Hi guys!

So I'm a PermaDeath player. That's what I love in this game and it's where my focus will stay. I have an Epic PD character, and some near-Epic PD characters; but I've noticed that when running with my guild we tend to do things fast and efficiently. I realized that I really have no idea what the plotline of many major quests is. So I've decided to roll up a character who will be able to solo heroic content, probably on Normal. The goal is to have a fun build that can get through Heroic content; I might respec when I hit 20, or see how well it works. My goal is not Elite Raids, nor is it EE runs; I want to take things slow, on my own or with a few friends. So, I came up with a TWF Elf Wizard. The build starts out using spells and a rapier until it picks up Weapon Finesse, when it switches over to two rapiers; later DPS should explode upwards when I pick up Dex to Damage. I'll rely on Master's Touch while leveling in Pale Master until I start picking up EK enhancements, eventually dropping the spell when I gain proficiency. Also, I will be running around in light or later medium armor.

Without further ado, here is the build:

Been thinking about some modifications... What if I trade starting Dex for Int, put level-ups into Int, and go much less deep into EK in order to pump up PM? I should end up with more SP, good DCs, and enough SP to actually cast Transformation when needed; my melee shouldn't suffer THAT much, should it? Could also go a bit into Archmage for free Web, which could be nice?

If you are permadeath think about Insightful Reflexes as early as possible. Maybe even Monk or Rogue levels.

If you want EDK consider whether you can drop any thought of offensive spells which have saves, and maybe consider Fighter levels for more Feats.

If you want to go pure, Insightful Reflexes is still very good if you are stacking Intelligence. Then you dont really need Dex. Divine Power clickies will be helpful for Melee.

Or, go down the PM line which gives good defence, good offence, and good self-"healing".

It is up to your playstyle too--you could become a stealthy infiltrator, in which case you would want to be Dex based--if solo, maybe rogue levels for traps and chests--you could do a stick version with acrobat rogue 2, monk 6 wiz 12 but the wraith form wouldn't appear until later levels. You could even do assassin/pale master 6/12 or some other split, throwing in some fighter or other levels and focus on daggers and kukris with dex--that would be fun--or rogue 14/vampire stealthy play and still get an ok assassinate since it is for heroic normal quests. So many fun options when you are not stressing out about being uber

While I play PD normally, the point of this build is to have a normal character who I can solo or pug on when my guildmates are away. So I'm not too worried about ridiculous survivability, though I won't say no to Insightful Reflexes... maybe I can fit that in later on. Dunnu about a dip though... Rogue trapping is nice, but so are 9th level spells at 17. I can bring a rogue friend for quests that must disable traps.

I wouldn't dip for more than 2 levels total... was considering rogue dip but dex to damage is level 3, which is a bit steep when I can get it on a pure wiz through Elf. Plus duel rapiers areCooler than daggers. And ap is in very short supply with 21 in PM and 40 in EK. I was planning on using selfbuffs and no save spells, yes. Stuff like Scorching Ray, or effects that are nasty even if a save is made.

Actually, a 17/3 sssplit with Rogue and q-staff should mean: 6 ap for to hit and damage from dex to staves saving a feat on weapon finnesse; 31 ap for lich; 31 for tenser's; and the rest in acrobat to buff quarteestaff damage. Could work? And quarterstaff is good for cleave...

Also to help with the lower level heroics, you can use Souleater--it heals if you are in undead form. You can sometimes find it on the AH. At least until the TWF chain really kicks in at later levels

I've actually been working on a build really similar to this, the thread has been getting some pretty good traffic so I've gotten a lot of input from other people and think I'm really close to a pretty strong build if you want to check it out here (https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/435540-Eldritch-Monk-It-s-my-first-build-so-I-d-love-some-advice!?p=5242024&posted=1#post5242024)

Also any input you would have would be great, thanks :]

Looks good, but my thoughts are that you need to take Toughness at lvl 1, as opposed to Extend. In a melee-focused mage, HP are kinda important.

Likewise, as someone else mentioned, Insightful Reflexes are mighty nice too. if you stick with DEX, INT, and CON as your main attributes you should be fairly well off.

Addendum:

You get bonuses for shields. Why not go with that as opposed to TWF?

It would not work. You cannot get the Lich form with only 17 wizard levels. Requires 18 Wiz

Actually, you wouldn't want Lich, only Wraith (Wiz 12, 21AP). So np there...
