I have created a workaround for this problem it was posted and linked back to in various posts but I think this needs it own thread.

Instructions:
This patch is a self extracting rar it is a silent installation it extracts the files directly in to the default installation folder.
If you did a custom install you can either extract it with WinRAR or go the default folder and move the files by hand.
The default installation path : C:/ProgramFiles/Turbine/DDO Unlimited(Preview).
The files contained within the patch are nothing more then the latest known working launcher files.
The download it self is hosted by media fire you may notice a lot of ads on the download page be sure you look carefully for the real download link in the box with the mediafire logo and the file name.
I think this about covers any problems users have experienced so far.
Side notes : I've personally been able to extract and completely patch the client in place on my desktop. I have also created a copy for DDO live.

Thanks for posting this information.

One question, is there any way to change the default installation path? My c:/ is a small ssd that functions as a boot drive with room for some mission critical programs including DDO. I dont have room for anything else. As I mentioned in this post http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=415242 , I cannot actually install anyplace useful, like my secondary drive that has 100s of gigs of space.

It is pretty sad the lammania install process does not ask where to install the program. What a PITA!!

Choose custom install.

I installed on my dedicated games drive array.

installation of this patch wont cost any additional space as it just replaces the existing files with updates ones that work.
you could simply extract the package on your storage drive and run the launcher allowing it to patch it should have no problems patching to full.
