Hello forum people! I just wanted to show off my Ranged DPS build for my second TR (third life) Artificer.

(3/5/13): Updated my build a little bit. It's the same concept but this has some caster capabilities.

Note: The level 3 feat was originally Augment Summoning, I changed that to Insightful at level 20.

Epic Feats: Combat Archery (21), Epic Spell Focus: Evocation (24)
(You can switch these around if you so desire)

Enhancements: I will be getting all the prereqs for Battle Engineer (which is a must have for this build). Also will get all the Improved Rune Arm Use and Overcharges for faster Rune Arm blasts. Taking Uncaring Master too because I don't have to worry about my pet dying. Maximizing my rune arm by taking 7/1/1 spell enhancement line for my best rune arm. Also I have some Improved UMD for maximizing my UMD for better uses for my Heal scrolls and some other scrolls. Will be getting all the Wand and Scroll mastery too.

Skills: Maxing Concentration, Disable Device, Open Lock, Haggle, Balance, Jump and UMD. As I spend my level up points in INT, I will dump the extra skill points in Spot and later on dumping in Repair aswell.

I'd definitely include Spell Focus: Evocation and Greater Spell Focus: Evocation; these 2 feats will give a significant increase to your rune arm damage.

Spell focus and maximize are way earlier than you can use them, and skill focus umd is way later. By level 20, you will have umd for no-fail heal scrolls and then some. My suggestion would be to drop sf:umd and put evo and greater evo in the last 2 slots. At level3, take something that will help you level. Either dps like rapid shot or defense like insightful reflexes. I would probable go with defense. Good luck!

How would adding +1 and +2 to the DC of your spells up the DPS my all that much?

Items and enhancements that increase spell damage or create spell criticals also affect rune arm damage.
Runearms don't benefit from items with a bonus to caster level on Evocation (Infused Chaosrobe, Might of the Abishai).
Runearms don't benefit from Prestige Bonuses to caster level (Radiant Servant will not boost Candlelight/Coronach/Tira's Splendor, for instance).
Runearms do benefit from the Spellsinger's Song of Arcane Might.
The DC of Rune Arm blasts is:

10 + (Charge Tier + 1) + (INT modifier) + (Max Charge Tier - 1) + (Evocation Feat Bonuses)

Items that increase Evocation DC do not seem to modify Rune Arm DC.
Different Rune Arms can be resisted with different saves (Fortitude/Reflex/Will)


Adding +2 to your DC can mean alot of damage against enemys who have high saves or even Evasion.
