Every once in awhile Turbine (DDO) will do some major upgrade to the look and feel of an area and might I say do a very good job at it. I propose it is time the Portable Hole get a major overall to have a more look and feel of a casters retreat.

Add In:
chemsitry labs
beakers
big library (with the ability to read some books with lore when clicked on occasionally)
maybe a specialized vendor with cosmetic caster garb, hats, etc...
There are other nice additions I am sure that could be done (ideas anyone)

Keep:
wizard & sorcerer trainers
potion vendors
scroll vendors
wand vendors
mailbox
tavern (but make it less obtrusive to the environment, more suttle)

Add a dancing troupe or a band from another plane of existence, too. Wizards love entertainment :D

I propose to add a portal to the porthole, accessable by those with the Religious Lore feat or the Arcane Lore feat, but requires 9 levels of spells. This way, any casting class can get some Porthole-only scrolls without having to bind and /death if they need them.

Don't need any clueless barb or newb trying to peek their heads through a real, materialized portal... The fact this place is only reachable through a spell is what's making the Hole a special place exactly :D

/not signed to this. It is a place of arcane, not divine. I would rather they update the temple in house D or add a new place just for divine stuff.

I wouldn't mind seeing bard trainers in there since their magic is considered arcane.

Most of what is proposed seems to be fluff however so unless it gets updated with more functionality, I'm happy with how it is now.

I don't really want to hear music in there when I'm trying to figure out how much of my components I need because most of the music I've heard isn't very good anyway. If we are talking about Philter, King Crimson, or Debussy as the music, well I'll sign on to that.

To make it even more caster speced why not have it so if you can't cast at least level 2 or aren't a sorc,bard,or wiz, then when you try to enter the portable hole you instantly die. And have some random monsters spawn in there to represent when people miscast, don't let the mobs attack you though unless you attack them.

For divine consideration the teample in House Deneith really needs to be upgraded. Right now its just a big ole empty room. Where is the congregation, pews, brothers, etc...

-3rd tier have a training dummy room where you need to walk through door like a quest.
-each instance is a separate instance like a normal quest.
-a party can enter together.
-players can’t harm each other like they can in tavern brawls.
*Add some magical structures, statues or fountains or great pillars of shards pulsating with energy placed in the center for eye candy.

Don’t Want Any of the Following---
*Plants. Please no ferns!
*Bankers. Already have teleport spell that leads to a bank.
*Auction house. Again, teleport spell.
*Airship dock. Airships can’t travel there.

Could also be a nice quest later on down the track, extra planar creatures attacking the Portable Hole?

That would be interesting, certainly. And if you get that pack/complete that quest, you see a beholder mage at the bar!

That would be cool to play -- have the portable hole empty while the party fights off those extra planar attacks. It'll give the other classes a small taste of the ph. The other two or three quests could then be elsewhere in that dimension.

*Add Arcane Training Dummy(s) yes, but on the outside of the quest is a beholder bouncer, what use is a hobgoblin bouncer when the mage looks at it and the bouncer is gone, have to have a beholder

-more like the beginning of chronoscope ehhhhh chronoscope is a bit chromatic make it better for the hole

-bluish/purplish/redish energy that you can see outside the magic structure visual magical energy is always a good sign ^_^

-1st tier have barkeep, binder, vendors, portable exit to marketplace not just the market make it act like you casted a teleportation spell without the oops chance
-2nd tier have arcane scroll vendors, zone in that is fine
-3rd tier have a training dummy room where you need to walk through door like a quest.
-each instance is a separate instance like a normal quest. make you be able to change the resistances/prots/immunities/saves/ect
-a party can enter together. now why would you want that?
-players can’t harm each other like they can in tavern brawls. hence the beholder bouncer
*Add some magical structures, statues or fountains or great pillars of shards pulsating with energy placed in the center for eye candy. sure just nothing too fancy

drunken beholders? how about beholders on chains in an antimagic field that only affects them? with a regeneration spell on them! mages would enjoy torturing the poor saps

Some of how the Twelve arcane shop is setup is close to what we want in the portable hole.

-Change to sell all potions in the ph. - yes, put 2 or 3 behind a chemistry station.
* Gage Alzander (General Vendor)
-Change from general vendor to Arcane Materials Vendor - yes
-Move potions from Gage to Petra - yes
-Sell black onyx gems - no preference here
* Add Vendor (wand vendor) - yes
* Add Vendor (general vendor) - NO, we do not need arrows & bolts in an arcane shop.

I like what they did with the tower of the twelve overhaul.

If they added things to the portable hole, how about guild vendors? It seems like there should be more places to buy these supplies.

Also, fix the minimap, it makes no sense to me.
