Since there's a new Stone of XP out, it got me thinking of some other possible unique ways to implement the "stone of XP" type of item...

Minor Stone of Experience
Grants you as much XP as it takes to advance to your next level.

It always grants the amount it takes to get from no-XP-progress to the next level, flat rate...ie, you don't "lose out" if you've already gained some progress towards the next level, it just bumps you up to level X with the same amount of "extra" XP towards level X+1.

They'd be available from the store (naturally), but also occur in rare drops and daily dice, about the same rarity as Tomes.

They'd be tradable, and usable at any level 1-20, so there'd be an economy around them, and it wouldn't be "wasted" when you find one on high-level toons.

Since the game is starting to accelerate the level gains as the cap goes up more and more, especially through Heroic levels, I think these would be a nice additional bonus. Especially for those levels everyone hates, 19 and 20. Plus, since they drop in-game, its not as completely P2W as store-only Stones.

Sounds like something that would be great to sell for astral shards from an ingame vendor. Actually, I was thinking the same thing about the Bigby's Box as well. I don't think the shard exchange and daily dice are enough incentive to get people caring about the currency right now. Add a high profile item like this for a static amount of astral shards and you might get people interested. Turbine seems afraid to advance to the next step with astral shards right now for some reason.

Until astral shards drop from chests or quest reward lists, I still consider them a P2W currency. Really, there's little difference between TP and AS, except you can use AS on the ASAH.

The huge difference to me is that I've earned well over 3000 AS without spending a dime in the store. (wow that sounded like a spambot line there ;) ) They are available in game. You just have to work the shard exchange resource in order to obtain them from people with way too much money and way too little time.

I do agree that without some other purpose, AS are just like a weaker from of TP that you can't spend on much.

Excellent Idea! This would not compete for the Otto's boxes either, so it doesn't hurt nerfbine. As far as the Bigby's boxes go - they suck! Bring back the Otto's Nerfbine!
