View Full Version : Turn Undead bug.

My main is currently a level 10 Cleric, and has 3 Cleric past lives and Turn-boosting gear & enhancements, and so has a fairly effective Turn Undead.

However, I've noticed a bug with Turn Undead: when I have a very large crowd on undead around me, and use Turn Undead, it works, and destroys lots of them; however, any that remain become effectively immune to future uses of Turn Undead. If the first Turn destroyed half of them, great, but a 2nd Turn will do absolutely nothing at all.

If I hard-target a single undead, Turn will work on it. And Turn will still work on any undead that were not in range of previous uses.

But it's really annoying when 2 uses of Turn ought to be able to wipe out a bunch of undead, but after I got half of them with the first, the rest are untouchable.

I did bug-report this, too.

Have no idea if its WAI but I do know that if a particular undead resisted your turn in pnp it was immune to your turns now unless you gained a level or turning power in someway

I agree completely with the OP - I have observed exactly the same behavior. But in terms of your comment - no, I disagree with you strenuously.

If I have say 10 IDENTICAL zombies around me, and roughly half - that seems to be roughly the case - that are turned via the 1st attempt, then I would naturally expect that half survived the dice rolls and half of remnant will be turned on the second attempt.

That's not what happens, though. As the OP suggests, multiple repeated turns fail. It have nothing to do with resistance, since we're talking about identical opponents. My lvl 28 morninglord has all the turn boosts I can get, decent charisma, plus 3 different enhancements via gear and spells... I should be annihilating the mobs in epic content (EH typically)...it's not working.

Yes that was the rule in PnP BUT in PnP TU was MUCH stronger than it is in DDO {An Epic Cleric would annihilate pretty much any none special Undead and it was only numbers that made lesser Undead a danger to said Cleric!}.

In DDO TU has to be maxed out at each level to be viable at turning ANY undead!
Numbers aren't the issue!

However: I've noticed this bug - It's been around for 3 or 4 Updates now!
And basically there's a timer been added somehow that gives any mobs that survived the original attempt immunity for a short period - Make sure the Graphic has gone away AND wait a couple more seconds before you hit TU again and they'll go pop just like the first bunch!

Oh as an addendum to this thread can Flower and Fayden pls be given the enhancement/feat bonuses to make their Turns viable in at lvl Elite Content {either that or change the ability to Radiant Aura!}.

And by viable I mean DESTROY not STUN!

Pft. How long does the "stun" from TU last? A lot longer than any other "stun" effect, iirc. It's not that big an issue unless you are by yourself.

I'm of the mind that hirelings should not be able to get the job done at level in elite content. Be they clerics turning or rogues getting traps.

If you want to run elite bring your A game .
Hirelings are not A game.

Rogue Hires are elite capable {well most of them} at level for traps.

Cleric Hires that have TU on their bars should be able to turn undead in elites {and yes Turn Undead means destroy not stun!}.
At the moment Flower can't even TU at all in Elite at Lvl content {her DC isn't even high enough to stun anything which means that ability is worthless!}.

And that Stun affect lasts a while but it's by no means permanent and for a newbie Rogue {who's the most likely player to want to use Flower for this ability} it's possible to not be able to kill them before they wake up {especially if only a couple were turned out of a bunch as considering Flower's DCs is highly likely!}.
She also doesn't seem to have the full complement of Turns she should have still.

Fayden's TU is even worse!

Fighter Hires should be able to intim in Elite as well {another change I'd like to see!}.

If you want to be Elitist go back to playing End-Game only and leave the rest of us alone!
