inventory until I level.

I can understand supply chests being un-bankable (that would probably lead to various undesirable side effects), but why give them minimum level at all?

Encountered a voice over and DM narration text issue in Sykros's Jewel (on Ataraxia's Haven) toward's the end of the quest when first encountering the duergar in the hallway after the shrine, the voice over and the on-screen DM narration text says that Deluge prepares to strike. Deluge is an orange-named spider that the players have not encountered yet because they need to fight past the duergar and use a switch to open a door and then drop down a pit... to meet the spider. That's a pretty long time between hearing and seeing that bit of narration and actually encountering the spider.

This probably wouldn't apply in your case, since I assume there was a big chunk of time between when the item was tossed and when you realized it, but for those that might not know, if you accidentally delete an item, you can purchase many of those items back in the "buy back" tab at most vendors. I know there is a time limit, and I think there is a limit on the number of items that can exist in your "buy back" list, though.

Why would you make it a raid zone?

First of all, you have two normal quests in that area so it makes no sense to have to go through raid zone to reach them.

Second, just why? What would be the benefit for that? You would only disable the use of hirelings on that area.

It would be nice to get one NPC that can take you to raid, just like we have ogre and wildman NPCs that take you to their camps. And he would work only after you finish the raid at least once (just like other two NPCs).

I wouldn't. I was asking for a teleporter.

First of all, you have two normal quests in that area so it makes no sense to have to go through raid zone to reach them.
Making it possible for a raid party to enter the area wouldn't prevent normal parties from entering the area, e.g. House Cannith wilderness areas; people have asked for that to be done to Restless Isles in the past, but there are technical reasons (if memory serves) why it can't be done with that area. As SSG are currently in a phase where they are attempting to sort out this kind of thing, though, I thought it would be best to make it clear that I was starting with the assumption that it still wasn't possible.

Second, just why? What would be the benefit for that? You would only disable the use of hirelings on that area.
The benefit would be that raid groups could get to the raid without having to Greater Teleport from (usually) Tempest Spine, which I don't think was ever the intended way to get there (although it is a useful workaround).

Would it be possible to be able to "Name" crafted items? I don't know how many I tossed, and after TR, did a ~facepalm~
Locking items will prevent you from selling or dropping them without a confirmation.
I lock everything. Armor, weapons, jewelry, potions, scrolls, everything. That way when I go to sell after a run the only things I see in the vendor list are items I picked up on that run.

if you accidentally delete an item, you can purchase many of those items back in the "buy back" tab at most vendors. I know there is a time limit, and I think there is a limit on the number of items that can exist in your "buy back" list, though.
I think that list is cleared when you TR. But it's a good tip anyway. Also if you are carrying an exclusive item and you get another while adventuring you can drop the one you're carrying, pick up the new one, and then buyback the one you dropped after parking the new one in the bank.

2) Since the item update, when we deconstruct items, we dont get gold/plats anymore. When will this get fixed?

You do get plat, but it's no longer with every deconstruct. It's more like a ~25% chance. I've heard people say that if your deconstruct mats are in the crafting storage that you never get any plat, but I haven't tested this.

Typo, with bolds to emphasize:

After you complete her quest Valairea Satnairne in Meridia has only one dialogue box which says in part "I have instructed Byronson to sell you however many power cells you may need."

As of the last time I TR'd, it didn't... I checked purely for scientific research purposes. Of course. Scientific... Research...

Also if you are carrying an exclusive item and you get another while adventuring you can drop the one you're carrying, pick up the new one, and then buyback the one you dropped after parking the new one in the bank.

I've also done this when I pulled two sets of Cannith Boots of Propulsion while already wearing one. It works well.

Offensive type Melee power is definitely not applying to summoned creatures.

EI: Call Kindred Being Tier Four ED ability, SM 9, etc...

One can summon at level 20 then at level 30, getting the same damage numbers each time.
(Although the Melee Power buff does show, its not getting applied.):

Passive[edit]
Epic Summons Each epic level grants your summons, pets and hirelings: +5 Melee and Ranged Power, +10 Universal Spell Power, +5 PRR and +5 MRR. This does not appear on the character sheet, but does show on the summoned creature's inspection panel as Epic Summons.

