Are you looking for generic gear suggestions, or named gear?

some of the best PM gear for mid - high heroics comes from :

http://ddowiki.com/page/Ascension_Chamber

Loot at that loot as a starter.

If you have the Cannith Challenge pack, there is useful caster gear you can craft relatively quickly, but you generally have to enjoy the challenge format. If you're a new player, learning the most efficient challenge runs can be a bit of a learning curve, but many players have posted good tutorials on the web.

Okay, well, generically as a PM you should be looking for the following effects on gear:

- Intelligence bonus: the highest you can get (typically +6)
- Constitution bonus: the highest you can get
- Spell power: According to whichever spells you prefer to use for direct damage, cold/fire/acid/electric/force/negative
- Spell lore (critical chance): As above for spell power
- Spell focus: to increase the DCs for select types of spells, generally you'd be looking at Instakill DCs and crowd control. So, Necro (once you get your first Necro spells) and Enchantment focus mostly.
- Spell Points: Power/Wizardry items, the best you can get
- Hit Points: False Life and/or Vitality
- Striding/Speed: for movement speed

Those are the main ones I can think of off the top of my head. Ideally you should be trying to squeeze as many effects onto a single item as you can, so items with augment slots are ideal.

On named items, I'm not sure it's worth specially farming for much, as you'll outgrow and level past most named items quickly. These days random loot often has effects that are as good or better than what you can find on mid-level named gear.

That said, you might have another high-level character that you want to use to farm some items, or you might want suggestions for quests with good items to run while you level up and hope to get lucky and get something useful for levelling. I'll think about it a bit and see if I can offer some suggestions later today once I'm done work.

Ok, so, I'm following up on this a bit later than I'd planned. But for the OP, if you're still reading, I have some suggestions in regards to named items for the levels you're thinking about (11-15).

Firstly, there's not much point in trying to get specific items for these levels, since the randomness can mean that you may need to run quests/quest chains several times. And the items will only be good for a short time before you move on to something better. However, there are some decent chain rewards in this level range that you have a reasonable chance to get through just a single completion of the chain, and there are some other items that you might get while running quests you'd want to run anyway.

So, with that, here are my thoughts.

- the Sora Kell set (http://ddowiki.com/page/Wrath_of_Sora_Kell#Wrath_of_Sora_Kell)is pretty useful, the items drop frequently in the different quests, and the quests are fun and good XP in your range.

- the Cult of the Six chain (http://ddowiki.com/page/Cult_of_the_Six) is quick to complete and good XP for the time investment, and you get a good selection of items from the chain reward. I particularly like the Phantasmic Masque for Negative spell power on a non-weapon slot

- Gianthold items (http://ddowiki.com/page/Update_17_named_items): Gianthold is a great mid-level area for XP, so you'll probably run these quests several times. The Elfcraft robe is a good armor for a wizard, and not too hard to get. The Madstone Skull (http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Madstone_Skull) is an okay PM item too. The various caster staves that drop in Gianthold Tor are pretty good, too - not significantly better than a random Thaumaturgy staff, but guaranteed to have bonuses that are all relevant to an arcane caster. You can also probably find them available cheap in the Auction House.

- There are a few items that are worth farming, as they can be useful even in higher levels. Specifically the Twisted Talisman (http://ddowiki.com/page/Twisted_Talisman) in the Red Fens and the Ring of Spell Storing (http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Ring_of_Spell_Storing) in the Desert Wilderness. These are fairly rare drops (especially the Ring), but supposedly the drop rates have been increased recently. And these are good items for a wizard to have at any level.

Hope this was helpful.

- check out the following lists to see if the named items dropping in any of these areas are interesting to you
