As my fighter is approaching 20 completions of both Shroud and Reaver's Fate, and my Sorcerer is almost 20, I'm considering trying out the True Reincarnation option. But before I do I wanted to run a few things through first about it.

1) First off a question regarding past life passives. I'm curious how the game takes into account past lives? Depending on how this first TR goes, I may try to do a Completionist (probably take 2+ years). So with my first life fighter, how does multi-class affect it? For example, I was thinking of trying out the 12Fig/6Ran/2Monk build, but I realized it's mostly fighter, so would that be a bit redundant in this case?

2) Greensteel. The only greensteel my fighter has is a MinII Scimitar that is still at the 2nd stage of it (bad luck with LDSs). I did get the required number of LDSs, but currently plan to make the ConcOpp goggles for my Sorc instead when I get one more Surpeme Shard. So not sure if I should go ahead with the ConcOpp goggles or finish the Scimitar. Or even make another item altogether. What Greensteel items do other people find useful while TRing? I (probably) have the mats to make any one greensteel item at present on my fighter.

3) Should I wait abit to TR? I still have not yet done ToD (not flagged), Black Abbot (not flagged), and several others. I have done VoD and HoX, but only 5 times each. Would it be worthwhile to try to get those (and possibly get the Tharnes Goggles, and maybe the Str bracers [can't recall what called]) first?

4) Any other recommended advice?

Thanks.

It's based on the dominant class, so in the case of 12 fighter, you get a fighter past life benefit of +1 to-hit and +1 to tactics, which stacks up to 3 times. It's not redundant until you have 3 of them.

I wouldn't bother TR'ing a melee until you at least have:

1. A Greensteel HP item
2. Another Greensteel item of your choice (e.g. Smoke II Cloak, Min II Helmet, etc.)
3. A Greensteel triple-positive maul or quarterstaff
4. A pair of completed Greensteel weapons, be it Min II / Lit II or 2 Min II or 2 Lit II.

In addition to the above, I wouldn't TR until getting:

1. The Phiarlian pendant from 150 favor
2. Madstone Boots
3. At least one piece of raid/twink loot for every gear slot in the ml 11-14 range

4) Any other recommended advice?

When you do TR, don't do quests over your level, and once you hit level 12, bank XP until you have to level, at each level. That's all I can think of at the moment.

So how would that work in a case of, for example, 10 sorc/10wiz (probably never happen, but just for arguement sake). Is it based on first class chosen maybe?

It depends on the class "order" as determined by some DDO internal logic. According to a post by Lithic (so I trust it), it's:

Barbarian, bard, cleric, fighter, paladin, ranger, rogue, sorcerer, wizard, monk, favored soul

e.g. 10 barb / 10 fighter gets you a barbarian past life

Well looks like it might be awhile then before I look at TRing with that shopping list. Just did the math and that's 23 LDSs alone (this number makes me want to cry). And 9 Funks (tears shall also fall from this one). With two shroud capable characters, ransacking chests every week (which I don't always do), and my luck..... :(

Oh well, the game is fun. Gonna have to take time and figure out what build to do now anyway, especially if I go for completionist (Only thing I know is that I want Sorc as my final life, why I leveled one up now to play with while going through the others).

Another question though. I thought MinII helm meant 45HP and Heavy fort. Is that not correct? Also, what would go well with Smokescreen on a cloak (I put 15 Inhernet FR and 30 LR). Okay 2.

That's true you can make your HP item a Min II helm. And now that I'm looking at the options, that's probably the best way to do it. For Smoke, I think your idea of GLR and +15 FR looks quite good as well.

Well next to the phiarlan pendant of time some other small ideas:
- Bank an other Blessing of the Silver Flame (http://ddowiki.com/page/Blessing_of_the_Silver_Flame)
- Maybe prepare the full necro 4 sigil
- Maybe prepare the Titan raid sigil
- Have the Silver Flame Talisman ready
- Ensure you have the set Voice of the Master (Delera) + Mantle of the Worldshaper (Threnal)
- Ensure that you have +4 items (red fens) ready in the bank as soon as you hit lvl 7 after TR
- Have a 'Collapsed Portable Hole' ready as soon as you hit Coin Lords Favor 150 after TR
- Have a Dragon Touched armor/docent ready
- Also consider what things may need to be adapted, e.g. if you reincarnate into a WF and have been Human before (need Docent instead of Armor)

But I am not sure that a second Greensteel item beside the HP item is really that necessary especially as you may run Vale anyway a couple of times as a TR afterwards and Cannith Crafting may already provide you with a Boss beater (sure the GS min level thing beat it there)

And yes you can build a GS HP item with Heavy Fortification (tier III bonus effect), but there are other recipes as well.

This is the kind of post I like, because it helps to fill in the things I know I'm missing as well.

The blessing of the silver flame item, not sure what that is and the link honestly didn't help much, please elaborate.

By Necro 4 sigil I believe you mean the one from the Orchard. I have 6/8 pieces for it, so shouldn't be too much issue to farm the rest out.

No idea on Tital sigil, I'll have to look that one up.

Got my Voice, but no Mantle yet (just haven't bothered with Red Fens)

Have to hit up Red Fens it would seem, another one I haven't done all the quests in before.

Collapsed Portable Hole - No Problem!

Still haven't done Stealer of Souls on either character, though flagged on both. Sounds like it's time to head there too.

And no docents for me, not a big fan of Warforged in general. Though as I am considering an archer of some form, definitely looking at bows right now (already have my Silver Bow, and some bracers that I can't recall the name of).

