Reincarnation can be all well and good when everything goes right, but sometimes you bump your head a few times along the way and can't remember exactly what it is you're supposed to be doing. In this case, our cleric friend has forgotten that clerics are not trappers, and has rolled up as a Shadar-kai trapping cleric.

I highly recommend that nobody uses this build, as it is not efficient and is definitely not what you should do with a cleric.

With that out of the way, I'm doing it anyway. Behold: A cleric that might not explode trap boxes simply by standing near them.

The plan is to use quarterstaves to remain centered while in ocean stance (or wind stance while picking locks), it has evasion but reflex is seriously lacking. Some twists might help this. Offensively, I plan on playing similarly to an evoker. Blade Barrier DC should be okay with the sorcerer lives, even if wisdom is just 'okay'. I haven't rolled a trapper since U12, so I have no idea how hard the DCs are to hit for search/disable on elite, but the Find Traps spell should help with search, and tools probably will help with disabling (hopefully). I won't pretend that this is an amazing build, but if anyone has anything they'd suggest while keeping the same concept in mind (and it has to be Shadar-kai, iconic past life!), I'm open to suggestions.

Not sure if the tomes a level early is going to mess things up. At most it'd be -2 heal from late int tomes.

Because level 1 rogues with 18 base int get way too many skill points.

Should work out OK, at least for Search, as long as you have some gear. My Cleric is not at all a trapping build, and has zero Search ranks, but between Find Traps and a skill item, I can often find trap boxes, even in EE.

Looks like a fun build but....

I don't even know where to start ....

drop Open lock to the 4 points at level one you really don't need more (get +5 tools and best +OL item so slot in), ... try to drop your skill points overall, like Search with access to the "find traps" spell you really don't need to max it.
only skills you will need max are DD, Umd, Spelcraft, heal? put one point in perform(clrc gets sonic spells) and tumble to unlock them put some points into balance/jump, spot is only needed if you really don't know where the traps are and even then it is hard to get it up high enough unless you waste a gear slot or already have a best in slot item that has spot on it.

drop your INT and invest in DEX/STR for better saves/dmg I think 14 int would be enough. this will give you 10pts to spend elsewhere. increase con to 14? would be my minimum but that is me.

look if you really need the 2 levels of rogue maybe better to go 2monk instead for an extra feat, although this might give you to little skillpts .....


I am not really clear on what you are trying to make .. caster trapper ? or want some melee for SP conservation ?

hope this helps getting more out of your character.

Edit: drop one toughness for mental toughness since it will give you +% crit nowadays

I'd had bad luck finding traps in the past and didn't want to take any risks skimping on search or disable. I don't plan on meleeing anything, so Str wouldn't help. Dex might help for reflex. I could swap two rogue for 2 monk--little harder to distribute skill points that way though.

I can't drop either toughness for mental toughness because one is at first level (Shadar-kai, has to be rogue, can't take mental toughness) and the other is a monk bonus feat.

Edit: UMD is a good idea though, I'll consider that!

Also, Find Traps is only +8 to search (Or +11 in a divine ED).

Lightning Reflexes/Insightful Reflexes is actually a really good idea. That would keep me from having to stat dex at all, and I didn't even consider how useful GMoF flower stuff would be with this build, as I was still thinking like an evoker. Main reason I want a staff over handwraps is because

1) Staves can have Impulse and Devotion (the two spell powers I want)
2) I happen to have a twilight stick (Upgraded to tier 2, and a +3 insightful wis trinket to go with it) <<

I like heighten for Blade Barrier DC mostly. Stunning fist is an intresting idea I'll have to consider. I don't actually plan to play this build at 28 (TRing immediately at 28), so any ED feat would have to be the level 26 one.

Let me look into GMoF though!

This is similar to a build I have been playing going back to when shroud was endgame.
I currently run it as a Human 17Cleric/2Rogue/1Monk Epic-Grandmaster
It is an effective build..
Self buffed +95 search/Disable and run all endgame epic elite content with no-fail disabling.
You will be heavily gear dependant.. so have lots of inventory space for swapping gear

My starting Stats were
STR 8
Dex 12
Con 16
Int 14
Wis 17
Cha 11


I didn't take any Forms, opted for Dragonmark of passage, Enlarge
Monk Feat - Deflect Arrows
Epic Feats Epic Toughness, Mental toughness, Ruin, Elusive Target

Enhancmemnt:
Primary - Radiant Servant for Aura/Burst
Secondary - Divine Disiple for wis / sp reduction
Warpriest for HP & dr 5/-
Rogue Acrobat- Staff & attack speed
Monk Ninja Acrobatic +3 dodge

Weapon of choice - Sireth for for DPS, Alchemical Kama/Thunder forged Kama for casting.

Melee damage is average at best, is primarialy for building Ki.

UMD is optional you can already heal/resurrect...I have UMD on my build, but find I don't generally have a need for it, my clickies cover me.
