A couple of big temp HP sources you missed:
- Blood tribute from the frenzied berserker tree gives a pretty big chunk of temp HP at the cost of a stacking, non-removable -1 CON per use until you rest, which can be a massive survivability boost in low to mid levels especially so long as you don't overuse it since remember, you *can* drain your CON to 0 by using this.
- Rejuvenation Cocoon, which gives temp HP as well as it's healing effect - good even on pale masters for the temp HP portion & hey, it's on a festivult cookie (spiderweb, mainly from silver sometimes copper coins) meaning it's great for low to mid levels to activate just before running through a trap.

As for the high-hp benchmarks, I agree it's hardly the end of the world if you haven't hit those points - it could even be argued that if you're a little on the squishier side, it pretty much forces you to learn to play smarter & more tactically & overfocussing on HP can lead you into a false sense of security by encouraging you to disregard that kind of thing, causing a nasty shock when you run into something tricky later.

Plus, apparently in U29 HP and PRR are apparently pointless :p
If you can take a spellsinger bard with 300 HP and 10 PRR in LE HoX, you'll be much more welcome than the barb with the 2k hit points that's gonna die at the first enemy.
So, HP/PRR is dead if U29 goes forward as is. Long live dodge, displacement, ghostly :D