Looks like Greensteel wise gonna finish my Min II and make the HP item, though not sure what slot, as I do have the Minos Legens. Any other advice on that end, like additional enchantments besides Heavy Fort or other slots?

It's a potion you get at 150 favor with Silver Flame. It increases HP/SP regen from 1hp/5sp to 2hp/8sp every 6 seconds.

No idea on Tital sigil, I'll have to look that one up.Restless Isles adventure pack, the sigil gives access to the Titan Awakes raid. But not many people run it so ... (less than Abbot).

You're going DPS, a Min II HP (+45hp, heavy fort, prot +5) cloak maybe, if you plan on getting VoD bracers/googles and a necklace from Amrath that's the only spot left IMO.

Personally, if you have heavy fort, a GS weapon and 45 HP item for a melee I would say go for it. I wouldn't worry about making an Abbott sigil unless you plan on running it right at level. If not you will farm Orchard more than enough that after a few runs of each you will have a sigil made anyway. Titan sigil? I wouldn't worry about that at all. Pick up your Madstone boots at your 20 RF (if it's an option) then just TR.

Waiting for a piece of raid gear for every slot is almost completely unrealistic for a new player unless he is in a very tight knit guild that is filling the other 11 slots.

And from personal experience, don't TR them both at the same time unless you are dual boxing. Having your Sorc or Ftr still working on large mats form Shroud, those raid items, etc gives you something to do if you find yourself getting bored running low level quests. You can even get the shards you need for crafting more GS on whatever toon you TR, then use the other toon to make a blank and use ships to make your next item.

Bottom line, if you feel like your characters need a TR, don't wait around for the 'right time', because if you honestly got all the raid and epic items you wanted first your toon would be dead of old age first.

Thank you for the information and advice, always appreciated. Now to work on some Silver Flame Rep...

I like your advice! I already have the Madstone Boots (didn't mention earlier, and probably not equipped as I use the 30% striding in town). My fighter is in a guild with some RL friends, so not too much luck there as they don't play like I do (Must....Put.....Down.......Mouse......ooh, another Weapons Shipment run!).

Also didn't plan on TRing both. I in fact don't have any plans to TR my Sorc at all at present (meh, too much work). I'd rather keep TRing one and go for completionist.

Also ran out of Rep to give, sorry :( I'll try to hit you up tomorrow.

I thought Id just add my bit here as Im a newish player that recently TR'd

All I had prepped for my Bards TR was Conc opp, HP Tier2, Lit2 and Min2 at Tier 2 (I forgot to pack enough supremes doh

Other than that I just went for it and havent had any regrets (except the shards)

On an XP note, I havent banked any levels yet and so far at L14 Ive had no shortage of XP available. Im probably doing it the least efficient way but Im in no real rush to recap. Perhaps from L14 onwards the available XP gets less, but seeing as I havent ran any of the new stuff yet from the last couple of updates, I cant say.

If you want a super smooth run to cap then the ultimate prep lists above are the way to go, if you cant wait to get all that gear (like me) then just go for it. Ive enjoyed nearly every step of my TR.

I also got a couple quick questions regarding TR:

Can you change the name of your character when you TR?
Is there a plat limit for TRs? (I'm f2p)

So it's more or less based on alphabetical order but the new classes have been added onto the end. I think it works correctly that you can see what PL you get by what icon is showing up for your character.

Obviously a 10 wizard/10 sorcerer isn't likely but plenty of people do 6 ranger / 6 x / 6 x builds and have serious concerns so it's good to know for sure.

Don't forget to top off any favor you might want before you TR. If you have 2975 favor right now, might want to get that 3k before resetting that toon's favor. Also remember to buy any things that are favor reward related before you TR, like yugo pots or silver flame potions ect.

I was pretty patient before I did my first TR, got my 20/40 completions in and then pulled the trigger. If you are close to your 20th, you should try to get it. You might get a tome that can change the complexion of your next life build or even change it entirely.

Lot of people will say, 'You made it to 20 without twink gear, you can do it again', and they would be right. But when you are grinding for xp you might as well make it easy on yourself. I recommend that right before you TR, farm out some low level gear. Sharn Syndicate has some no ML gear that can give you a nice edge right off the bat. After that maybe get an abashai set. Green steel is level 11 and 12. Its fun being able to level up and see what kind of things you've grown into.

If you have eberron fragments, dont forget to trade them in for XP pots. Sure, you don't need them but they come in handy when you want them.

When I TR'd, I banked just about every level. The grind was the same but for me it didn't feel as bad because I was always 1 level ahead.

There's a lot more tips than that, but I'm oom for now. :D

Good luck and have fun with your TR!

Well the Titan (http://ddowiki.com/page/The_Twilight_Forge_%28quest%29) and Abbot Sigil (http://ddowiki.com/page/Litany_of_the_Dead_Part_4) for the Raids aren't high prio, but if you nearly have those items (e.g. 6 of 8) or the possibility to get them its easier and faster to obtain them at your current high level. I added them mostly because Raids usually pay as well a bunch of XP if run at level (its easier to find a high level PUG for Titan). Needless to say that Raids are a source of gear/tomes.

Also the Mantle isn't necessary but this set provide a huge bonus at level 5 (spell absorption, XP boost and true seeing).

If you not have your Minos yet go buy 20 tapestry from the AH and obtain it via a Guest Pass, its to easy to obtain even as a f2p to ignore it. For GS HP item most players probably prefer a cloak but you may see it as well on helmets, goggles and bracers depending on your gear layout.

As from Reincarnation guide for first timers (http://forums.ddo.com/showpost.php?p=3668057&postcount=60):
A TR character is considered lvl 20 for gold limit purposes

And no you can't change your name but you get little wings left and right.