I have not tested this enough on Druid/Arty pets, but can verify that a few months ago it did not work on most summons.
Bug reported thus.
Ozzes summoned from weapons might be working better than the rest.

I get your point, thanks for explaining. Raid groups are 12 players max, and regular are 6 players max.

I was complaining because you can't take hirelings to raid zones, but now I see that House Cannith Manufactury is normal wilderness that allows both raid groups and hirelings.

So making Restless Isles like that would fix all issues and not cause other ones.

Still, NPC "teleport" would be nice even if the raid zone change could be made, from Foothold to raid entrance (which is, conveniently located in public area separated from wilderness, ideal to enable that kind of NPC "teleport".

Another "suggestion, not a fix". Assuming that it isn't possible to change Restless Isles to a raid wilderness zone, could we at least have a teleporter (preferably one of the existing NPCs rather than a new one) on the initial island by the airship, please? Even if it's one that only works after you've found your way to the raid entrance already, like the teleporter in 3BC.

For that matter, could the warforged at the entrance to Twilight Forge also have an option to teleport you back to the start of the Restless Isles, so that groups which complete the raid don't have to break party in order to enter the wilderness area and then recall...? Please?

I know there is a time limit, and I think there is a limit on the number of items that can exist in your "buy back" list, though.

Actually, 'scarp' is a term used in geology. It is different from but similar to 'escarpment.' 'Scrap' doesn't have a meaning that has anything to do with rocks or geology, so I'd guess that the name was deliberately chosen and is not a typo.

SLAs and abilities in Epic Destinies never seem to show their DC. Their text might include a DC formula (typically ED abilities do this), but showing the DC would be far more user friendly.

I can have the SLA Fireball right next to the spell Fireball in my hotbar, and still not know that the DC is for the SLA. It's like this "Well, let's see... It's going to be the same as the Fireball spell, except I have enlarge set to 'always on' for it. Now what level spell is it again? And what's my top spell level?" It would be far more user friendly to show the DC in the tool tip text just like the spell does.

Old School philosophy on Wolf Companions was that they were considered fighters EI: can wear/should have prof. heavy armor.

I equipped Black Dragonplate heavy armor from Gianthold,
along with Shadow Dragonplate heavy armor from thunderhelm
unto my wolf just now.

Which is what I have doing for years (of course heavy armor negates evasion), which is why the new U35 armor
refusing to be equipped surprised me.

Equipping Shadow Dragonplate armor to wolf makes PPR go from 50 to 116,

What it is, is... items with a "+" in the upper right corner gives you plat... *if* your dissolver is in inventory or bag, NOT in the crafting bank. Weapons & armor have these, *most* clothing & jewelry do not. However, all items will get +1 for Masterwork, Colorless Slot, and (weirdly), FF; +2 for a Yellow Slot (and presumably red and blue, but those are only weapons & armor so it's much harder to tell); and +3 for a Green Slot... and this includes clothing & jewelry, so sometimes you'll get plat for them. (It's cumulative, too - a masterwork ring with a green slot will give you +4). Also, the amount of plat you get is (at least loosely) dependent upon the + number... the higher the number, the more the plat.

Evennote just had a blog post that talked about this. (https://ddoeven.wordpress.com/2017/06/28/tower-of-frosty-crafting/)

Not necessarily a bug, but I can open a door or a chest, pull a lever, or interact with any NPC while facing away from them or spinning in a circle. But change your heading 10 degrees while disarming a trap and suddenly it's something like "You are not facing the trap." A huge QOL improvement for trappers would be to remove this nonsense restriction.

This is so true ... you can do a 360 while opening a door, valve, or chest and it will open ... but you move slightly off or turn around from a trap box and you have to redo your attempt.

