Any ball park figure on the time?

Like about 30 mins, maybe 2 hrs or 4 hrs+?

pretty sure if they could give a good estimate, they would. and after the complications last time, I think no one wants to be flogged for giving an even slightly off guess.

Sorry, got Rocky Horror stuck in my head for some reason.

This is my guess:

The Riposte item benefit is causing game performance issues by stacking upon itself too often. This does not provide a stacking benefit, but instead is causing in-game "lag" and game client performance issues. Please do not equip an item with Riposte for now, while we work quickly to correct this issue.

Tendon Slice is also causing a problem, particularly in PvP. Getting hit with Tendon Slice in PvP is causing a character to get a "permanent" Tendon Slice damage effect until they die. We are working to resolve this with a hotfix tentatively planned for Tuesday as well.

Either the lag or the Ml1 vorpal weapons. Hopefully the lag.

Thanks for the info.

By the way, you guys still haven't compensated the players for the time the game was offline and now somethings are still not working well. Also I am sure that there is going to be a drop rate nerf. (Tell me honestly , how many times there was an update without having to fix things later???) I am sorry to say but someone is not doing the job well.

I do apologize for being rude Cordovan but I was given reasons by your team.

I do hope that you guys can make the game work well. Cheers.

The hotfix will address the following issues:

Fixed an issue where several Green Steel weapon effects would not persist through logout.
Arcane Warrior now works with ranged weapons.
Scion of Elysium's tooltip now makes it clearer that the bonuses apply to your pets.
Riposte no longer causes game performance issues.
Tendon Slice is no longer the cruelest form of PvP.
Insightful and Quality Potency effects now give their proper type of bonus.
We have adjusted the horn sounds in To Curse the Sky.
Tempest Spine Runes are now accepted by the Tempest Rune Trader instead of Hound of Xoriat Runes, although the tooltip continues to ask for Xorian runes.
Adjusted lighting and several other issues in the quest Creeping Death.
Fortis should no longer get stuck in an NPC state in the final part of Legendary Shroud.
Storm's Harness handwraps no longer lose their shocking effects. A recipe now exists in the Stone of Change to repair handwraps affected by this bug. NOTE: The Stone of Change will remove any Augments placed into the handwraps, so remove the Augments prior to using the Stone of Change.

you could put it that an optimistic estimate would be an hour, conservatively 2-4 hours, but anything other than we'll get back to you.

this leads to conclusions that they are not sure of their work.

Plus it would give us an estimate when to start spamming refresh or just leaving the client at the update server until it gets a response.

Courtesy is contagious.

Nice list of fixes, 30 minutes warning ingame (enough to do a quest and some slayers). I'm ok with this.
Now I just got to decide whether to keep hitting F5 for an update on the servers or go do something productive.

Thanks so much for all your hard work!

Could you kindly turn your attention to the new items' Spell Lore? I have it on two gloves on my character on Argonnessen and neither item gives Spell Lore when I open the Character Sheet.

I've also noticed some issues with the Dire Lores on Rings, particularly that they have the wrong names. Impulsive = Negative lore and Reconstructive = Sonic or Radiance lore (can't recall which atm, servers are down).

I look forward to enjoying your game after the hotfix is done. Have a great day!

Any chance on a sale or code for a free jewel of fortune 1/account to fix handwraps? As far as length of downtime, we were told it takes 3-5 hours to push a build through all the stages - I expect it to be about that long.

i admit that i havent really tried the druid, however i remember building my first half orc, and the artificer release... the chronoscope was smooth, it seems like as they have changed the base game more with each update, it has made each update more unstable... they had a decent system when i started playing, but when they changed twf, and enhancements, and started changing the way the numbers work behind the scenes they also damaged the stability, and made a lot of people give up the game

Well, they think part of the problem with the recent lag is riposte, and the list Cordovan posted says they're fixing that. I guess you haven't been following the forum conversation about riposte. Anyway, they are addressing what they think is causing some of the U29 lag.

The pronounced lag since the update is largely due to Riposte, which is fixed in this build.

Horns was one of the most-reported things that people didn't like in the new content, so while the lag was being worked on, we fixed that too.

The Devs have often said that if a fix is easy, then they do them as they can. This must have been a simple fix to add, so they did. It's not a matter of there being things that are more pressing or something you may see as a priority...they could fit it into this build so they did. On Lamm, some of the first feedback on the forums about this quest was the noise of the horns...some people obviously thought it was important enough to address...

