It's always tough on a Monk.

Especially Light Monks. They just don't really have a dump stat.

Personally I don't like dropping CHA below 10, due to the Light Monk abilities (and I always build for some UMD), but I'm in the fortunate position of having +4 Tomes in all stats which helps considerably. With only +2's available on the whole I'm not seeing any glaring problems with the build.

It might be worth considering Cleric Dilli rather than Rogue Dilli. The Rogue Dilli gives you access to some Sneak Attack damage while the Cleric Dilli gives access to Heal Scrolls. Depends on what difficulty you end up playing on and what your playstlye is, but it's something to think about.

I'm not understanding why you're spending points on Hide and Move Silently though. They offer nothing to a Light Monk and those points might be better spent elsewhere.

Oh and why Tortoise? Just the extra HP?

Your build is missing void 4.

I have a helf light monk currently in his 2nd life. He rocks. Hard.

Some suggestions based on doing this twice.

1) take Cleric dillie. Scrolls and wands for healing for the win. the SA damage from Rogue dillie is nice, but i found overall survivability to be more better.
2) you're wis based, take level ups in wis. the +2 dex tome at level 7 will be enough to get ITWF and G***. you want as much wis as you can get because your light monk strengths need wis.
3) I would not take power attack on a toon with low STR. I took precision for the hit bonus and fort reduction. Power attack, especially at low levels, will take away some hits.

It's not a bad build, and I can see it goes a little against "Conventional wisdom" shown on the forums. Some thoughts:

* I'm missing why you choose Rogue dilettante, too. Sneak attack damage is OK, but Cleric dillys are popular for extra self-healing of yourself and others in a pitch.
* A little more Balance isn't a bad idea.
* You have the right amount of Hide/Move Silently for most builds that aren't Ninja Spies. Ignore the naysayers: This is a good way to traverse areas where fighting is a bore and takes up time, or when you need to sneak or die (such as against invisibility-seeing giants and beholders). Use items to boost this further as the situation requires it.
* Diplomacy really is a good stat to have for several quests to avoid a fight, get a special optional, and more.
* Going Grandmaster of two elements isn't bad: Wind for speed and doublestrike, and Ocean for increased saves and Dodge and ki regeneration. But I agree with others in that, if you take more than Void Strike I, you should go all the way to the powerful Void IV, which means you'll need to leave one of these GMs behind. If I had to choose, I'd keep Ocean: your extra WIS will help all around.
* Tumble: One point in this will give you a 4 minimum score. You could spend the points there elsewhere, like in a couple of points in Intimidate. Your Threat won't be that much as a Monk, but it's not a bad idea to make that skill positive so that any effects you wear to keep mobs centered on you a little bit actually work with a little reliability.
* Archangel666 is right: Light Monks really need to keep an all-around good ability scores for the high-level flourishes come Level 18 or so. Use CHA tomes when you find them to help with two abilities later: Shining Star finisher (1-target Otto's dancing ball; nice in the Shroud) and Kukan-Do (remote stun; a good lead for Quivering Palm). Also, INT should be considered up to 13 for Combat Expertise for more AC. Did you know that the 10% AC bonus stacks with Grandmaster of Mountain's 20% bonus to a 30% AC bonus in that stance? I have a Monk that sits at 100 AC, unbuffed.
* Always mind your saves, especially Reflex. Your DEX is good but get your Reflex to 40 or better as you move into Epic territory.

It looks good. I have the same feat options for my main character. Not sure why you put point in hide and move silently. I was putting points in jump and balance.

@ rayworks
Power attack is still worth it .
Strength can be : base 18 + 8 item + 3 insight + 1 exc +2 rage +2 ship +2 yogo pot = 36 strength (+2 nether grasps+4 tome = 40 strength).
With grave wrapping improved destruction , he will rarely see misses. That is at end game , you are right on that.

@ Spencerian
Combat expertise is nice while tanking . I was thinking of swapping impr. sunder for CE , but when grave wrappings proc I hit with IS and then quivering palm and 60% of the time , it works.

Hey everyone-

Thanks for the good suggestions. Wanted to reply back with a couple of things-

Power Attack- I don't plan on having PA on a lot in the lower levels (I'll be starting at level 7) but it is a prereq for both Cleave and Imp Sunder, both of which I kind of want. I stared at precision for a while, but in the end PA won out.

Rogue vs Cleric dilli- I went Light Monk and all of the power amps for the self healing it provided, so I was hoping to avoid having to go Cleric dilli for heal scrolls. I don't plan on taking this toon into too much Epic stuff, mostly looking for Heroic leveling, but I'm ok going Cleric dilli over Rogue if it's just that much better.

Combat Exp- Not looking to get my int up to 13 for CE, stat points are starved enough on a 32 point light build monk, I'm not a tank, I can accept that.

Void 4- Yeah, that's my bad, it was late. I was hoping to get two master stances, but I can live with one. That also segues into..

Stats- I originally added a point into STR and a point into DEX to get both of those to 18, unlocking air and fire if I wanted to go that route. Swapping enhancements around only really lets me snag one, so I've changed the rest of my skill ups to WIS (capping both STR and DEX at 17 until +3 tomes can be wrangled up). I also threw in +2 CHA tome at 7, for funs.

Skills- I went hide/move silently mostly for personal preference, I have other stealthy characters and monk caters to that. With the 40 point jump cap, I'm not looking to push Jump up very high. What's a good level to get balance to, I've never used it on a character before, besides making sure it's not negative. Finally, again since stat points are an issue, I'm not looking at UMD, both my cha and int are low and UMD is a cross class skill... I love me some UMD, but on characters that synergize with it better!

Thank you all for your feedback, this was great!

EDIT: Clarification!

I like the build as is.

Between hamp and FoL, cleric dilettante is not crucial.

You are just slightly shy of Vorpal Strikes' 23 Wis req, but there's always TRing even if you can't manage a +3 Wis tome by then.

Power Attack v. Precision is a very difficult decision. However, you need PA for IS, so it's a really really good idea to get PA. You can also drop Cleave for Precision and still satisfy your Shintao pre-req. Synthesis: we take both.

It is a puzzle to get exactly to Void 4 and GM everything you want. Let's work backwards.

80 AP
-2 Serenity (74 req)
= 78 AP
-4 Void 4 (68 req)
= 74
-2 Shintao 3 (66 req)
= 72
-4 GM something (64 req)
= 68
-4 GM something else (64 req)
= 64

So we need to fit in everything else we want before that, and rather exactly. I get to...

...with 59 AP spent, leaving us (exactly) 5 to go. This lets us get no more than one of Imp. Rog. Dil 2, Mnk Wis 2, HIR 2, HV 3. We have plenty of 1 AP choices: Conc 2 or the various special attacks. Personally I would go IRD 2 and Conc 2. Nothing against the special attacks, I just think you'll have enough buttons to push already. After that: GM Ocean, GM Storm, Void 4, Shintao 3, and Serenity fill you out. By happy coincidence, this also reflects very nearly the enhancement build you already had.

Ok, after going through all of the posts and taking it all in, here's version 2 of my build.. still holds true for what I'm looking for, but I think I've tightened it up more. Let me know what you think!