Five possibly easy quality of life fixes for Caster Druids:

1) Reduce Opacity by 50% of the highly valuable level seven spell "Body of Sun"
{Its really hard to see thru, unless one moves the mouse look all the way forward.
Just try out two druids in the same quest using this spell along with fire elementals and firewalls...
Pure melee toons can hardly see anything either.}
(Alternate temporary solution, someone suggest a graphics setting for neutralize the blinding glare.)

2) Reduced casting time of Reincarnation by 50%
{Currently its 10 seconds (without quicken) which is enough time to die while casting thus even quickened.}
(When Druids prefer to scroll Resurrection, then a spell is pretty much invalid._

3) Add animation to the enhancement sla "Spring's Resurgence"
{This is actually kind of a nerf, since it currently has no range limit.}

4) Consider adding +0.5 Caster Levels to the auto granted Epic Power feat.
{This opens up alternate Epic Destiny Spheres for use with Master of the Wild type feats at level cap.}
(This avoids making home spheres obsolete, while granting the missing 5 caster levels that Epic Destinies don't grant.)
[Shirdai nerfs due to various non druid builds continue to make Shirdai less and less of a caster ED for Druids.]
(I consider this a much easier fix than adding a new ED or making Primal a decent ED for anything other than broken Tree builds.)

5) Add +2 Wisdom to Druid Capstone, removing/ignoring spell bonuses when season's change that are bugged, get feedback on changing Season's to a toggle.

Later on, add a 3rd Druid tree,

After that considering making Primal more caster friendly while you are fixing tree form, fix animal forms, update wolf enhancements, ect...

(Standard): You are now breaking your Druidic Oath! See the description on the Druidic Oath feat for details by wearing this Dark Blue Ioun Stone

The Dark Blue Ioun Stone is a trinket, not armor or a shield. It is also made of Gem, not metal, although this should be irrelevant to the Druidic Oath. The character in question was a fleshy race, not a warforged/bladeforged.

I have worn Voice of the Master as a Druid, and it is made of Adamantium. So I am at a loss in determining exactly how the Dark Blue Ioun Stone is violating the Druidic Oath.

Seems to me its a bug considering the 'magical' essences are the same after deconstructing..
or are we expected to end reward list loot armor/shields/robes/weapons instead of clothing/jewellery if we intend to decon them for plat/essences..

can we get some clarity here ?

Fix improved shield mastery so that it stacks with shield mstery instead of overwriting it.

Wait, what?

http://ddowiki.com/page/Shield_Mastery

http://ddowiki.com/page/Improved_Shield_Mastery

How is it broken?

Would you prefer it to say...

Improved Shield Mastery
You gain an additional 5% doublestrike, an additional 3 Melee power, and your PRR is increased by 2, 5, 5 for buckler/small shield, large shield, tower shield.

Oh wait, it does.

When you slot the ML14 Globe of Imperial Blood augment into an item, the item becomes ML16.

When you slot the ML26 Deconstructor augment into an item, the item becomes ML28.

There are some rings (random loot) that look like they are made from silver, but their material is set to gold (there may even be reverse cases).

One notable is silver ring with blue gem.

Perhaps you should check all rings and see if the material matches the image.

Indeed, very nice!

One small thing: Last I checked the airship amenity Shrine to the Devourer was mistakenly giving bonuses to Fire/Light (already covered by Sign of the Silver Flame) instead of Acid/Cold as it is supposed to.

From combat log when applying ship buffs:
(Effects): You have multiple effects granting a Guild bonus to Light Spell Power that do not stack. ( Sign of the Silver Flame and Shrine to the Devourer )

The Collectable Exchange NPCs in Eveningstar don't let you exchange collectables; they've got the challenge items instead.

Maybe they are made with white gold? This is now being marked as a "feature." ;)

You didn't happen to lock them, maybe?

Options -> UI Settings -> Lock shortcut icons to the shortcut bar

It's the second one down in the list.

Not locked, when the hotbar is you cannot drag the icon at all. (mistake in my post... it's left-click then drag, not right-click)
Used to be able to left-click drag and hold off of hotbar, press + or - to get to another hotbar then drop onto another hotbar.

