You should make a new race being undead for all classes.
Wizard's shouldn't be the only class allowed to go undead.
Makes the game more interesting, adding items for undead only and make soloing harder because healing in undead would be harder (not being a wizard)

Just an idea

Couple problems...

-Undead is not a race, its a condition. Every undead maintains characteristics of whatever they were before death, so you'd have to define an undead what...
-Undead are generally evil. Exceptions, yes, but you're harder pressed to justify an entire race than just one Doomsphere
-True Undead do not have Constitution. That would create problems for a lot of systems.
-There is way too few sources of Negative "damage" if you're not a true caster class.
-Would make grouping way more difficult than it already is. PMs can, at least, turn off their shroud and just go caster mode in groups. WF can still get 50-80% benefit from Divine heals. True undead would be unhealable, making them essentially pariahs in group content.
-Undead cannot be Raised when killed, and Resurrecting them returns them to their original pre-death state.

Some valid points, but not this one, really. This RAISES the number of primary caster classes that can heal you from 3 to 4. Lose Druid, gain Wiz and Sorc.

I can just see the undead Barbs now: "Hey, Sorc, what you do you mean you don't have Negative Energy Burst? Clueless noob! Hjeal me!" Let the Wiz and Sorc feel the idiocy the Clr and FvS already have to put up with.

First being raised is solved by the arcane spell "Create undead"
Second It is healable with a sorc/wiz in party using negative energy spells, or clerics/FVS using inflict wounds.
Third Undead do have constitution, otherwise how do you explain hitting them many times as a NPC?
Fourth Grouping isn't difficult if you are a good player not a gimp
Fifth Aren't players already evil or chaotic? Why would that matter.
Sixth yes it is a condition, and it be made to only be undead after you TR, being raised as a undead version of the class you were last life.
-Point proven. :)

First, that's not a spell that can target players
Second, yes, a PM can heal you, but they're the only ones (who slots Inflict? Or plays a necro sorc?), and most of them probably wont be thinking about healing undead, they'll be thinking about DPS, they're arcanes...
Third, no they don't. They have HP, but no Con: http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/SRD:Undead_Type
Fourth, no, it'll make grouping tough. Healers are just going to see someone losing health, and will waste blue bar trying to heal you before they realize you're undead. PMs at least heal themselves. And its not a good class design if you say "well its only good if YOU'RE good" :P
Fifth, chaotic yes, evil no. And we cant have Evil characters, as a design choice. Chaotic doesn't mean Bad, it just means reckless - but Evil is, you wouldn't be welcome in Stormreach and you wouldn't be allied with all the NPCs that drive the story.
Sixth, I could see a FR Drow Necromancer Iconic class (with a souped-up Shroud of Undeath skill) a little more realistically than a true undead class or Iconic. Its not really a True Resurrection if you come back as undead, after all, is it? :)
-QED :P

I've always been of the Opinion that the Undead are abominations and shouldn't be available to Player Characters unless those Players are in the World of Darkness!

BUT

There is One Undead Type that may allow for PCs in DDO - Wights!

Wights have never been like other Undead:

Skeletons and Zombies = Brainless Automatons.
Ghouls and Ghasts are Humans who became Undead having performed particularly Heinous acts in Life.
Wraiths and Spectres were once alive.
Ghosts are Spirits doomed to repeat past actions {just laying eyes on one ages you from 10-40 years!}.
Vampires - No this isn't Buffy! Just Say No to Angels and Spikes!
Mummies and Liches are Utterly and Irrevocably Evil! {Certain Elven Baelnorns not withstanding as these are entirely different!}.

Wights however....

It's quite possible for DDO Lore to allow Wights to be an actual race that simply has Undead Traits and an affinity for the Undead {Not unlike Shadar-Kai in fact}. {They would however still Have the weaknesses of an Undead {Light, Bane, Disruption, Turnable - Though NOT by Allies or In Public Areas EXCEPT Mabar}.

undead have constitution 0 in D&D. And that's the way it is.
