Would it be difficult for the planner to tell me the level range that will have the same bonus? For instance if I make a belt with constitution and insightful constitution it will have the exact same values at ML 18/19/20 it would be handy to know this so I can make it as low an ML as possible. It's not a huge deal, just a convenience thing, I can figure it out it just take a bit of fiddling with the ML selection.

Maybe something along the lines of:

Effect: Ability: Constitution 9. (ML 18/19/20)

Effect: Ability: Constitution 9. (ML 18/19/20)Actually, yeah, this might be more complex to implement but could be super cool. I would just display the range. For example, if I fire up the planner, pick belt, and choose ML5, the prefix effect defaults to:

Effect: Ability: Constitution 4.

I would instead have it say:

Effect: Ability: Constitution 4. (ML4 to ML5)

This tells me that any lower than ML4 and it'll be less than +4 bonus, any higher than ML5 and it'll be more than +4 bonus. If you wanted to get extra fancy, you could specify unique values separately. Let's say healing amp, which grows every level:

Effect: Defense: Healing Amplification 14. (ML5)

But even if it's just a duplicate range, that would be fine too:

Effect: Defense: Healing Amplification 14. (ML5 to ML5)

Concept: Swappable goggles for Spell casters

ML17 gets you
+4 spell focus (school)
+2 insightful spell focus (school)
+2 insightful spell penetration

Make a set for each spell school you're serious about and these will carry you up to level 23, where
+5 focus +3 insightful focus, +3 insightful spell penetration becomes doable.

To save on mats you can skip insightful penetration on goggles like evocation, where SR is rarely a factor.
Make them on a platform with a green or yellow slot and you can add a topaz of the appropriate school also.

I have another feature request for non-scaling effects.

I don't really understand how non-scaling effects work. Do they have an Absolute Minimum Level associated with them, and you can't apply them unless the ML of the item is >= the AML of the non-scaling effect?

IIRC, the in-game tooltips say "adds to minimum level", which doesn't make sense. What happens if you put non-scaling effects on both the prefix and suffix? They don't add together, right?

Anyway, in regards to the planner, somehow convey this information. Right now the planner lets me plan an ML1 trinket with True Sight, which obviously won't work in-game. My initial thought is not to filter the combo boxes -- that could be confusing -- but rather add an AML note to the description for non-scaling shards. (Maybe have this extra AML note in the description turn red if the chosen ML isn't high enough?)

In last Lamania build non-scaling effect seems broken. Look at this posts: 5860569, 5860664, 5860761.
I think, levels don't stack. It's just minimal level. Planner know about minimal level, but now its not use this info (I fix this when non-scalable shard will affect on minimal level). In the last Lamania release you really can make ML1 trinket with true sight.

I'm playing with it now using the 30 effects I want and the 10 gear slots where I want to put them (https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/478031-Cannith-Crafted-melee-gearset?p=5863721&viewfull=1#post5863721). In terms of "what slots can only take a single effect", this feature is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Well done!

The other side of that coin is "what effects can only go in one slot?" (Like, for example, Insightful Deadly, which only goes on Trinket Extra.) This question isn't easily answered by the gear master, and it's the question that drives about half of my gear planning. Here's an image of the spreadsheet I use, click to enlarge:

The spreadsheet answers the question "What slot can only take a single effect?" by looking at vertical columns, and answers the question "What effect can only go in a single slot?" by looking at horizontal rows. I'm not sure if there's an elegant way to incorporate the latter into the gear master, but figured I'd toss it out there.

Regardless, well done and kudos. That's a way cool feature.

PS: I think your planner is missing the 2 purifieds for unbound prefixes and suffixes. Pretty sure they all cost 2 purifieds, and the planner lists none of them.

I think this is entirely likely, which is why i was asking what it was supposed to show. I'll try to grab a screenie later, its probably me.

EDIT: oh ok, I sort of see now. I was using it for a non-intended purpose.

Ok - it would be good additional functionality if on this page:

When I choose just one or a couple of items, I could click 'filter available effects' before I started selected what effects I might want to slot in. If I choose to make a main and off hand weapon for example, it would be helpful if I simply couldn't select (or if the effects were colour coded in the effect lists) the ones which couldnt' go on that item.

It could be a yet another page for you to build of course: half way between 'I want to make one item' (which the main page is brilliant for) and 'I want to plan all these effects' (which the gear master is brilliant for).

Probably just me being niche again though.

