Hello Guys, i'm a new player from Brazil and enjoying DDO xD

Some Friends are coming to the game but in fact build for new players are complicated...

So he wants to play as a Favored soul or sorcerer (he bought points in the store for 32 stats, half elf, warforged, so this is the options), for full caster if possible.

The main request is one build that he can have fun even at the early game (if is this possible, if is not probably he should change classe)

Please considerer that he will not play solo, i'm playing as paladin (thank you again guys for the threat of paladin for new players) and other friend as rogue.

So have you some tips and builds? We never reach the end game, so we want to do all dungeons low level (it's fun!) end enjoying the leveling... So i'm thinking about a Warforged Lord of Blades warpriest (so he can cut some folks but he will have nice suport spells for the team) but he will have problems with heal right? Is Full caster Favored Soul sux? Have others options of builds?

Thank You for help.

Hi, welcome to DDO. :)

If this is part of a static trio, then you can certainly play as the classic tank (paladin) / DPS (rogue) / caster (FvS) trinity. FvS lag behind other casters in epics, IMO, but a classic Evoker build is still "good enough" for most content. The only real downside is your friend might be a little bored in early levels, when caster DPS is not great; OTOH, once he hits lvl 12 and gets Blade Barrier, he'll be the one getting the last laugh, at least for a while.

So let's look at what a pure FvS caster build is like these days:

Some comments:

I didn't list all spells, just the ones I thought should be first priorities: tried to focus on DPS spells first, then healing & utility spells, with a little CC as well (Sound Burst, Gtr Command, Cometfall).
Epic feats offer a lot of customization options, but it boils down to do you focus on survivability boosts (Guardian Angel, Forced Escape, Deific Warding), Force-based DPS spells (Ruin+Gtr Ruin, Arcane Pulse, ESP Force), or regular spell bonuses (Intensify+Embolden).
I invest heavily into Spell Pen mostly to boost Implosion and Energy Drain; the downside is it costs 3 feat slots. Another option would be to ditch Spell Pen and take the Mental Toughness feats for extra SPs and +3% spell crit chance.
Don't be thrown off by the Twist slots; those are long-term goals, not something I expect a first-lifer to have right away, and none of them are must-haves. Your friend will need to adapt the list as he works on leveling EDs and gaining Fate pts.
I considered taking heavy armor proficiency for the extra PRR, but don't consider it a must-have unless there's a specific hvy armor (http://ddowiki.com/page/Category:Heavy_armor) your friend decides to use.

EDIT: early gameplay mostly revolves around rotating the low-lvl DPS spells (Nimbus / Sound Burst / Searing), with the occasional Cure tossed out; like I said, this is the boring part of leveling a FvS, unfortunately. But by lvl 8 he gains Holy Smite, the first "good" AoE divine spell, IMO, and from there it gradually gets better: Divine Punishment, Flame Strike, Gtr Command, and of course Blade Barrier.

As for gear: apart from the usual survivability gear everyone wants (i.e., +CON, False Life, Fortification, Resistance, etc.), he'll want anything which boosts his DCs (+WIS and Spell Focus) and Spellpower (esp. Light / Radiance - later on Force / Impulse is important for Blade Barrier).

Hello unbongwah xD

Thank you for your complete and quick reply, i had read at Reddit that you are "the one completely tireless member able to help new players", and it is true xD

I like to undestand how this works (and probably i'll play a caster in the future xD) so i have some questions:

You pick Metamagic talents early, i played as wizzard before (just reach level 7) and this talents drain so much spell points. So i undestand that probably i was not using well or take it too early, so when a caster shoul activate Max Pot and Quinken spell? Is truly helpfull take it so early?

Abusing of your Lawfull and Good trend, have you some tips for our rogue? He wants to focus in bow for DPS (he was leaving Kothos last night), with lot of skills to find Traps, Doors ans others that just DDO can provide xD.

Thank you again, he will start tonight xD (and probably i will star a new paly just to help him to get out of Kothos xD)

No, but there's not really anything better to take at low lvls, IMO, unless your friend wanted a battlepriest; but that's a completely different build and would look more like Axel's battlecleric (https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/454776-Axel-s-THF-Melee-Cleric-Build).

The biggest drawback to FvS vs other casters IMO is they don't get any SLAs (spell-like abilities) except for their capstone. SLAs can be metamagic'ed for free (i.e., it doesn't increase their SP cost), so they're the primary DPS tools of other casters. On a FvS, though, you'll mostly use un-meta'ed regular spells and save the metamagics for boss fights, at least early on. Ironically, he'll get much more use out of his metamagics in epic levels, when they can be applied for free to Epic Destiny (ED) SLAs like Avenging Light and Sunbolt.

Fortunately, one of the upsides to FvS is Just Reward: "When you critically hit with a Fire, Force, Light, or Physical damage spell, you gain 3/6/10 Sacred temporary spell points." So the idea is to use your cheap spells to proc Just Reward to help offset the SP cost of more expensive spells like Divine Punishment and Blade Barrier.

Bows are...not ideal for rogues, but it can be done; see this build (https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/464612-Elven-Pure-Rogue-Mechanic-Dreadnaught-Eviscerator?p=5750078&viewfull=1#post5750078). Otherwise, though, his best bet is a Mechanic build, of which there are a few listed here (https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/470423?p=5759354&viewfull=1#post5759362).

I hate to say this but the better FvS currently is a level 20 (pure) ES Warlock. As everything its perfectly playable, just far from optimal when there are classes that do the same thing 3-4 times faster while taking half the risks.