As far as length of downtime, we were told it takes 3-5 hours to push a build through all the stages - I expect it to be about that long.

Nah I think they will have pre-compiled this one, just installing it.
But what they must do is:

Shutdown all server login possibilities & kick-out everyone,
... waiting until kick-out manages to kick everyone, grab a coffee
Back, verify all are kicked, manual kick remainder (sorry)
Start back-up of data on all servers
... waiting for backup to finish, grab a coffee, shoot some darts, choose Pizza
Back, verify all backups are done, and of course one (we know which one) is still busy ... more coffee?
Ah, done.
Lead verify all systems clear for install & order install.
Installation started on all servers.
... waiting for installation to finish, grab some Diet-Coke (not too much coffee), re-choose Pizza as the one you wanted is not there. As if Salami is really a special flavour ....
Back, not all there some went outside etc.
Verify installs are all done
Lead verify all systems clear for data upgrade to fix items & some back-end tables (string tables anyone?) & order data migration fix to start.
Start data fix on all servers
... waiting for data fix to finish, and again the same server takes a wee bit longer, oh well it seems Pizza has arrived !
... eating
... all done? nope G is still busy
Back, all done, G almost
Done.
Lead verify all seems OK & orders final checks & tests.
QA-team arrived in time for Pizza, figures, now they start testing.
... waiting DEV team shoots some pool, plays darts etc
Back, all done, all OK (yeah right, but hey this is fantasy OK?)

Lead verifies all OK and orders restart of servers :)

Something like that.
Compilation will have been done before, installation does not take that long.
It is the preliminaries and the after work that do.
It especially depends on how long the data fix (if any) takes and how long QA will be busy.

At least the Bliz team dose this kind of thing in the middle of the night (3am pst) when the least number of players are on, not Mid-day when there are a lot of people on, and a hot fix is not a patch but only needs a server restart... not sure I left WoW for the right game now. . . and with no estimate of the duration of the down, I am inclined to go back to WOW or maybe play EQ. . .

having one hotfix on druid, versus the 3 we have seen for update 29... before the druid their where none... updates where in the middle of the night usually. and by the next morning almost everything worked and whatever needed tweaking could usually wait for the coming update. i understand that sometimes things just go sideways, but with the maintenance problems, and the unbalanced updates the player base has reduced to nearly a third of what it was when i started this game

You have no idea what you're talking about. Restarting a server doesn't magically fix issues where a code change is required. This is a game update that requires installing like any other.

All "hot fix" means is that it's an emergency change with limited scope, rather than a massive game update with new features and stuff.

How about bows that add to doublestrike and melee weapons which add to doubleshot? Dire Radiance rings adding to acid crit chance, heck, most of the dire rings not applying crit to the proper element?

it does amuse me when people quit because things are getting fixed. Of course you can argue that it shouldn't have gotten broken in the first place, but that would be in a perfect world with perfect conditions and no unforeseeable circumstances ever. Or in other words: boring!

Yes this hot fix is in the middle of the afternoon (for EST), but this is also fixing some game breaking issues. People not being able to log in and the issues associated with riposte which cause game freezing lag are a big deal. Fixing the game for everyone is a big deal. Is everything being addressed? No. But at least (hopefully) the user experience will be improved because of it.

Remember the update (forget which one...) that had physics/clipping broken and people could fall through floors or agro something accross a whole dungeon? When game breaking code goes live (and remember, even if it works in testing, it may not work the same on live), it needs to be fixed ASAP.

+0 Enhancement bonus to Concentration
and +0 Insight bonus to Concentration
At least they stack, right?

At least the Bliz team dose this kind of thing in the middle of the night (3am pst) when the least number of players are on, not Mid-day when there are a lot of people on, and a hot fix is not a patch but only needs a server restart... not sure I left WoW for the right game now. . . and with no estimate of the duration of the down, I am inclined to go back to WOW or maybe play EQ. . .
Do you think the employees at Blizzard are there at 3am or something? No, they schedule it automatically at a time when no one is there, so they put off the fix at least a half day or more. I'd rather have a fix out asap when my client has 2-5 minute pauses every few minutes. More minor fixes, or content, or balance, sure, schedule them at funny times (and DDO does). Major performance? Get it out asap when it's fixed. I'm glad they're doing it this close to Xmas, and near the start of a lot of people's holidays (read: week of gaming ;)).

I loved the horns. Its a great effect, and it lets you know there is a battle raging, and your little party is not the only thing around.

As for people that quit the game, so be it. I have found those types are never happy, and quit over the silliest little things. They are best ignored, as no matter what is done, their happiness is unobtainable.

