Healing Guide

I know you have to be modest and not post your own thread, but I thought you put a lot of time into these informative videos and deserve your own thread with a sticky or constant bumps up on the Cleric forum here.

Now I watched some of the Cleric stuff about your Melee Cleric, but I have a few questions about your Melee part of your Melee Cleric.

Why no Cleaves and Momentum Swing especially on the 2hd builds like your Dwarf?
You can Twist it in with Sense Weakness.

I am sold on dump Amel Strike and Warpriest.

I am wondering why you took CLR15/PAL3/MNK2 and no FTR lvls on that build? Is Evasion better than FTR Haste for EE I suppose?
Lots say Evasion is gimps now with MRR and PRR gear.

PAL3 no Exalted Smite?

I am almost sold on taking less than CLR17, but I just think the lvl30 end game might require Mass Heal again. I am tired of always rebuilding when the Devs mix things up. I guess I see them some how making the old CAP raids playable again... because it makes common sense and they were a lot of fun dam it.

Devs you hear that!!!

If you go CLR15 why not CLR13 and more Melee lvls? Are the lvl8 spells useful and I suppose if you take Aura you cant get FTR5 tier anyway.

If I respect thinking CLR15/PAL3/FTR2, but it is human and not dwarf.

Again PAL3 no Exalted Smite?

Oh wow that's a lot to answer.

First of all, the 15 cleric / 3 pally / 2 monk build was prior to the heavy armor changes. I've since TR'ed out of it. Now with the heavy armor buff I'm running in full plate instead of using evasion and I've since changed my build to 15 cleric / 4 pally / 1 fighter. I'm going to post an in detail thread and youtube video sometime fairly soon going over my build (I've already written it up, it's long).

I do have cleaves on my build. I use cleave, great cleave and strike down. As far as Momentum Swing - it's tempting but I can't justify spending a twist slot on it. It's buggy, animation is slow and it's only single target. It's just not practical for my playstyle either - I already have 3 cleaves I'm cycling through, not much room for a 4th in combat ability to mash. If they ever un-nerf blitz to make it useful for THF I might run in LD again, in which case I'd use it instead of strike down.

As far as Warpriest - I'm not a fan. I personally don't think any melee cleric should use it as their main tree. I did a video on it recently explaining why -

Exalted Smite I don't use for a few reasons. It's not that it's not a good ability, I just prefer spending the APs elsewhere - and I'm already overloaded with buttons to mash in combat. I like going T4 in Sacred Defender instead for the improved defender stance bonuses.

As for why I don't go lower than 15 cleric...I don't find the benefits of splashing lower and giving up level 8 spells worth it for my build. As you said, I can't take higher than T4 anyway as Radiant Servant is my T5. I have all the feats I need so another fighter level isn't needed, and I already have a high divine grace cap (when nerf goes into effect) so more pally levels isn't that useful either.

Glad you are enjoying the videos on my youtube channel and finding them useful - I appreciate you watching.

While I agree with some of your points, as a completionist pure class battle cleric, I can solo heal Deathwyrm and often lead the kill count - and I use warpriest.
You bashed a lot on ameliorating strike as a poor raid healer. Absolutely. That's not how it's to be used. Your bursts/auras are very limited (even with regen they come back too slowly). With all 6 core abilities you have +30 light/fire spell power (30% extra damage). When you apply that damage to a fully loaded consecration circle (for both damage and healing) plus an extra heal burst every 15 seconds from 'ammy strike' you seldom need to cast a heal spell (and you sill have that back-up burst if needed). Plus ammy strike has a lesser restoration attached to it for free. Ina consecration circle that's 200+ healing to (most) allies (hamp dependant) and 200+ fire and good damage every couple of seconds (adds up fast).
You're looking at the warpriest tree alone. I agree it could use some tweaks (divine power should be a divine bonus so it stacks). Divine intervention is very useful - gives you that extra couple of seconds to heal the tank that failed a save (for example). The enhancement bonus to a weapon applies to both to-hit and damage (not sure why you implied it wasn't a damage booster). Inflame (and it trees) - meh needs love. The awareness is way out of place- a trapper cleric will have awareness from the rogue tree and it needs to be replaced.
Over all it's not as bad as you make it out to be if you use it properly with the EDs and don't view it with tunnel vision. Again- it could use tweaking, but I can solo EE as a pure class cleric in warpriest/divine crusader... (one the other hand - maybe it is that bad and I'm just that good to compensate for it...)(a joke BTW).

It's OK to disagree, everyone has their own opinions - what I say in the video just happen to be mine as a long time cleric player myself :D I know that others may feel differently and I respect that.

I disagree with a lot of your thoughts here but I think I've already done a good enough job giving my opinion in the video so I won't bother mostly repeating myself in a long forum post.

I believe I am finally getting better at it. However, the chances of me failing another concentration check when saying that word in the future seems high :D

'fails concentration check while saying 'Ameliorating' and gains 100 stacks of maximized, empowered divine punishment from angry deity...'

It is a shame Amel Strike is buggy. It is also 2w with the healing but might be overhealing.

Infame also is area effect and a nice buff for the party. 1 minute duration would make it worth it for sure.

You are already invested some in the Pally trees. It would not take much to get exalted smite. Adrenaline with Exalted Smite would be massive guaranteed criticals. Smites regen too.

But hey....

the good thing about me going clr15 pal3 will be that the day after turbine revamps the old raids needing mass heal again. I should take one for the team.
