I play in windowed mode and really hate when I examine something with a long explanation half of it is scrolled off the screen. Can we get something with maybe a scrolling for this issue or make it adjust on its own for windowed players?

Not just for you windowed players, but for me too. I don't have a HD 1680 x 1250 computer monitor, so when I look at someones linked GS weapon I can't read half of it. I can't close the window either, because the X is off the screen. I end up wiggling around a bit until it disappears.

Go to UI options. Find the line marked "show detailed descriptions upon examination." Uncheck that box. Problem solved.

When you encounter a new effect that you've never seen before, get the item in your focus orb and mouse over the effect name for a tooltip of that description.

But then we can't see everything that has been applied to that shiny new GS weapon.

True?

scroll bar would be nice here. I'm running 1920x1200 and the 3rd tier green steel still goes off the screen.

It lists the item effects. It just doesn't give detailed descriptions of those effects unless you mouseover.
The first thing I clicked on was this:

Instead of all of that, all it will say is:
> +2 enhancement bonus
> tumble +5
> dexterity +5
> balance +5

Eight lines of text are removed, and that's just a simple docent. You can imagine the difference on GS items.
If you want to see what any of those do, you can hover over them and get a tooltip of the description. It saves a TON of screenspace on examinations.

My GS heavy repeater looks like this:

You can't see anything. But if I uncheck this box:

Then it looks like this, and you can see everything. Hovering over the effect will bring up a tooltip description of the effect (which I didn't get a SS of, but should have):

You know, I don't even care much that I can't see everything on the greensteel; what bothers me more is that when I'm, say, wearing a greensteel item, and trying to examine another item of the same type. When both descriptions pop up, the item I want to read is top-aligned with the greensteel, and thus completely off the top of my screen. Can we make it centered, instead?

Hmm, nice. I'll give that a try an see if it makes a difference for me.

Thanks!

My Lit 2's get cut off and I always feel bad asking the artie for a spell when he already cast it on me and I just can't see it.

edit: That's a nice work around Caleb, +1. I'll give that a try.
