View Full Version : Make XP Bonus An Actual Bonus

Right now the XP bonus is only added to the base value of the quest so while 25% may seem like a huge bonus it actually is not. The highest value of a non-raid quest is 10k (elite coal chamber) . This is only an extra 2500 added to the base value of the quest not including xp pots, ship buffs and voice.

Now my suggestion would be to add it to the grand total of the quest just like an xp pot so it applies to the "ALL EXPERIENCE" like it says in the xp report.

Take litanny of the dead for example;

XP Bonus added to base value:
Elite run is 9460
First time 20%
First time difficulty 80%
Bravery (maxed out) 50%
XP bonus 25%
Tome of Learning 50%
Devious (optional) 7%
No re-entry 10%
No death 10%

Total 33299.2

XP Bonus added to ALL XP after finishing quest:

Elite run is 9460
First time 20%
First time difficulty 80%
Bravery (maxed out) 50%
Tome of Learning 50%
Devious (optional) 7%
No re-entry 10%
No death 10%

Total 30934
XP bonus 25%

Total After Bonus 38667.5

Now these numbers are not taking into consideration of xp shrines, pots, and/or voices, just the bare minimum for simpicity. If you notice the difference between the two are quite substantial. A difference of 7733.5 (XP added to total) - 2365 (XP to base) equals 5368.5.

So please devs, if you want to give us a bonus to "ALL EXPERIENCE" like it is advertised in the experience report, have it added to the total and not just to the base.

Thanks

XP really REALLY isn't a problem in this game, especially if you play the Bravery Bonus game. On a 3rd+ life TR 16 and up was really nasty but I see many of them leveling pretty briskly now with BB in the mix.

If you start handing out XP that quickly then you miss a lot of content and there's not a lot of reason for them to bother with new content because unless it's got better XP/Minute or some piece of uber twink gear there won't be any reason for people to run it.

Sure you might say, add the uber twink gear then ... well the power creep is starting to turn into a power trot with a nice jog on the horizon I don't think it's in anyone's best interest to speed that up any more. It's already hard enough for a new player who doesn't have a friend to baby sit them for a while to get into the game.

No. Making bonuses multiplicative instead of additive would be a huge mistake. It would only end up with them reducing the percentage in order to compensate for a MUCH higher actual amount of earned XP.

The way it works now, it is very simple: just add all of the bonuses together, move the decimal 2 places, then multiply THAT by the base XP. And it DOES apply to all XP earned already, including optionals, slayers, etc. The only thing it doesnt apply to is other bonuses -- which it shouldnt. That would be like saying the bonus should apply to itself so that it "works as advertised"

It's actually a very nice bonus, particularly if you are farming a certain quest 8+ times

And the "bare minimum" is with a tome of learning and full streak? Don't worry about XP, and don't bite the hand that feeds you, either. Any bonus is certainly nice.

Input the numbers with no tome and on the 12th or whatever repeat with -90%.

Multiple XP bonuses rack up pretty quickly. Near 40k for Von 3 and near 50k for VOn 5 never used to be achievable. Nowdays its done once per life per TR I run.

Getting massive XP is easy enough now. There's absolutely no need to change it.
Back in the old days, you did have grind a lot, there were only 50% more xp for elite and 20% more for doing hard, so repetition if quests on elite was a common thing (there wasnt a first time bonus for each difficulty like nowadays. You only had first time elite or hard and that was it)

There we no major bonuses like (elite is 80% and hard is 40% now), no streaks, no tomes, no potions, nothing like that. Nowadays, as a first lifer, you can only run normals and cap fairly quickly. And as a TR, you won't have any problems either, you can run most quests on elite or hard, except the 18-20 quest range, where finding groups to do elite is a bit more difficult.

No one needs more xp. It's perfect as it is now.
