Greetings

I plan to run an pure artificer heroic life soon but find myself with little knowledge about gear thats good specifically for artificers (x-bows in particular). I will be x-bow / caster - not melee.

I guess I should make a con-op sp GS item as well as a repeater GS x-bow, the SP Ioun Stone trinket (have that) and a set of swapable gear for trapskills at various levels.
Any other gear thats particularly good - named x-bows for example?

Any advice is very much appreciated.

I just posted this in another thread, https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/454398-Doors-reappearing?p=5513471&viewfull=1#post5513471

Also most the gear you see on my hotbars is L14-18 heroic stuff. Still good in epic till I hit 25. Also, allot of my gear is homemade in the crafting hall and good till L25 as well.

Since I was on the topic Wheloon in that other thread, I will post a screenie of a fun repeater I made for Friends in Low places. I love to give the lizard folk a hard time : ) )

In that other thread shot I'm wearing this cloak and will wear it to L25 as well:

The gloves on the far left hotbar are for trappin'

Tinker's Gloves (http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Tinker%27s_Gloves)
Gloves of Forgotten Craft (http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Gloves_of_Forgotten_Craft_%28Level_14%29)

For search I'm using the Treasure Hunter's Spyglass from Crystal Cove as a swapable trinket. I just put the L16 version in the bank now that I hit L20 and have the L20 version in my kit now. I swap this trinket with ioun stones and planars for when I need to search.

Scepters

I make allot of home made scepters at various levels to boost my spell power and spell crits. For example, the ones in this shot are used to boost Tactical Detonation, which is both fire and force spell power.

for x-bows to start i would recommend a crafted weapon for earliest levels.

Start with holy at lv 2 then add bleed. I like that better than the Named bow from 3BC.

Then maybe craft another at higher level with a red slot.

Greensteel is better than any named you will find IMO level 12+

Silver Slinger will prolly be something you will want.

I see you are Ghallanda. Post or PM me your characters name and I'll send you some unbound shards.

As an arti, you get more power from clickies. Mask of Comedy is nice if it lasts longer. Ring of Spell Storing IIRC restores more SP. I am sure there are other decent items: http://ddowiki.com/page/Category:Clicky_items

If you are just going for arty's PL then don't go overboard. GS weapons are GREAT from 12-24 or so especially a min2 or triple pos BUT just going to 20 to TR and you don't plan on doing more Arty stuff after a Holy Burst or Pure Good for general mobs is MORE then enough to solo to 20 with. You have some of the best weapon buffs in the game to add to it. Make a few other xbows for specific things (oozes come to mind) but the HB of PG is nice because you can make it silver or cold iron as needed to bypass DR.

Also get a few nice rune arms. Hand of the Tombs is my favorite to go from 9-16 and I even use after on some mobs but other options are available but that Hand of the Tombs is easy to get and has disruption built in.

The point is if its JUST for a PL then an Arty can get to 20 with a minimum of money spent on gear. if you have GS ing to blow then by all means get one it is super fun at 12 to have it. I would make a min2 personally but some prefer lit2 since you can cast your own DR breakers on it. I don't use triple pos a whole lot because I have the Hand of the Tombs to go with my xbow. Go pure Arty and keep your trapper skills up. Max your int and get dex high enough to make sure you can get imp precise shot when its available then put the rest into Con and no other stats matter really.

Enhancement points work toward Endless Fusillage and in the harper tree get int to hit and int to dmg to free up a couple spell slots. I REALLY prefer taking WF as my race for easy nice simple self healing.

Using those simple guidelines will EASILY get you to 20 either soloing or grouping and running all elite content on the way. Once you get a life under you then alter to your own style =)

Good luck.

And this is nice. you get longer duration from scrolls and clickies and more power from then. Great for blur/displace scrolls amongst other things.

Thats a very kind offer. However, I do have decent crafter myself (130+ in all three schools) so I should be ok :)

Thanks everyone for the advice.

You should definitely get the Spare Hand (Belt) http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Spare_Hand_(Level_11) if you plan to trap and the Ring of Master Artifice http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Ring_of_Master_Artifice_(Level_11) if you are WF or BF. Yes they require mats farming in House Cannith .... yes they are worth it!

And for GS repeater a Puddingbow is highly effective as well as just fun to watch!

The Oozinator AKA The Puddingator AKA Puddingbow AKA the most fun you can legally have with pudding:
http://perfectweb.org/ddo/crafting/base_crafting.php?base=27&tier1=10&tier2=80&tier3=188&tier4=190&bonus1=9&bonus2=35&altC=0

Trip Holy - Rips Orchard up
http://perfectweb.org/ddo/crafting/base_crafting.php?base=27&tier1=12&tier2=84&tier3=192&tier4=0&bonus1=21&bonus2=27&altC=0

Also MinII - but I find the the Oozinator out DPS's it.

Hand of the Tombs http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Hand_of_the_Tombs
The Disciplinator http://ddowiki.com/page/The_Disciplinator
Animus http://ddowiki.com/page/Animus

Hand can usually be found on the AH; Animus is in Devil Assault - and is BtA - and should be able to get while farming tokens and or seeds; The Disciplinator is a rare drop from VoN6.

But who can beat disruption or smiting or banishing as an imbue on your primary repeater?

Otherwise - LUCID DREAMS.

Ring of Master Artifice (especially if a toaster)
Ring of the Stalker (works on ranged)
bracers of Wind (blur plus massive bonuses on electrical spells)
Cloak of Flames (for your Turret)

Best mid-level docent (especially if force spec'd) Blue dragonscale docent.

For your Dog:
make sure it has heavy fort --- best low level docent: Bladesmark Docent: http://ddowiki.com/page/The_Disciplinator

If you have it - Treasure Hunter's Spyglass from crystal cove

Gloves of the Falcon / Gnoll Hide Gloves

Have fun!