Another good addition to the gear master page might be a totalling up of all the ingredients you'll need. Just to give the user an idea of what craziness you're actually trying to pull together before they go and start using the main page to work out each item separately :)

The values for Effect: Save: Parrying (Insightful saves and Insightful AC) are different than what's on the spreadsheet. I do not know which is correct, only that they disagree.

For instance in the Planner, for a level 15 item, it states:
Effect: Save: Parrying 4 (Insightful saves and Insightful AC). Power range: 15-20.. Power range: 15-20.


However, on the spreadsheet, level 15 parrying has a value of 3.



I haven't looked too closely at other effects to know if this is the only one that disagrees with the spreadsheet.

* Add more miss value. And recheck current value.
* Not change to ingredient: Problem is ingredient changes for non-scaling effect (look at wiki for more detail). I think this will be fix in Live or Lamania v4.
* Update of gear master.
* Correct enchant for collars and rune arms.
* Block extra for item with min level <=9.

Now that I know how it works, its kinda obvious to me too. I'm not good at writing manuals, but here comes something that might explain how it works:


Gear master is a tool to show you how you can fit all desired craftabke effects on inventory slots.
Select items you wish to enchant and desired properties, then click generate table.


Now, for each inventory slot, select which enhancement you want, and Gear Master will automatically block their appearance on other slots, so you can plan your gear most effectively. When you are all done, click get result below.


(it probalby needs a spell checking and maybe enhancing from someone better at writing than me)

Nevermind. I restarted my browser and recreated the belt again, this time it uses the same values that you saw. I guess I was using an older, bugged version of the planner?

Well...
Now that I know how it works, its kinda obvious to me too. I'm not good at writing manuals, but here comes something that might explain how it works:


Gear master is a tool to show you how you can fit all desired craftabke effects on inventory slots.

If I may:


Gear master is a tool to help you 'reverse engineer' which slots on which items would be best for a particular effect.

The tool works best if you simply use the "check all" box at the top of the item list on the left hand side and then select the effect or effects you want from the large grid of effects in the middle of the page.

Note: choosing just a single item or a small number of items works less well - not all effects can go onto all items and when you use the planner it has no way to know that you have selected an impossible combination of item and effect until you have generated the table (see next point).

Once you have selected all the effects you want, click Generate Table - which you will find at the bottom of the item list on the left hand side.

You will be shown all the slots where those effects could possibly go from the items you have selected.

If you see a "none" entry against a particular item & slot, that means none of the effects you have chosen can go on that item/slot

'Lock in' an effect against an item and its slot by clicking the effect name in that slot once.

Once you have "locked in" all your effects to particular pieces of gear, click Get Result to see an easier-to-read summary.

The "wiki work (http://ddowiki.com/page/Talk:Cannith_Crafting/U32)" link in the first post has that information. (Spot is a suffix in goggles, helmets, necklaces, and trinkets.)

After live release, i need some time to update wiki page. After I update planner and gear master.


The planner appears to be down.
I will link the archive with planner after upload live info. There only pure js and html. So, it will work well in you local machine.


Runearms have different effects in main planner and gear master.
Which one is it?
In the bottom of the page you can see Lamania version=)

Two quality of life requests for the gear planner:

1) Button to reset all selections to blank.
2) Button to leave the gear master, returning to the planner.

Otherwise, everything is awesome. You might enjoy this post (https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/423615-Challenge-Farmer?p=5868280&viewfull=1#post5868280), where I had a complex gearing question that the gear master is perfectly designed to answer. Loved it!

On the bottom I can see link to sheet on lamma with power per level, but there's no effect per item slot.

Unfortunately, we don't now value for: ins wizardry, vitality, vampirism (maybe non-scaling). Also some value need to recheck.

going by assumption, no cost free hosting site might have 3rd party adds displayed which in turn may have unhealthy code. not gonna turn off my addblock to test hypothesis, but just a thought.

either way, having hosting for this that goes down once free bandwith is exceeded is sad.

theres other people on here who host their planers and stuffs and its been stable long time, somebody help this dude out get hosted properly its such a nice planer ...

A note in the prefix/suffix about main hand (weapons).

In the acutal DDO game? I noticed when creating shards, it says "suffix" on all the weapon-capable shards, whereas the planner indicates some are prefix.


Example: I crafted ACID EFFECT, and under it's description it said "weapon suffix". The planner indicated it would be a prefix, however. I went with the planner, hoping.

Next, I created a BLUDGEON EFFECT, and under both the planner and the DDO engine, it said "weapon suffix". Possible conflict? We shall see.

