I would say people need more information:

- What significant gear do you have (GS, Epics, Weapons, Etc)?
- Do you want to use the PL Feats? (Typical TWF Assassin's feats are pretty set)
- Are you sure you want to be an assassin? (Just saying +4 INT tome would make me think about making a 2 TR Wizard though Rogue is a good choice too).
- Any preferred Race?

Roughly speaking:
- Full TWF, PA, Toughness, EWP: Kopesh or PL: SoS
- Max STR, 15 DEX (or 14 if +3 tome), 16 CON, leftovers in INT (if there are any)

i am currently lvling up a Half-orc str based 18 rogue/1ftr/1monk build right now. Higher AC, better saves, and 2 extra feats that allow the usage of khopesh, O T W F, and toughness feats. At lvl 14, he is standing at 320 HPS. Its a fun build and hits very hard.

Here's one I'm currently levelling. I personally felt 6 int justified the loss of 2 points of strength, but if you're on 36 then you'll have 2 more points to spare and might think differently. I also chose Quick draw and rapier over khopesh. I already had a khopesh user and I hate waiting for boosts to finish.

I don't want to go too much into how it'll look at cap because ideal involves a lot of epic gear you might not have waiting, but he'll stand without guild/rage/madstone at 486 hp fully geared (remove 4 points of con and 10 hp from superior false life, suggests 436 with auction house gear). DPS is near max roguishly possible, and you'll assassinate at dc 38-40 for epic fun.

Epic traps, you're looking at 23 ranks, 7-8 int mod, 15 item, 1 skill mastery, 4 gh = 50 search. +7 tools = 57 disable. 62-63 is the number I believe for nofail disable, so 57-58 should leave you unable to critically fail. Skill boost and you're there.

Currently level 13, to-hit is sometimes an issue if power attack is on. PL pally ofc has been nice for that, but PL rogue could replace it.

...snip...

My main is a similar build, stats are 17/14/15/14/8/11 with max +3 tomes used for first 4 stats. Quickdraw + rapiers as well for the very same reason like u (i hate waiting :O) and Rogue's PL. I took HV IV, SB IV instead of Toughness III, Extra action boost II and Skill Boost. With the changes to diplo i was gonna drop SB IV but i kept forgetting about it :P

At cap, fully geared, she is a monster :) Easily breaks 600DPS, 447 standing hp, 34 standing UMD with no gear focused on UMD except for +CHA item, nice heal amp, 40dc on assassinate w/ ship buff.

I find her much better than a straight DPS horc assassin.

Go with HORC 20 str and you know what to do with the rest, a lot of Con and some INT. 11 INT and a +1 tome will get max disable, open, spot, search, and UMD + one more maxed. A little more Int can help you max a few other things. On my rogues I like these 5 +bluff, haggle, jump, sneak and hide. For feats if THF: ic slash, tough, pa, sf umd, martial GA or GSword, pl barb, and pl rogue. Or quickdraw. You'll crush everything.... If TWF: Twf x3, Khop, tough, ic slash, pa.....You'll love the THF synergy with Rogue and Horc enhancements w/o wasting the feats on the THF line. You max the adsassin enhancements and Horc Dps ones and life is good..

Ah, rapiers. Then halfling w 16 str, 15 dex (will need a +2 tome) 15 con, 15 intel, 8, 8 ish. And Tough, TWF x3, pl rogue, pa, and ic punct or quickdraw.

could i leave intel at 11 here make str 18 or dex 18 cause of the +4 int tome i have whats the difference b/w quickdraw and ic punct. why are they interchangable and is this a path that could produce a very well rounded rogue that can stand out and shine in epics.

Battlehawke
06-29-2011, 03:18 PM
You can go with the 11 intel, but halfling max str is 16. Ic punct will be more important if one of your gs rapiers are rad II. If Min II, then Improved Crit is not needed. Personally the Rad II is preferred because it almost guarantees you sneak damage, but minII is better for boss fights and crits not so effective. On my rogues I always carry Rad II so IC is better.

I want to be able to do epic traps

Every rogue can do epic traps. Just max ranks in search/disable, use +5 tools, use the best +skill item you can find, GH and skill boost = you can do all traps.

and deal alot of dps even if its not top dps

You are a rogue: top dps is what your designed to do. High strength, power attack and every possible sneak attack enhancer you can get + 2 weapon fighting = top dps

also would like to hit over 300+ hp

100 base + 40 (14 starting con) + 20 (+2tome) +30 (+6 con item) + 30 (greater false life) + 40 (toughness, can be more) + 45 greensteel hp item +20 (Minos Legens) +10 (agents of argonessen favor) = 335 hp

Now I don't want to nag or anything, but someone with a 36point build should know this kind of thing. Especially if you have the Past Life: rogue.

