Hey all,

I am looking for a FvS THW build, and so far, I have had no luck finding the same. I certainly have no reservations about multiclassing.

After years of trying, I finally was able to build a eSoS and want to find a build that uses heavy blades. My pat lives have all been WF (arti x2 and Sorcx1), so I have the docets I need, but am not married to that race. This will also be a 36 point build with any +5 tomes I might need. My current GS weapons are repeaters, but I have more than enough mats for things like Posx3 stick or maul (any advise here), or any greatsword for leveling.

I assume I will hear that the builds, and the eSoS are outdated, but so am I. I remember when Pong came out. This is my second attempt at a healer type, the first being the very first build that everyone screws up. I am fairly slow at leveling as I TR about once per year.

Anyone have any thoughts for an old guy?

If you have Bladeforged, I would consider BF FvS 17 / pal 3: you lose lvl 9 spells and Haste, unfortunately, but gain Div Grace + defensive stance for a big boost to survivability, while still keeping wings and most of the goodies from FvS.

Ofc, a pure BF pally would be better melee DPS, but if your goal is "melee DPS+party healer," then FvS still works fine, IMHO.

This should work well in Div Crusader; in fact I might suggest shifting APs from WP into AoV, since Consecration should cause Scourge+Just Reward to proc, IIUC.

I do have access to Bladeforged, but have never tried to use it. Maybe a dumb question, but can I TR from my current life (at 24 now will grind to 28 and do the new EDs that I have not done yet) to BF? Measure twice cut once, so to speak.

I also appreciate the build you posted.

If you are currently not an Iconic, you can TR into one at any point after level 20.

If you are an Iconic, you need to level to Cap (currently level 28) to TR out of them.

One thing you can do, when I tried BF. I capped my human, ETR'd him grabbing an EPL then right after TR'd him into a BF.

As stated: non-Iconic races can HTR (http://ddowiki.com/page/Heroic_True_Reincarnation) any time after they hit lvl 20; Iconics must hit level cap to ITR (http://ddowiki.com/page/Iconic_True_Reincarnation). If you're playing a regular race and plan to work on your EDs first, consider ERing (http://ddowiki.com/page/Epic_Reincarnation) once (or more) for epic PL feat(s), then HTRing.

All good advice. Thanks. I am sure I will need to get some more regarding feats and enhancements. If I do TR to Bladeforged, I assume I start at 1 rather than 15, even for first time to BF.

Well like Unbonwah said I would consider a pure pally and be BF. If you are set on FvS they are fine...but pure Paladin built right is gonna be a monster in epics while a FvS will be ok.

And the ESoS is still the best weapon in the game until thunderforged fully built at 28.

Holy Sword + ESoS = Carnage

If I do TR to Bladeforged, I assume I start at 1 rather than 15, even for first time to BF.
Actually, all Iconics start with enough XP to level to 15 immediately, regardless of whether they're first-lifers or TRs. That's kinda the whole point to Iconics. :) You can choose not to level all the way to 15 if you want, but after creation, you can't exceed the regular XP-save cap; i.e., you won't get any XP from questing until you level to at least 14. You also don't receive your Iconic starter gear until you level to 15, but it's all ML:15 anyway, IIRC.

My build presumes you level to 15 right away; I wanted to start FvS 12 / pal 3 to have lvl 6 spells + SD defensive stance. If you plan to hold off on initial leveling, you may want to tweak the feat or class order.

I certainly don't need to include FvS, I just remember seeing the FvS classes as the ones swinging the eSoS. Of course, things have changed with new Pally tweaks, so I am open to pure. Again, thanks for the advice.

One more question. If I do TR to Bladeforged pure pally, will I start at 15th or at whatever level 1,050,000 xp gets you to on a 4th life?

You'll start at L15.

The build suggestion is a good one. If you have Harper you might find it advantageous to go INT based and use the Harper enhancements. The Harper bonuses to melee power and the ability to get eschew materials at no spell point cost shouldn't be overlooked. Of course, you have to go STR if you want DM. And, you don't need to take the INT choices.

Keep in mind that FvS gets spell checks based on WIS but spell points based on CHA. It makes stat decisions difficult since you'll probably want 4 stats, typically STR, CON, WIS, CHA on a paladin/favored soul. Of course, you don't have the build points to really min/max.
