Let's see someone from Turbine do a video presentation of the updates they're putting together. Like the following:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vwdf1-jESZE

Some of the benefits:

1. Having a community rep speak to the community about some of the reasons behind decisions shows that you guys know what you are doing and understand how players play and are responsive to the community.
2. Outlining the important stuff in a video is a cool way for you to show off all of the fun things you're adding.
3. Getting lots of views on youtube is a good way to market your game.

What's not to like?

They wouldn't even need to show the dev, or name the dev or whomever you would do this idea with, just keep the video on the game highlights, even if it is only still screenshots with a narration.

If making a video is too much, maybe just write near the patch notes "why?" with responses. Simple but efficient.
