As far as I know there is no way of mitigating light damage (ex Searing Light) other than dodging.

As far as I know shields are extremely situational and could use a nice bonus.

Two birds! That nice shiny shield should help protect our light-senstitive eyes.

(Maybe shields could offer protection from all ray-spells. Heh, they could introduce spell-ray reflections! Beholders would be even more fun!)

I don't know about all shields offering protection from Light/ray spells - but adding a new named one that did so would be cool.

The Mirrored Shield, or some such. Blocks a certain percentage of Light damage, and another additional percentage to reflect back any ray type spell at the caster.

There was a proposed change to the Epic Phiarlian Mirror Cloak that would include 20 or 30 light resist. So maybe in the future there would be a way to mitigate light damage. But there is so little out there that we can't completely ignore because of immunities/resistances why not leave one or 2 things in that are dangerous.

And if that fails, just remember the 5 D's of dodgeball:

Dodge
Duck
Dip
Dive
Dodge!

They all from Zelda

If you can dodge a wrench - you can dodge a Ray of Enfeeblement!

Named shields sure. Generally just a normal property of shields nah...

Coronation shield is a really dumb item now. It could be made into a light absorbing/reflecting shield in it's normal and epic form.
