Please just let anyone past level 20 group with whoever in level 20-28 content.

It bugs me that I can't join my friends and fellow puggers as say level 21 if they're like 23 to 25 and starting on Stormhorns EHs. I can't see why I shouldn't be able to join them if I have a full ED and twists going.

The greater problem(s):
- Grouping = building community because you get to chat and interact.
- We are spread out over many more levels than ever before and we have populations shrinking and you are making grouping more difficult. You already have penalities to power leveling to stop xp abuse and has been commented elsewhere most of the power from 20 - 28/30 comes from the ED and twists, and not the epic levels.
- And partying through content makes it much easier. By reducing partying opportunities you are forcing more and more of us to solo. And for me that's not as much fun. It would be a hoot going through some of this stuff as fresh level 20s in a full group.

Also
- it's an easy way of offering a challenge to those who need it. Not everyone is going to take it up though. It opens up more content to choose from.
- We're already stopped from grouping with lower level people so that we can chat even if we are not questing together - you did that to stop a 'naughty thing'. Why can't we find another way around this so that we can build community by grouping even if not questing? It is one of the huge strengths of DDO from the bits I've seen of other MMOs. All these little changes erode this.

We used to be able to be able to play with our epic level friends and fellow end game puggers when we hit 20 or even 25. It was about fishing our gear out of our TR cache and joining the end game community. And there was the challenge jump of epic level content. Everyone was in those levels so there were a lot of groups to join when you got there. There was that sense of getting there and joining that community.
But now we have to wait around to level 25 or so before we can finally join them in everything they are running. So there is a whole lot of end game we can't group with them any more. Also there are some things some would like to attempt earlier for the challenge. The spread out grouping makes it feel like there are less things that you can join and less of an end game community. Even if you have adequate gear and can contribute to a group you are prevented from doing so by this limit.
We would like it to change so that we can have a challenge for those who want it and more grouping opportunities for end game content. This would allow for more of a sense of community by allowing grouping.

What do others think?

I'd prefer if all level restrictions were removed; doing things like this (http://imgur.com/BKZoWKF.jpg) was quite fun and is no longer even possible to attempt.

I agree.

I think that the level restrictions are a huge negative on keeping the community and friends actively together in DDO.

Within my guild and large circle of friends it causes issues when someone might be working on a new TR, or we get a fresh new player into DDO that actively wants to be in a group. Not everyone can group together with so many players working on different characters (or our favorite and only main character), that are spread across so many levels. It seems even worse on the PickUpGroup side of things as looking for groups in your level range has been murderously difficult lately.

Actually, it does seem even worse for the new players we've seen lately, and also some old returning guildies that have been away for years. It's just doggedly hard to group with people that are starting somewhat fresh or that have their old characters coming into the guild at level 14ish.

All of this is the current scene in game, I can't even imagine how awful it could become if we look at adding in more restrictions as 30 becomes the new level cap.

I agree with you, a character with a Maxed Destiny at level 20 is "fairly equal" to a level 25 without a Maxed Destiny.

Yes, I agree. DDO went the right path to make epic BB level range +4 instead of +2 like heroics. I annoys me when I am level 23 and can't join a level 28 (on E) quest. Also, VIPs have a higher range to enter quests...

I'd prefer if all level restrictions were removed; ....

That^^.

...but it will never happen cuz of the abuses of power-leveling.

This is why I want tighter level requirements. Imagine if you could only run each quest 1 time? You would have to do all the content to cap. And all the loot you should ever be able to need would have to drop for you.

LOL

Seriously, I think the level restrictions should be harsher, not looser. But that is my biased, no one runs at my level, opinion.

I'm not following you. Can you expand?

Personally, and I suspect that I'm not alone in this, I find keeping up an elite bravery streak with some quests is quite challenging and I will occasionally jump into pugs when under level on my 6th TR to try and get certain quests done as certain quests done as a group suddenly become much, much easier.

So you're saying if you made the levels even tighter than they are now, my level 12 couldn't get that Crucible done with a level 15? Or, if I wasn't going for XP as that is already managed by power leveling I could pike an Amrath - but you can only pick up the quest at 16 (although I got in at 15 once I coudlnt' pick up the quest and didn't get any favour).

Or you're just saying if you had the ability to solo it, and you got in, you could happily get say Genesis done on elite on your level 10 and get max xp?

What I am mostly discussing here is questing in epics - that is over level 20.

And particularly I am trying to get at the loss of community when it is not possible for pugs or friends or guildies to join in questing together. So they can't get into Stormhorns on their level 21s - not due to story or quest progression but simply because of a level restriction. Now if you're awesome... and I know someone who has done this... you can go solo those at level 23 EE... but sadly no matter how awesome you are you can't do so at level 22 due to a level restriction.

Your concern is that you feel that those level 22 players who have the ability to do so ( or level 21, or 20) would do those Stormhorns quests and get uber xp... er, really fast? (Apparently the person I know who did this took hours but they had a lot of fun challenging themselves). Can I suggest to you that it wouldn't be faster? Can I suggest to you that actually, most players when their specific xp goal is fast xp to level up faster are going to do (like I did recently) a ton of quick and dirty EHs flagging for everything and grabbing saga xp and only if the opportunity presents itself and there are solid people to group with do the EEs (because very good players will continue EEs if not necessarily BB with certain party members being maybe slightly overlevel).

So if you made level restrictions tighter, then people would not be able to group as much even more than now. And the lfm panel even more fragmented (if at all). Would like to understand more if you care to expand.
