Hello everyone! Announcing a new show to start streaming weekly at 3PM-6PM Eastern on Sunday afternoon on https://twitch.tv/ddostream - ShoeMaker Builds a ____! Going to go through building some fun to play character builds! First few weeks we'll be building a Dwarven Barbarian for new first life, free to play players. I'll post a corresponding thread in the appropriate forum for each build (which I'll link to from here when it is created) so it'll be easy for you to build one too! Playlist for all builds: Shoe Cobbles a (insert build here) (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLyXoYvmptXuFX37ABNHgVWNgivt17xVY3)

The first character's goal is to be first life fully free to play; which means a 28 point build with no extra races, classes, or content packs to work from (except what I can get from favor TP). It also means that it'll be all gear that can be easily farmed or purchased in the plat AH. The goal is to start with a nice, easy Dwarven Barbarian. Don't miss it!

The second character's goal is to be first life fully free to play; since we've run through 400 favor on one previous character, we should now have access to the Drow race! It also means that it'll be all gear that can be easily farmed or purchased in the plat AH. The goal is to build a Drow Rogue Mechanic. Trappers are always useful in game, although they can be on the challenging side of soloing content at this stage. They are a very fun build for a first life, second+ character player with a small group and can boost XP per quest by up to 30% (which is great for a new static group). Don't miss it!

The third character's goal is to be first life fully free to play; which means a 28 point build with no extra races, classes, or content packs to work from (except what I can get from favor TP). It also means that it'll be all gear that can be easily farmed or purchased in the plat AH. The goal is to play a plain Human Cleric mostly heal specced. This build is currently not very popular due to in-game changes that improved self healing amongst most classes for players with relatively moderate to high in-game experience. It's still a fun build for a first life player with a small group. Don't miss it!

The fourth (and final in this series) character's goal is to be first life fully free to play; since we've run through 400 favor on one previous character, we should now have access to the Drow race! It also means that it'll be all gear that can be easily farmed or purchased in the plat AH. The goal is to build a Drow Wizard Archmage. Casters are always useful in game, although they can be on the challenging side of soloing content at this stage. They are a very fun build for a first life, second+ character player with a small group and can provide lots of nice buffs and DPS (which is great for a new static group). They can also be build to perform crowd control, which can be a vital aspect of gameplay. Don't miss it!

I vote for Lifebard. Or perhaps a build focused on bees.

I believe we are long overdue for an update to the swimcleric (https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/302802).

YEAH! and maybe somebody can hold a contest (not it) to create a unique ShoeMaker Builds planner theme just for you! ;p

Could we get an EK at some point? Preferably Sorc, but seems like people like Wiz more.

Edit: May not qualify as "fun to play", but still.

This could be a real challenge, but i always thought a cleric or fvs based arcane archer would be fun, possibly through the elven AA unlock. Make sure to max diplomacy ;)

For me a "fun build" has always been trying to make something work that seems to be impossible .... it started for me with trying to make a shuriken build before motu - so with the old enhancements and no destinies (he - and it worked^^)

Since then shuriken have been buffed big time ... new challenge: Make a sickle based character (without bard levels) ... or a dart based character ... or a throwing axe barbarian ... or a Henshyn Mytic that actually gets those useless SLAs to work (aka a caster monk) ... or an Animal Empathy focused character ... that's gonna be rough (challenge would be: be able to use Animal Empathy on epic elite animals :D) lol

Don't forget, first-life F2P, you can't open on elite, you gotta play normal / hard / elite unless you have an elite unlocker in your party! also, good luck getting to 20, won't be easy when you'll have only a few quests availables past level 10 :)

Maybe consider purchasing content with any f2p earned favor points? But then it becomes Premium, not f2p, eh?

From [[Account comparisons]] (http://ddowiki.com/page/Account_comparisons): "Free To Play accounts are accounts that have downloaded DDO for free and have not purchased any content with real world money. " and "Premium Account accounts are accounts that have registered a retail account key, purchased at least one month of VIP status in the past, or purchased any amount of Turbine Points from the DDO Store."

That said, anything I purchase from the DDO store using TP that I earned from favor still qualifies as F2P. It requires a "real world money" purchase in order to be considered PF2P.

I may have to do some server hoping for 100 favor per server to get TP to buy a pack (probably VoT (http://ddowiki.com/page/The_Vale_of_Twilight) if my guess is right) as it should probably be the first pack anyone buys (and the price is going up as of U29).