Cntrl-= (control button and equal/plus button) will lock/unlock hotbars I think ?

Nice observation.

But white gold is not pure gold, it is an alloy of gold and at least one white metal.

So it is to gold what steel is to iron.

So new feature: "white gold" material. :)

Or simply just change the material to silver.

It was worth a try.

And as an off-topic nitpick (meant in good humor, though; this note added after re-reading), most gold used for jewelry purposes is also an alloy. Pure gold is typically too soft to be used on its own for most jewelry (but if it is, it's 24 Karat!), thus it has to be combined with other metals to give it strength. The purity of the gold content will be described by the Karat value (a karat being 1/24 of the whole). A lot of white gold is around 14K, so about 14/24 gold, which is about 58.3%. So it can still be called "gold."

that one gate in dalera 2 that wont open when stuff is killed and have to wait.

Sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't.

When it has worked for me (and I don't have enough instances to prove it), at least 2 archer skeletons spawned that room and I killed them first before killing the other skeletons. HOwever most of the time, I only get one archer skeleton to spawn in that room.

Most of the time, I have to wait for the timer. At this point in the game's life, they just need to remove the door closing/locking shut, instead of trying to fix the issue of making it open after you kill all the mobs in the room. It really serves no purpose as the "ambush" is not really life-threatening anymore.

This seems to fit my experiences too. Kill the Skelton Arcus' first, then the ghostlies.

There are two sarcophagi in Heyton's rest which appear to be broken, but can still be targeted. If you approach them closely they will change to looking like an unbroken sarcophagus, but there's still no way to break them. Given that this is in Korothos and will be seen early on by any new players it should get priority attention to being fixed to avoid giving a bad first impression.

On good news for Korthos I recently re-ran it and used a Hireling to open all doors, pull all levers, etc. just to test the pathing and new player experience. And only in maybe 3 places throughout all of the quests on the starter island did I get the "X is blocked" message that you get so very often when trying to get a Hireling to open something or interact with something. Pathing on Korthos seems to be almost issue free compared with a large portion of the remainder of the game.

Not sure if same thing, but those differently shaped sarcophagi in Lords of Dust that won't break with Warlock blast/chain/cone/burst are annoying as hell to warlocks doing that quest.

The what works.. where.. for breaking stuff is really kind of all over the place..

sometimes I can break stuff with a ranged weapon, sometimes I cant..

Some stuff can be blown up with spells some can't..

The warlock eldritch attack doesn't break things I would think it should.. like vines..
Eldritch attacks don't work on levers

kind of silly that we have to drop stance to break it with a dagger, scroll or whatever else is melee equipped can bash it down, or even flip to the fireball wand/sonic blast scroll
..but a kinetic blast .. does nothing...

I agree with the annoying part and that if it can be broken by ranged then so should it be able by melee and spells like fireball.
That not all spells have the "Breakable" text/flag is a feature, not sure which spells should or should not have that text/flag tho.

Crafted melee/ranged alacrity items and random-gen speed items have no effect on Shadar-kai toons.

When you put these items on a Shadar-kai toon, the character sheet will show the correct attack speed but it actually does not affect the real attack speed.

Test method:
1. Roll a SDK mechanic rogue
2. equip a great crossbow and some bolts
3. put on/off these +attack speed items and shoot to test this bug

Please look at this issue and fix it, thanks in advance!

Call Lighting Storm seems to be centered on self, like body of sun is centered on self. I did cast thus and ran far away, then waited to see if it would strike a nearby foe, which it did. I took extend spell feat and found that it cannot be applied to Call Lightning Storm. Since the spell is essentially a buff (and not considered a powerful spell because it does not scale), extend should apply to this druid spell.

If I'm a rogue in a fantasy setting I can pick a lock while hanging upside down and blindfolded and humming the battle hymn of the republic!

heh, good point. However, I can see an argument that wants you focused on the complex trap mechanics whereas pulling a lever can be done behind one's back. That said, I am ok with allowing a view shift. It is more for the User than the monkey in the game.
