So I just came back to DDO a few days ago after being gone for about 2.5 years. I leveled my main character up to 20 (he was level 14 when I came back), so now I am sitting on a level 20 pure sorcerer. I want to do epic levels this time around so I am looking for the easiest and most powerful way to do that.

A few things to keep in mind, I am a pure sorcerer, so no multiclassing. Let's assume I don't have high DC's at anything (I found a few high DC builds). I have access to all the heroic past life feats except for sorcerer and warlock (this is my 13th life). And lets assume I don't have any super gear. What are the best primary/secondary element for the 20 heroic levels of my sorcerer and what is the best epic destiny and twists for the epic levels? What feats are most important for me to take?

Currently I am fire/earth, but I am guessing I should switch to air since knockdown immunity seems pretty important (though I am open to absolutely any elemental builds). I assume I need to focus on spells that cannot be evaded or else low DC's would cause a problem. I would love to be able to solo epic elites, but I understand if that isn't possible with such a character. I will settle for whatever power I can get.

Thanks for the help.

The easiest would probly be fire specd with acid backup

Just spam the scorching ray sla n mm with the lvl 12 core no save stacking dots

If you have eds shiradi would be a good place to start robot would be best

in before someone says warlock!

sorcs are in kind of a bad place now.

they tend to blow through sp really quick.

i would say that fire/ice are less then optimal given the amount of immunities end game mobs have. so that leaves you with acid and elec - witch are counter to each other. so you look at what you can do with acid. (less damage, but some cc and few mobs immune to it.) if you go that route, you go with either fire or ice as the back up. they both play well with acid.

or you look at air. knockdown immunity, damaging spells (when they don't save) and a dot. it pairs well with either fire or ice - for more dots.

finally you can pick an element and go with force as your back up. you have the mm line of spells, disintegrate and the ruin spells at cap.

or you can go with the easy button shardai

Thanks to both of you. This is very helpful advice. Currently I am fire spec with earth backup and am feeling pretty weak in epic dungeons. I plan to go the shiradi route and am trying to figure out what the best elements are to pick for a shiradi sorcerer. I try to conserve my spell points which means I mostly use my spell like abilities with some spells when needed. What would be the best elements for relatively low cost damage? Air gives me knockdown immunity and a dot (which I miss having access to). Would that make air a better choice than earth? If so, what are the air spells I want to make sure to take? I am noticing fire has a lot of immunities. Would ice be a better choice? I know fire has scorching ray (which is nice and cheap with a multiple hit), but ice has another dot. Which one (fire or ice) would you say is better for a shiradi? What spells would you say are most important to pick? And finally, which element should be my primary versus my secondary?

Being an epic fire sorcerer, i can give you some feedback

In the early epic, there aren't lot of immune monsters , except outsiders. But you have often fire resistant monsters (especially champions).
Fire has the advantage to have 2 good spells (in addition to SLA) : firewall & scorching ray.
Firewall is an area spell that saved my life a few times. When you are stunned/tripped/..., you can't cast spells, but the firewall will continue to damage your opponents
Scorching Ray is a long range spell and cost only 8 sp. very usefull to pull one monster, and i use it between my sla rotation

Master of Fire (level 24 feat) make a huge difference. Max Caster level +10 means your fireball has 20 Dice instead of 10 !

And for backup, i have electricity (chain lightning+the electric DOT), power word kill and force spells

Historically, Air Savant was your best choice for a pure epic sorc: KD immunity + Wind Dance were major survivability perks and electric spells had the best burst DPS, IIRC. Take Fire or Water Savant as your backup depending on content, gear, or other considerations. [E.g., you said you wanted a pure sorc, but a sorc 18 / FvS 2 split has synergies between Fire Savant + AoV perks, esp. when you can twist Empyrean Magic as well.]

Downsides to Air Savant: you're more dependent on spells w/Reflex saves and there are a fair number of electric-immune endgame mobs these days. Lots of people still gravitate towards Shiradi builds, simply because it's the easiest way of prolonging your SPs and getting more oomph from your spells, particularly the AoE / multi-proc ones.

I am very open to non-Shiradi ideas, but I doubt the DC's of my spells are ever going to be extremely high so I am trying to make a build that is as strong as possible without needing very high spell DC's.

There are some spells without saving. Very useful when your DC is not high and mob has evasion !

Magic missile and other force spells are good example
Power Word Kill is also great, but long cooldown.
My favorite, as fire sorcerer, is Scorching Ray. And as fire sorcerer, you get a 4th ray.
I joine a group in EE Memoirs as level 24 in a lvl 32 quest. Of course, my DC was way too low, and all those CR55 elven ranger have evasion. But thanks to firewall and scorching ray, and some PWK, i was able to contribute to fights
I also have MM and force spells, but the damage is too low for the sp cost for those spells.
