Why is the launcher downloading splashscreens every time I launch?

Also, I don't need to download DE/FR splashscreens as I'm never going to run the DE or FR localized client.

I could be wrong on this but I am fairly certain the Windows launcher does this as well, just appears to do so faster.

Yeah it did that on Windows too. I've found a temporary fix (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=408765), hope that helps you.
