So at the end, my arty has 3 extra enhancement points. I have gone with 7/1/1 for both electric and force since I plan to use Tovens. I want to put these 3 points into the force line, but am not sure what to do. Which selection makes more difference, critical chance or critical damage? To put it another way, would 7% critical chance with 75% extra crit damage be more effective than 4% critical chance with 105% extra crit damage?

if 7% of your crits are doing 75% extra damage then you'll be doing 12.25% extra damage from your crits
0.07 * 1.75 = 0.1225

if 4% of your crits are doing 105% extra damage then you'll be doing 8.2% extra damage from your crits
0.04 * 2.05 = 0.082

tada :)

... Which selection makes more difference, critical chance or critical damage?...

While more criticals @ lower damage makes for more damage, I think the higher critical damage @ lower frequency is the most noticeable.

While the first scenario works out to more DPS on paper, the second scenario has a higher impact on the "HOLY CR*P!" section of my brain.

So it really depends on what you're going for.

also good advice, fun vs function, a perfectly valid way to make a choice in a game.

bah!

with no lore item:

if 7% of your crits are doing 75% extra damage then you'll be doing 12.25% extra damage from your crits
0.07 * 1.75 = 0.1225

if 4% of your crits are doing 105% extra damage then you'll be doing 8.2% extra damage from your crits
0.04 * 2.05 = 0.082

with a greater arcane lore item:

if 7% of your crits are doing 75% extra damage then you'll be doing 32% extra damage from your crits
(0.07 + 0.09) * (1.75 + 0.25) = 0.32

if 4% of your crits are doing 105% extra damage then you'll be doing 29.9% extra damage from your crits
(0.04 + 0.09) * (2.05 + 0.25) = 0.299

so it does close the gap a bit, but doesnt change which comes out on top.

please give me a shout out if i've messed up the stacking maths, i've shown the calculations so others know where the results come from.

its easy enough to find an item with damage type specific lore, so you should be able to amplify the spells you cast the most. i'll often switch between an ice lore and a fire lore item depending on what i'm attacking (got necro lore on my wonderful mabar robe :) )

Does the force damage lore also affect untyped like the enhancement does?

This is Super if you can get Hold of one :

http://ddowiki.com/page/Lucid_Dreams

Apply the Master Crafting for Level 17 Amusement...

Also the Elf Relic Robe is nice at 10 if you can fit it in.

all the best:)