Finally I created a CON DAMAGING, and under both planner and DDO engine, it said "weapon extra"

Okay. Deconstruct a plain old non-magical repeating crossbow, this process is essentially unchanged from the earlier version.

Next, put in ML11-- this modifies the deconstructed Xbow to say, "+4, suffix, prefix extra (with cannith mark)"

Fine. I thought I'd do the suffix first, and put in BLUDGEON--- it went into the suffix slot.

Next, with minor hesitation, I tried inserting the "suffix" ACID shard-- and what do you know? It went in.

DDO's description was WRONG. Am I surprised? well.... no, not really... ;)

Next, I used the shard-insertion machine to insert the Mark, even though it was not actually a shard-- and it worked.

Finally, inserted the CON DAMAGE extra shard-- and it went in.

+Reputation to the OP, for creating a PLANNER that is SUPERIOR to what DDO's poorly documented engine states.

Just wanted to say, I love the gear master... used it tonight to plan out my arti's gear and fit everything in. Would listing selected effects that *didn't* find a slot be possible when you click "Get result"? When just playing with it, it was difficult to see what got left out.

First: Suffix - wrong info.
Second: Extra - miss ring.
Third: Extra - runearm - wrong info.
I recheck this. Too much errors...

Fourth: devs says, that CC items like random -> its easy to find belt with insightful con. So, make report about bug in game.

* Yesterday, I found that INS bonus can't be applied to item with ML <=9. Now, this correct for planner too.
* Add full cost for item in planner.
* Add full cost for selected effect in "gear master".
* Add google analytics.

Reset to default happens only when you change level from (level_old >=10 to level_new<10) or (level_old<10 to level_new>=10).
This connected with different enchant list (item with min lvl <= 10, don't have INS bonus).
So, for now I won't make any changes for this.

Yep, I can confirm this. I've spent much time looking for the ideal level break in the low-mid 20s for various items (I mean, if it's gonna be BtA, might as well make it at the lowest ML that does the same thing as the highest I can make or equip, right?) and only have to change the ML shard, not anything else.

I agree it has been very helpful. It looks like you may have already changed the reset on the "select ML".

Also, it would be nice if the default settings were "NONE" rather than the top available affix.

Prior to my initial post, the planner would reset with any level change, not just the 10 boundary. After your response, I tested again and the behavior is more in line with your description. I don't know what changed but now it does not reset with changes from, say, 11 to 12, or 13 to 22.

It must have been on your end, because mine *never* reset (although I admittedly also never tried crossing the 10 boundary in either direction).

Went through the ah researching implement bonus values. In every case I checked (2-12, 15, 20, 25, 30) the implement bonus was equal to the ML. So it's reasonably safe to assume you get the ML(PL) for implement bonus, ranging from 1 to 34.

Yeah, the "new" method of Implement Bonus is based on the ML, while the "old" method was based on 3x the Enhancement Bonus. You can still find older loot that uses the "old" method, and I'd be willing to bet that named items that were created before the changeover use it as well (even fresh drops). No idea if the change was deliberate because of all the various methods to boost the enhancement bonus (Arti Enchant Weapon, Harper Enchantment, Enchant Weapon EPL, etc.) or just something that slipped through the coding when they did the loot pass a couple years ago, but it was a real nerf if you had access to any of those. And even without, it's generally a boost mid-game, but end-game it's another huge nerf.

I know that the FvS Angel of Vengeance enhancement Articles of Faith (which makes the deity's favored weapon a spellcasting implement) works using the old method, and I would assume that AA does the same. It's kind of funny 'cause my FvS with Articles of Faith and Righteous Weapons (for +5 enhancement bonus with deity's favored weapon) actually gets *both* Implement Bonuses listed, when she equips a caster scimi. Sadly, they don't stack, but with Harper Enchantment she basically has +6 enhancement bonus which really starts blowing the "new" Implement Bonus out of the water (Her ML 25 scimis are +7, so basically +13, so she gets +39 Implement Bonus... with 3 EPLs and an arti, she could get another +12 for +51... an ML 25 caster weapon would normally be stuck at +25).

From what I can tell, items 10+ have an effect, "Cannith Crafting - Mark of House Cannith" slot. You add a Mark of House Cannith and open up the third slot, and then you slot the third shard. Items ML9 and lower simply don't have this effect. So stuff that can go into the extra slot won't be found... but stuff that will go into the prefix WILL, even if it can be an extra. I disjuncted some gloves I hadn't already deconned for shards, put an ML 9 shard on them, and then went to the machine... after checking to see what effect can go on gloves AND an "extra" on somewhere else lol Settled on your suggested Perform, which is a prefix on gloves, by pure chance. I can, indeed, put a Perform shard on my ML9 gloves.

