My brother wants to start playing DDO with me, he's a never played DDO before or even an MMO before. I'm going to be duoing with him - I'm debating between playing a caster cleric, caster favored soul or caster druid. He wants to be a melee, and I suggested pally as that way he won't be dependent on hirelings or me for healing.

I'm just looking for a simple DPS pally build. Probably pure pally so he's not confused - and likely THF so he doesn't have to worry about hitting DEX requirements for TWF or balance requirements for SHF.

I've never played pally so I don't know any good builds - any help would be appreciated. Also note my brother is going to be free to play and won't have access to any premium/VIP races or features.

Thanks!

It's a little outdated now imo with the recent changes to MRR and PRR, but EllisDee's Evasion Paladin for new players (https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/422682) is still the best new player paladin build on the forums imo.

Or if you're dead set on pure. Here's a Pure paladin (I recommend wearing Heavy armor)

Eventually the 4ap that I've put into the Harper tree won't be needed, but whilst your friend is new I think the +6 jump (effectively) and +3 intim that it grants him will be very noticeable.

Vanguard build with shield is definitely better for a new player. Similar DPS and *much* tankier.
