View Full Version : Veteran level 7, 32 point Two Weapon Fighting Idea

Hey guys,
I'm still new, although I have purchased the 32 point build and Veteran level 7 from the store. My guildies have some lower level characters that I'd like to run with, and a melee type would be a big help.

I want to come in at level 7 "poorly twinked", meaning my level 10 character has enough money to equip him with a couple Khopeshes, stat increasing items, etc, but that is all. (He has 35K on him right now.) I might have enough for one or two +1 tomes, if needed. I can also get him a +3 WIS item so he can cast level 1 spells.

I want to go Human for the extra feat and Human Versatility (at least HV2). I want to dual-wield Khopeshes, but I also want to be able to use bows to pull with. I also want to have good hit points and AC, so I'm thinking Heavy Armor is a must. Finally, I want to eventually have a high a chance to proc the 2nd weapon attack, even at level 7 (6 Ranger gets me Tempest I think for + 10%).

This has me thinking Ranger/Fighter, and I think I'd enjoy the character best (since I can start at level 7), just getting 6 Ranger out of the way quickly. This would open up Multi-shot and other things. It also gives me lots of skill points to start with. And then go Fighter for at least 12 levels. I don't know what to do with the other 2 levels. (Rogue maybe?)

If you've done Veteran before, you know that you have do all the levels, and THEN get your enhancements afterward.

Here is what I'm thinking I would get for feats, if I understand the process correctly:

Level 1 (Human Ranger) - Khopesh, Power Attack
Level 3 - Toughness
Level 6 (still Ranger) - Oversized two weapon fighting
Level 7 (Fighter) - Two Weapon Defense?
Level 8 (Fighter - when I hit 8) - Improved Crit?

Note that Ranger gets Two Weapon Fighting and Improved 2 Weapon Fighting for free on their way to 6, regardless of Dex (but there are feats that require at least 13 dex from what I understand). I understand that I will need 17 Dex before I can get Great Two Weapon Fighting, so I need to keep that in mind.

So if all this sounds OK, what would you suggest for starting stats in a 32 point Human 2WF build, and what stat increase should I take at 4 (Probably STR or DEX). I know I want STR and CON as high as possible. I'm assuming I will dump INT, WIS and CHA (for now).

I have a +1 Keen Khopesh and another Khopesh of some kind to give him as soon as he arrives. After Improved Crit I shouldn't need Keen slashing weapons anymore.

If you want Tempest I you will need to work Dodge, Mobility, and Spring Attack into your feats because of the pre-reqs. Two Weapon Defense and even Oversize TWF aren't really needed, especially at lower levels.

Replace PA, OTWF, and TWD, with your needed Tempest feats. You'll get a lot of feats if you plan on going 12 fighter, so if you really think you need them, take them later.

Also, what are the most important skills for a 2WF character? I assume Balance, and Diplomacy if "Tanking" is in the plans?

Diplomacy is to reduce the aggro
If you want to tank, it is Intimidate that you need to increase aggro

Sounds to me like the classic Monster would be up your alley: ftr 12 / rgr 6 / rog or monk 2 - lots of feats (inc. 3 ranged ones), good DPS, Evasion. Usually looks something like this:

EDIT: I wouldn't try tanking with a TWF build, tho; with all the changes in recent updates, either a classic S&B tank or maybe a monk is the most sensible approach, IMHO.

Yeah I totally meant Intimidate :) BIG difference there. Sorry for the Confusion :)