However, as it turns out, "Insightful" seems to only an ML10+ effect - my ML9 gloves show no recipe for Insightful Disable Device, which are listed as a possible suffix. The planner appears to take this into account, however, which is pretty cool - Insightful DD isn't an option in the planner for ML9 gloves.

But yeah, the shards (other than Insightful) don't seem to care the ML; if you can put it in a prefix or suffix of a particular item, it'll go in regardless of level. But only ML10+ items even get the opportunity for a 3rd effect.


Out of curiosity, what would you like to export it to?

Speaking for myself, I wouldn't mind an "export to text file" from the gear master so I can fiddle with gear setups and then save them for later crafting, rather than having to plan it out while in the game - sometimes twice, once to make the shards while I'm on my crafter and again when I get all the gear together so I can remember whether it's WIS/Spot on the goggles and INT/Search on the hat or the other way around (since I can put them all on a helm, but can't put Search on goggles), etc. I don't necessarily want to plan, craft, and build all in one go.

I made two ML 24 falchions one with and one without keen. Oe shows 3[2d4] and the other 4[2d4]. This suggests ML 24 Keen is actually Keen III. I plan to make a PL34 keen falchion sometime in the future(once i can find the scholarly notes) to see if it continues beyond Keen III.

Some users (like myself) take a long time to create a set so it gives us the ability to slowly create a set we are happy with. I normally spend about an hour during my lunchtime playing around with different combinations and it would be nice to have a place to start from each time. Not a big deal though.

There is no holy/holy burst in new CC system.
But you can add damage effect: good to your weapon. (this is prefix)

ML4 +2 (bludgeon) Good Effect 2d6 of Undead Bane 2d10 (Ruby of Ghostbane)

Bludgeon makes it work on skeletons, Good Effect bypasses ghostly skeleton DR in delera's, and the augment provides Ghost Touch for wraiths. That's a total of 2d6 good + 2d10 bane + 1d6 augment = 21.5 proc damage per hit. Yummy!

I'll probably make a maul to be shared by all my melee alts, plus maybe a light hammer for my swashbuckler. Before level 4 I just use a basic keen falchion to kill everything anyway; I only switch weapons for oozes and rusties.

It's a very good time to be thinking about it, what with Mabar opening today. Rubies of Ghostbane aren't overly difficult to farm up.

As far as the collectable location for farming. Are the abrevations the difficulty that you need to play a quest at to have the item drop?? Like EC Being Epic Casual, HE Heroic Elite etc. Is that correct?

This is correct.

Note that this planner only lists the easiest difficulty for the quest, so depending on level & ability you may be able to save a second or two per run by going in on normal instead of casual, if they fall into the same tier range (1-5, 6-10, 11-15, 16-20, 21-25, 26+), or run on elite if you're also going for an item, etc. When farming Glass Phials, for instance, I'll usually go in on HN instead of HC, because it saves a click, and my capped character doesn't even notice a difference. Or I might run Lords of Dust EE instead of EN for a T5 to also get a saga credit.

(Of course, in some cases doing this changes the tier, so just keep an eye on that *g*)

For collectibles locations, I think the guides are actually wrong in one specific case: Com collectibles like Lightning-Split Soarwoods don't drop in Forgotten Realms, right? Only in Eberron? So any guidance to try a dungeon in Forgotten Realms to farm those items will result in nada.

Conversely, for those tiers that include the Eberron-only items, if you are looking for a different item in the same tier, you actually WANT to farm in Forgotten Realms (everything else being equal), since the non-dropping items then don't take up a slot, which effectively increases the chances of a drop of the thing you want.

It would be good if the guide helps players in this regard.

Just want to be the zillionth person to say this planner is awesome. GREAT work, and much appreciated.

I took a hiatus for about 2 years and when I came back I was pretty confused about the new crafting. This planner pretty much gave me everything I needed to know AND helps me plan out actual crafting.

Best crafting help I've ever seen for the game, even better than a couple of the old greensteel crafters.

3 questions/suggestions:

-Would it be possible to add in some indicator to the lists of effects that a particular effect is exclusive to that gear slot? As an example, how Vampirism is only available on a melee weapon's extra effect location. Could possibly have different colored text indicating exclusivity to not just a particular gear slot, but a particular shard location as well.

