View Full Version : The Portable Hole Needs Some Lovin'

I really like having a place we can only get to by teleportation.

The place looks nice but needs some help.

Whether you agree or disagree--here is my wish list.

If you can buy spells up to and including level 7 you should be able to acquire all the needed materials for those spells there too.

You can't. This should be addressed.

Scroll cases-Scroll cases-Scroll cases. These should be implemented and available there.

A Bank or at least a storage locker.

An Auctioneer.

A row of training dummies.

An airship docking platform-can still have access for spell casters only everyone else can wait on the ship. (kinda ruins the teleport only so maybe not)

Guild Vendors

2nd hand store

Maybe expand the available spells and materials to every level.

Maybe carve out a section exclusively for higher level players.

Increase the size with additional rooms and /or levels for any additions

Visually..add a larger cast of wandering arcane NPCs not all humanoid, maybe with a couple of elementals thrown in.

Instead of the post box as the center piece have an Elemental Fountain with flowing water, lava, acid and a powerful air jet shooting out of the top.

A little more flora would be nice and maybe an all glass aviary.

Windows and/or a balcony to outside.

A slide from the upper level to lower level. WEEEE!

An elevator into the bowels of the structure where we can witness the Cannith Industrialized Magic at work.

Now this would be a place I would love to hang out in with my peers.

When you say you can't buy the spell components, you mean the special components like what you need for create undead right?

right black onyx is available in House J but not at the hole. i don't have all the spells so this may or maynot be the only one with this issue

I don't think there's an outside. It's another plane. Maybe a window casting a permanent illusion? :D

Sounds a little more like a portable market instead of a portable hole.

I don't have an opinion either way on your specific ideas, but I do think that overall I'd rather see the developers working on something more impacting to the broader playerbase.

I really do not see the point. A lot of that stuff you can also access just as easily by teleporting; like the Cannith Crafting Hall, House K bank, Market Square, etc.
If you're not teleporting everywhere you need to be, then you're doing it wrong.

OK, you started out well, then lost me when you started decorating and putting slides and elevators in. :rolleyes:

Airship portal? Nope. This place should remain accessible only by teleport.

A section for higher level players? To do what exactly?

Guild vendors? We already have those in house K.

Bank, auctioneer, ability to purchase all scrolls and spell mats? YES!

An area with training dummies you can actually cast offensive spells at? WOO HOO! This is LONG overdue.

Scroll cases? Personally I don't use scrolls, except to scribe spells. They are too much of a hassle to use in battle. But others want them so YES please.

I don't have an opinion either way on your specific ideas, but I do think that overall I'd rather see the developers working on something more impacting to the broader playerbase.

This is my view... Its one of those nice to have things and its for a limited amount of toons.

Scroll Cases - Yes, definitely.

Banker - Yes, definitely.

Airship - Easy enough to teleport to Portable Hole - What I'd like to see is the Airship get a Teleport option too.

Everything else - Nah - Not needed.

I'd also like to see The Temple of the Sovereign Host get some love along with Word of Recall:

Catacombs - Silver Flame - A simple change to Catacombs in the same way as Delera's Graveyard was changed for Mabar.

The Twelve - Vulkoor - The Twelve is in the centre of Searing Heights after all.

The Temple of the Sovereign Host does need some items added as well:

1. Divine Scroll Vendor
2. Divine Reagent Vendor
3. Divine Potion Vendor
4. Barkeep - This could be in the side room - every church I've ever been in has had it's own club.

Mailbox and Auctioneer are just outside, A banker would be nice but strange in a temple.

some of your suggestions would be nice, but the portable hole is not bad enough that it should suffer a turbine 'fix'.

Really easy update:

Add all material components to vendors.

Easy update:

Add a banker and auctioneer. Banker because I suddenly remembered I might have those rare scrolls in my bank and auctioneer because I didn't and they don't sell them at the vendor.

Complicated but awesome:

A practice area with portals maybe where arcanes could test out spells. Or a spell-sensitive training dummy of some sort.

Have you even been to the place that the cleric spell teleports you to?

I can't even comment on how absurd this is when there are so many other things that need improvement. Boring both graphically and mentally harbor quests which are clearly as old as the game, Threnal, people leaving Korthos but having no idea how to use lfm system, the ridiculousness of dungeon alert which new players have no way of knowing about, Threnal, 3 barrel cove, Threnal, and Threnal.

I don't fully agree with you, but I do have some similar thoughts.

I think the Portible Hole is fine as is. Just keep it updated as things are added to the game.

I am not oppsed to guild vender presense in the PH though. But actually, I think the guild vender method of buying things should be adjusted..... more like lowering the price based on guild level, from any vender, instead of seperate guild venders.

The Temple of the Soveriene(sp) Host however, needs a total makeover. It should emulate the PH, but for divines.

And the guild venders (if they keep them) should move out of the rain IMO. Currently they are just a bunch of gus standing around in one place. They need a home!


But anyway....the PH should be a one stop shopping area for arcanes. That I can gree with.

Maybe even having different types of training dummies, one to test cold spells one, one for fire, acid, and electric. Along with possible different saving throws/resists to see how well your spells get through their resists and immunities.

Seriously.. No wand vendor in the wizards club? That's like going to a gold range to find out no one there sells golf balls..

I agree that the portable hole needs a visual overhaul and something like this would look up to date.

And the Temple of the Sovereign Host needs a serious overhaul. Maybe make it exclusive for clerics/druids/FS, and add vendors, etc...