100 base is for arcanes. Rogues get 140 base.

Also, someone with a 36-pt build should know all this; and know that 300 is a very low goal; mid-400s is much better.

You did say you wanted to go pure which ultimately is the best for trash DPS, but if you want to be more rounded add the one level of monk for ac bonus and a feat and the one level of fighter for another feat. Then you could have quickdraw, ic punct and add sf umd. Then go 16, 15, 15, 11, 13, 8. If more then balance between dex and wis whichever is cheaper. You could have a 90 ish ac buffed, unmatched mob dps, great boss dps, max umd and rogue skills, improved evasion as well as a few other perks, but not taking the rogue capstone with assassin ultimately will cost you spme very nice additional sneak damage.

Sorry I dont have the exact numbers, Im at the beach with my kids and just my Droid.

Ignore those two mathmeticians, with gear you are looking at around 400 hp. Not bad for a rogue. A halfling one at that.

145 base + 40 enhancements + (15 con & +3 tome & +6 con item) +140 +10 argo + 30 GFL +45 GS +20 Minos is more than 400...

This is an interesting concept when you get a chance if your willing could you lay it out for me ie enhancements ect maybe I might consider doing this I am now looking to make an awesome build thanks to your and others comments maybe I will stray away from the pure side.

19/1 with monk is much stronger than 18/1/1. That second feat is unnecessary, but the extra 1d6 and bonus rogue feat are very nice.

You do lose the capstone +4d6 SA and good crits from khopeshs, but you gain a faster attack speed and more effects (ie holy burst ring). In the end, your trash (0% fort) dps is slightly lower lower, but you have among the highest (or maybe even THE highest) dps against 50% fort targets. Due to bonus weapon effects, your dps against 100% fort targets is also higher than a pure rogue reaches, but still pretty wimpy.

Cheers,
Kernal

Edit: There's a build of this on the forums called Black Lotus, I believe. Try looking that up.

Ill do that tonight when i get in. Np.

The capstone is one of the best in the game, but in higher content you are going to draw aggro from the big guys, and they are goung to beat the snot out of you, so the other is better for endgame, not that ac matters all that much, but it does help, and makes your toon funner to play....what are your gs rapiers?

Race: Halfling

Alignment: Lawful-Neutral

Class(s): Rogue 19 / Monk 1

Starting Stats: Str 16, Dex 16, Con 14, Int 10, Wis 8, Cha 10

So how would i change that to a HORC build 36 pt?

kernal42
06-29-2011, 04:31 PM
Assuming you have some resources available (ie, +2 dex tome), I would build it like this:

Str: 20
Dex: 15
Con: 16
Int: 8
Wis: 8
Cha: 6

Feats:
TWF
ITWF
GTWF
Toughness
Imp Crit: Blud
Power Attack
Past Life: Rogue
Bonus Feat! (toughness? SF:UMD?)

Unfortunately, because you're using 'wraps you don't get to benefit (very much) from the weapons (rapiers) you've already crafted. You can certainly equip them to blind mobs if necessary, etc, of course.

If you do a search for the Dwarven Strongarm you may find something closer. Monk Stunning attack is currently based off of your total levels instead of monk levels which was a nice change, but you have to be unarmed to use it...

but will work on build for ya tonight...

OK,

Here is a 36 point build that allows you to use your current weapons and looks like its about what you want. With this you have:
*Unmatched Trash DPS (only a pure assassin str build rogue will do more damage vs trash)
*Good Boss DPS (you will hit unlike a lot of Rogues)(when getting sneak damage, you'll pull aggro and then hopefully someone will pull it back, if you get it)
*Improved Evasion (One of the Best Feats in the game)
*Max UMD (good enough for Heal, Rez, and many other scrolls as well as the ability to equip some fun stuff you would not normally be able to do).
*Very Good Rogue Skills (Can easily Hit Epic Stuff).
*Crit Strike for additional Trash Killing and Jr Named Boss's
*Assassinate (Very Valuable in Epic quests)
*Opportunist (to help vs those nasty Bosses)
*A Great AC (Should be able to get into the 90's with full buffs)
*Decent HP (over 400 base)

This has no equipment listed on it, if you really need it, let me know...
