Hey guys,

I am looking for a decent Elf Fvs Twf Scimitar build. Preferably with mass heals or at least cures. I expect it to be a full healer, good dps, and high survivability. I rolled a 18Fvs/2Monk, and I am pretty excited, but I guess you guys can make better builds and this is what I am asking you.

The build I like best will get the name "Shaoria" (in case it does not already have a different name), a tribute to the guy who inspired me to this build, when lvl 20 was cap. I guess it deserves an update to lvl 28. Unfortunately he left the game years ago. But his spirit of being an excellent raid healer and decent dps dealer will remain.

Short summary:
- Elf
- Scimitar Twf
- Fvs
- good raid healer
- good dps
- good survivability

Good luck.

I am heroic single completionist. And calculate with +3 tomes (which is the lower bound of my tomes).

I tried something similar on my FVS.
This used to be pretty popular thing when FVS first came out iirc, now not as much.

Feats are an issue.
You need a bunch. A big bunch.

You can get the TWF line but then you are starved for caster feats, or go the opposite way and grab caster feats but then you don't get off-hand procs w/o TWF.

I just gave up on the TWF and went with the defense and evasion from monk and cast light and spells for DPS.
It's not what I was after when I started but it seems moar better.

I suppose the way to go is to forget about all the Metamagic stuff and go TWF line with empowered heal and just do the healing side.
You'll probably have to dump Wis for the most part so you won't have DCs at all.

I just couldn't see ending up with anything that was even half the DPS of Divine Lazor Beams, hence my giving up on it.

Good luck and please post your final build.
I'll give it a try if you can make it work like the old days.

In my first attempt I use the whole twf line up to perfect twf. Got empower heal, and maximize, and even dragonmark of shadows for displacement. I wish i could squeeze extend feat in it, but yes I am feat starved. Wis is dumped, max strength, some charisma. Pretty solid build, but I am trying to optimize it. Because it is great fun to play.

Preferably with mass heals or at least cures. I expect it to be a full healer

As it is now, Mass Heal is seldom cast; a lot of Prestige Enhancements and Epic Destinies have powerful healing abilities, which make dedicated healers not really needed.

I am looking for a decent Elf Fvs Twf Scimitar build.

If you are set on Mass Heal or any other lvl 9 spell, then you can afford only a shallow (2 levels) splash: I'd go with fighter (Heavy Armor proficiency, 2 feats, cheap Haste Boosts from Kensei) or Paladin (Heavy Armor, Divine Grace, KotC Exalted Cleave); 2 ranger levels (TWF, Bow Strength and Rapid Shot) might allow you to squeeze in Manyshot.

If you are willing to part with lvl 9 spells, then you can afford a deeper splash: at least 3 fighter or paladin levels are good options; Stalwart Defender or Sacred Defender stances will make you way more survivable. Keep in mind that Favored Souls get Leap of Faith at lvl 17.

Pure or paladin splash (7 heroic + 3 epic feats):
- TWF + ITWF + GTWF
- Improved Critical
- Precision
- Quicken, Maximize for healing and some offensive spells (Divine Light, the odd Blade Barrier)
- Overwhelming Critical
- 2 more to toy with: I'd consider Extend and Dragonmarks (Displacement).

- 2 or 3 fighter levels splash:
add PA and Cleave to the list.

Epic Destinies:
- Divine Crusader and Legendary Dreadnought for DPS
- Unyielding Sentinel, when you need to beef up.

I am heroic single completionist. And calculate with +3 tomes (which is the lower bound of my tomes).
just made this on lammania and ran through lords of dust ee, 13 min completion (t2 thunder forged weapons and upgraded heavy armor)
http://i.imgur.com/iuosWRN.jpg
as far as healing goes, heal~800, mass serious~300, mass mod~250, mass light~200
ameliorating strike usually hits twice and heals for ~250 in aoe
consecration heals for ~150

starting stats and +4 supreme tome
str 14
dex 14 (enough for TWF)
con 14
int 14 (max heal, concentration, balance, umd, 5 tumble, 10 jump. if your fine without one of these you can lower you int)
wis 8
cha 16 (i put level ups here but you could easily go for str for damage but have less sp and saves)

feats in no particular order
TWFx3
quicken
emp heal
Power attack
force of personality
imp crit: slash
wep focus: slash
wep spec: slash(fighter)
shadow dragonmark(you can fit in displace if you dont go for t5 warpriest) ->completionist

I used to have a 18/2 half elf favored monk build. It was nice at level 20 but not OP.
Now I strongly recommend a 17 favored soul 3 paladin split.
Half Elf is the superior choice because of the racial damage boost but you can go elf and be ok.
Get the Tier 5 from harper (melee and spell power), Defensive stance from Sacred Defender with 25 PRR/MRR, Damage boost and Cleave from KotC and 10 PRR from Warpriest.

17 favored is great because you get wings and all the buffs and heals except for mass heal which no one uses anymore anyways.

Then I'd go for a max out charisma build so you can make the best use of your energy burst, hellball and Soundburst SLA since their DC is based on your charisma score.
The Soundburst (aoe Stun) is really powerful and you should abuse it.

Your Strength will be very high regardless thanks to Divine might that gives you a boost to your strength based on your charisma.

You will be able to run in Divine crusader to further increase your Charisma score and boost your melee DPS and your heal capability with Sacred Ground.
Twist in Energy burst, Soundburst SLA and Cocoon to spot heal other people if you want to raid heal.