-Would it be possible to make the Gear Master's minimum level selector lock out unavailable abilities? The dialog box that pops up for extra effects on <lvl10 feels a bit weird given how clean the rest of the builder is. It also doesn't seem to take into account the nonexistence of non-white augment slots for lvl1.

-In the Gear Master, would it be possible to add a 4th section, just to the right of the extra effects, that would be for augment slots?

I've just encountered your crafting planner for the first time, and I'm thrilled. Excellent work!

I think the overall presentation would be cleaner if you offered a pulldown (or radio button) selection for 'Bound' or 'Unbound' and presented the materials list only for whichever was selected. I keep seeing something like 'Funerary Token = 30' and I know it's only 15 for a bound shard.

Also, small presentation glitch: In materials for the Item you show Essences followed by Crafting Level. For Effects, you show Crafting Level followed by Essences.

But clearly these are just appearance things. I love how it works.

This is a really excellent utility, thank you for putting in the time to create it. I use this utility at least one per week. The feature I use most is the Gear Master, where I find it easiest to input the affixes I want and then have the Gear Master tell me which gear slots and prefix/suffix/extra they can go on.

I believe I have found a minor bug. When asking where Insightful Spellpower can go on the Gear Master it shows Weapon and Suffix no matter what level item is selected. While on the crafting page you are only offered Insightful Spellpower in the Suffix drop-down if you select an item of level 10 or higher.

So I created an Insightful Magnetism shard, blanked a scepter (club), and applied a ML5 shard. Then when I type 'insight' into the search bar I get "No matching recipes found. When I put 'magnet' in the search I am shown Magnetism for the prefix slot only. When I put the scepter and the Insightful Magnetism shard in the device with nothing in the search bar I am told "No matching recipes found."

So I think it is clear that the Gear Master is showing Insightful Spellpower as a suffix for items which cannot have that shard applied to them, while the crafting page accounts for this correctly. The same is true for the Extra slot affects being shown for items below level 10 on the Gear Master, but there at least it is known that you cannot apply an extra slot unless the item is a ML10 or greater.

When you select ML <10 and INS/extra effect in table, you should get message:
"INS effect and Parrying work only with ML 10+.
Extra slot work only with ML 10+"

Trinkets can have insightful deadly as an extra. This is missing from planner and from gear master.

I was surprised to find what I think is a bug. I was trying to make level 13 goggles with a colorless augment slot. When I go to see what available augments are for this item I am told "Skill (no UMD): +9." A Diamond of Skill +9 has a minimum level of 16, so without increasing the ML from the base item I would only be able to slot a Skill +7 item.

I also note as I decrease the ML to 12, 8, 4, 1; I am told I can slot a +9,+7,+5,+3, skill augment respectively. I think the issue may stem from that there are no skill augments usable at ML 1. P.S. Seems I fixed it long time ago in dev version, but miss that in community version.

I will try update planner in the late summer with new options, features and fix bug in Gear Master with two one-handed weapon.

Yeah I had to search to find the new site after it would not load, I use this planner a lot as most of my gear is crafted. I farm using the planner also so incredibly powerful and useful for me

Parrying is an insightful shard, despite not having "Insightful" in its name. As such, it can't be crafted below ML10. Gearmaster possibly doesn't take ML into account.

I noticed a typo in the Gear Master. When you press the "Get result" button, right above the word "Bound" is displayed the word "Ingridient" which should be "Ingredient".

The Planner indicated Parry was valid suffix for ML 7 helm, but it was not permitted in the crafting device for bound items.

If this happen when you use Gear Master then read note on this page:
"Note: INS effect and Parrying work only with ML 10+. This effect will be auto-unselect if you drop ML to 1-9/"

If this happen on real planner or no auto-unselect in gear master then please write me step to reproduce this.

You need to manually clear cache for planner site. Go to "Setting"
In "Advanced" open "Content Settings"
Go to "Cookies"
Open "See all cookies and site data"
Remove "ccplanner.byethost14.com" and "byethost14.com"

I cannot see components drop locations. For example, Scholarly Notes. Is it a bug or server change, but when I mouse hover on this item, there is no tooltip about drop locations of this collectable.
I think some time ago there was a list of quests to farm the collectable.

yeah I am sure I have thanked you before for this planner, but I am still using this for tweaking my gear.

The locations for farming stuff is great, those cryptmos worms at last stand don't seem so hard to get anymore (of course making sure I select the correct level is very important).