I love the update and especially the challenge LE now offers. After the hotfix, I am looking to do more LE raids.

I had to turn off the background noise for that quest because of the horns. It was the wrong tone/pitch for me and aggro'd my migraines. The idea was good, but the reality of it not so much.

My Windows 7 machine will often crash to desktop after the first log in of the day. It is usually not a big problem because I check mail and do mundane tasks before questing.

Last night when I hit the lever in the pipe room in Creeping death the game crashed to desktop with a lost connection warning. When I tested my connection from Windows it was working fine.

Will this hot fix correct the crashing to desktop problem? There are also some clicks and pops in the audio but it is not too irritating.

+1

Please, if you have time, fix the spell lore items as they are currently completely broken.

I have this problem too. It started with U27?ish, basically the same time as the weird lag issues started. I think they're probably related. Of course, changing things like Riposte isn't going to fix the overall lag issues we've seen the last couple months, as in whole instances completely freezing like the bank or 12.

Do yourselves, and all of us a huge favor - telegraph your updates and hotfix patching better. Perhaps doing that takes time, or more personnel, or better coordination. And perhaps those are all attributes and resources that you do not have.

Nonetheless - if you are able to telegraph your updates and patching a little better, it will do wonders for building player trust and good will. Good luck with the hotfixing.

On a side note, hand axes cause monks to become uncentered, but they are considered proficient with the weapon. And a little bit more aging on the monk side, why can't monks use clubs? Almost every major form of martial arts includes fighting sticks. Any chance you Devs out there can take a look at that if you all get a free moment after the hotfix?

Just because monks are proficient with a weapon doesn't mean it's a ki weapon. In PnP, you can only flurry with those weapons categorized as "monk" weapons (quarterstaff, kama, sai, shuriken, nunchaku, siangham). Becoming uncentered with a weapon in DDO is basically the equivalent of not being able to use your flurry of blows in PnP.

As in title, spellcasting implement was fixed from the 3 x item level back to 3 x enhancement bonus of the item. The problem now is that it is capped by the item level. so my lvl 14 +5 enhancement caster weapon with spellcasting implement on it gives +14 implement bonus, 1 less then is should base. BUT, I have +6 enhancement bonus added from enhancements and past lives, so it should be +34 implement bonus, but is capped by the item level at +14...

Love the game, but every update/patch/hotfix breaks as much or more then it fixes...

it's in the known issues that ship amenities/buffs can take up to an hour after server restart to repopulate/apear. It's an annoyance, but something you will have to wait out.

I think you meant Jeweler's Kit and some folks have more than 1 Monk.

I did mean toolkit, I did mean 1/account. There's no reason for everyone to be able to stock up on a bunch of toolkits. 1 would be very nice of them. Alternatively, they could make it a chance to get one for a gold festivult coin or something.

OK, On uninstall and reload 2 about to start 3rd. Anyone seen this problem before? I am running as administrator, from ICON, from file location and have tried running DDO client also with no luck. No restrictions on access or running listed. Running Win 10 and tried on Win 8 and Win 7 compatibility. It was running fine before the patch.

Edit: Ok still doing it after 4th install. Even uninstalled Akamai and rebooted each time. I give up.

Edit 2: 4th install worked finally. The issues... Avast decided Akamai was a virus. Akamai had decryption and download errors .. repeatedly, my firewall decided to block ddoclient.exe fun and games.

First chance I have had to play in 4 days and I get the message that my server is closed? Last time I tried to p[lay before this I was shut out for a day because of the update crash. Is there going to be any subscription compensation? Or does the implied contract not mean that I actually get service in exchange for payment? Been playing for 10+ years and this is nearly as frustrating as when the first easy button was installed back with the first enhancement system overhaul.

It is sad that you are having problems with your setup, jalont, but I am glad I am not the only one having problems. A long time ago my machine would always crash after the first login of the day. Then the launcher pre-loaded the cache and it did not crash for a while. After that it would often crash after a few minutes on the first login. Now I see crashing to desktop, freezing, and rubber-banding on a regular basis. It would be great if these hot fixes would correct those problems too.

Some things to note:

If you look in the AH, you still see the old implement bonuses(3 times the normal) on the items. When you buy them, they have their proper values.

Doubleshoot in items has been reduced. Same as above. When you buy for example a +15 doubleshoot item in AH, it will be +8 when you have it in your inventory.
Doublestrike seems not to be changed. This seems weird. Is that intended?