36 Point build stats using +3 tomes.
14 Str
14 Dex
14 Con
8 Int
8 Wis
18 Cha + Level Up Points

Level progression
1-17 Favored Soul 18-20 Paladin

Feats

1 Precision
3 TWF
6 Quicken
9 Maximize
12 ITWF
15 IC Slashing
18 GTWF
21 Overwhelming Critical
24 Empower or Completionist
26 Spell Power Force
27 Ruin
28 Hellball

Enhancements
Get the Tier 5 from harper (melee and spell power), Defensive stance from Sacred Defender with 25 PRR/MRR, Damage boost and Cleave from KotC and 10 PRR and Divine might from Warpriest

If you're completionist, have you given any thought to Druid active PL feat? It's a fun alternative that allows you to pump WIS if you want to do some offensive casting as well. Good synergy with Monk splash too.

You mean the Flame Blades?
I tried that and there was a problem, can't quite recall now.
Maybe it was weapon buffs messing them up like Celestia?
Damage didn't scale well either as you level iirc.
Also, don't quote me on this, i may be wrong - but I seem to recall they disappear when you unequip them and you only have a few summons between shrines which is rough when you are a healer who may want to use scrolls a bunch.

It's also pretty funny that you aren't even proficient with the blades you summon from your own mind :-D
I had that issue because I was a Human FVS, but you wouldn't if you were an elf because they are scimmys.

I'd try it on a test before committing to it though, because even though I can't quite recall what, I'm pretty sure there is something that made them very unworkable.
Nobody ever uses them, I suspect for a reason.

They have a bunch of problems - no implement bonus, no red slots, the unequip, the limited casts and so on. I also suspect the OP want scimmies because he happens to have a bunch already.

But if it's for flavor, and you're for some reason not willing/able to use Forgotten Lights (such as being centered), and want to be a DC-caster first with supplemental MDPS, they're certainly a viable alternative. At least I found them to be so, but YMMV.

i would recommend to take a max of lvl 15 FvS / 3 Paladin (for saves + free cleave feat) / 2 either Monk or fighter (for 2 free feats; both same amount of free feats Monk a bit more skillpoints)
another build that would work is 14 FvS / 3 Paladin / 3 Ranger (for free twf/rapid shot and +10% offhand strikes)

heroic feats (using the Ranger variant as it is a bit more dps )
7 heroic
3 epic
1 free twf (for ranger lvl 2+)

twf (free), itwf, gtwf, power attack or precision, impr. critical => essential melee feats you will Need = 4 feats leaves 3 for spellcasting
maximize, quicken, cleave = 3 heroic feats
for epic feats : overwhelming critical, either empower or empower healing (since no mass healing i personally would stay with empower over empower healing), blinding Speed or Ruin
ED feats : ptwf, hellball

skills max heal, spellcraft, 1 rank in tumble, leftovers in concentrate + UMD

stats :

str : 15
Dex : 14
Con: 13
Int : 11
Wis: 8
Chr: 17 (+ all lvl-ups in here)
why go for chr and not str ? .... the reasons are :
* hellball : reflex save either Int or Chr = decent DC
* saves : since Paladin lvls give you Divine Grace (+chr bonus to all saves) that's the most important reason
* more sp (doesn't matter really, you should have enough sp
* Divine Might (gives you your chr bonus to your str, so the difference between chr-build + str-build isn't really that big)

spells : use anything that doesn't give saves (Divine Punishment for bosses, buffs, Light for normal mobs), you can even use bb vs. non evasion mobs since a maxed, empowered BB with half strength hits for quite some dmg

Enh :
Tempest 6 (to get +10% offhand)
SD : 13 (get +3 Strong Defense for more dps, any of the other 2 for more HP; also get defensive Stance for more PRR + MRR)
Angel of vengeance : 25 (Need 1 Rank of Intense Faith, get all +% to spell crits, get summon Archon)
Warpriest : 36 (important ones here are all the duty themed +hit / dmg; ameliorating Strike, all cores you can get)

ED : Divine Crusader (real good combination for FvS with Archon + melee :) )

I ran three FvS TwF Schim builds back to back not to long ago and I can give you ups and downs of splits like these.

Build 1 14 FvS 4 Ftr 2 Pally- I actually did this one as a Bladeforged, and it's a nice okish DPS build for soloing EE and group play in a role of helping to sustain front line melees. My spell choices probably are not what I selected.

Afterward I played a Helf 15 FvS 3 Pally 2 Ftr w/ Rogue or Sorc Dilly. I dropped great cleave. Pretty much the same, but instead I focused more on melee and spell DC. Hold DC works great through heroics, fail off in higher EHs, but you have BB by then and I worked on maxing it out as much as possible for dmg, not DC. Knew there was no way there. Overall, it was a nice build. The BF was more survivable. The problem here was...the scimatars. There's no great ones in epics other than TF, and maybe ToEE gens may be ok because they'd work well with the vulnerbility from smite.

So

Build 3 Human 15 FvS 3 Pally 2 Ftr.

This one is much better. More Damage or Spell Power and another feat. 2 Monk would work in place of the ftr with planning and taking twf and power attack or what ever there.

I'd At least get

TWFx3
IC: Slash
PA or Precision
Can take Pally cleave now from this set up.

Emp Heal-Increases healing from Amorelating Strike.
Maximize
quicken
Extend-Could switch it later on, but I kept it for certain abilities like when I dropped DM PrE and picked it up as a spell.
Enlarge, Evocation DC, Empower

I enjoyed build one best. I ran a 20 FvS/ 18/2 monk FvS way back when Barbs fell by the wayside. I've returned to them now because that's what I loved playing for 25 years, but this split is a lot better than the 20 or 18/2. I've got plans to revisit in the future, but to give up pally tier 3s, and go 17 FvS (more AoE heals which may be what you're looking for) 2 Pally (DG as long as it's here), and 1 Ftr (Make up for a feat).

Sorry, wish I could have put more time in this but family calls.
